Preturn - Note that Settler is complete in Persepolis, our warriors have discovered unclaimed furs south of Babylon and east of Zimbabwe. The have also found a wheat tile near a sourse of horses along the coast southeast of Babylon (that'll probably be their next site), and spices along the south coastline. We're losing 1gp per turn to research Ironworking in 9 turns
(1) 2150 BC - Change Persepolis production to warrior. Send settler to magenta city site from Padma's map. He's scheduled to get there in three turns, so by turn four we should have our third city founded. I'll use our fortified warrior near the horsies to defend the city in the interim. Warrior will be ready in Persepolis in four turns. The hills-wine tile northwest of Persepolis is being worked now, as that produces the most food and shields for the city I leave it be. Growth scheduled ten turns from now. Pasargade is working the forest tile northwest of town so I leave that as well. They're scheduled to grow in four turns, same time their worker will be complete.
Troop Movements:
North warrior moves north-east to hills and discovers the river delta along the coast. South warrior moves north and discovers another source of spices and a one tile fresh-water lake.
Diplomacy:
Zulus have more $ in the bank and are connected to horses and furs, but have no extra resources. We're reportedly impressed with their culture but they are impressed with ours as well. We've got more military than they do but we are scientificly matched. Shaka is Polite with us.
Babylons have slightly more in the bank than we do and don't have access to any resources or luxuries. We're scientifically matched, and we're impressed by each others culture. We have more military but are scientificly matched with them as well. Hammy is cautious toward us.
Demos:
We're tops in population, GNP, manufactured goods, land area, literacy, family size, military service and productivity. We're fourth in approval rating and annual income, but that may change when I mess with our income slider.
Science:
I change the slider so that we're researching 30% science. That results in us making 3gpt and moves back our eta for Iron Working to 25 turns.
(2) 2110 BC - Move north warrior and south warrior east and discover coastlines and a fourth tile of spices along the coast. Worker finishes building road on tile northeast of Persepolis I move him to the east-southeast tile in the second ring to begin road connecting Pasargadae. I plan on connecting our third city via the forest directly north of the city site. the tile between the horse tile and city site is a forest as well, so it won't result in any net loss of turns and will help connect both cities without wasting any turns moving around.
Diplomacy:
No changes on either front
(3) 2070 BC - Worker begins road ESE of Persepolis. North warrior and south warrior move north and flesh out the edge of our coastline. No coasts of other islands or continents is visible, though they may be observed near Babylon.
Diplomacy:
No changes on either front (gold remains steady at Zulu: 104 and Babylon: 50)
(4) 2030 BC - Zulu scout shows up on tile SE of Susa. I start Suza with barracks because it appears to be clear that we're going to need some form of a military to expand and we'll need the barracks to upgrade our warriors anyway. Susa will be a front-line city in any skirmish. I elect to work a forest tile becuase we need the city to produce shilelds to complete the barracks in a reasonable time frame. Under this setup the Barracks will be done in 20 turns, same time as the city's next growth spurt. I move north warrior southwest to explore the remaining dark patch in the middle of the island. I move south warrior south to throughly explore the coast and ensure there are not close-by islands.
Diplomacy:
No changes on either front (gold remains steady at Zulu: 104 and Babylon: 50)
(5) 1990 BC - What a year! Our warrior completes his training in Persepolis and our worker completes his training in Pasargade. I set the worker to begin a road in the hills tile west of Pasargadae and I send the warrior south to Suza. The road ESE of Persepolis is complete and I move that worker southeast to build a road in the dead tile between the three cities so that they may be connected and wine can be enjoyed in all the realm. I set Pasargadae to work the forest tile northwest of town and change production to a Barracks under the same philosphy of why I set it in Susa. I set Persepolis to train another warrior as it seems it will take too long to build a cultural improvement and squeeze a settler out in optimal time. I move north warrior southwest again to the black hole in the middle of the island and I move south warrior south again to the coast but discover nothing new.
Diplomacy:
No changes on either front (gold remains steady at Zulu: 104 and Babylon: 50)
(6) 1950 BC - It is observed that the Zulu's found Ulundi in the floodplains about four tiles west of Zimbabwe. Road begins west of Pasargadae. North warrior moves southwest towards site of Ulundi. South warrior moves southwest along coast but discovers nothing.
Diplomacy:
No changes on either front (gold remains steady at Zulu: 104 and Babylon: 50)
(7) 1910 BC - North warrior moves southwest but discovers nothing. South warrior moves west but discovers nothing. Zulus discover Horseback Riding but aren't interested in trading right now. I don't think we'd want it at this point anyway.
Diplomacy:
Zulus discover Horseback Riding, gold remains steady at Zulu: 104 and Babylon: 50.
(8) 1870 BC - South warrior moves west along coast but discovers nothing. North warrior moves southwest but discovers nothing. Worker completes road in no mans' land, moves south to build road to Susa. Newly trained warrior arrives in Susa from Persepolis and helps to fortify the town.
Diplomacy:
No changes on either front (gold remains steady at Zulu: 104 and Babylon: 50)
(9) 1830 BC - Persepolis finishes training another warrior. I'm going to move this unit down the newly constructed road to Pasargadae to help defenses there. I'm tempted to start a settler in Persepolis but I don't think the city will have grown enough to support the creation of that unit, so I'm going to start it on another warrior. McDan can change this selection if he thinks it will be done, but there aren't any tiles in Persepolis that give us good food production without slowing down shield production. Right now the city will grow in two turns and complete a settler unit in ten. I don't see how the city would grow to three before the settler is complete, so I set it to warrior, which will be done in four. Road begins north of Susa and the road west of Pasargadae (as previously mentioned) is complete. That worker begins to mine the hills so full benefit of that tile is realized. North warrior moves to hill tile south of his current position to show more of the darkened area but only reveals more jungle. South warrior moves west along coast but discovers nothing.
Diplomacy:
No changes on either front (gold remains steady at Zulu: 104 and Babylon: 50)
(10) 1790 BC - BoBtheBUILDER goes out with a bang (I didn't
build anything con'sarnet

). South warrior moves southwest but discovers nothing. North warrior moves west to expose darkened area but discovers nothing. Newly trained warrior fortifies in Pasargadae.
Diplomacy:
I tested the waters again with Shaka on a trade for Horseback riding. His current offer is 69 g and 4 gpt. Seeing as that's all the gold we have plus all the gold we're making I declined. I countered with just the 69 gold but he wasn't interested. Otherwise things seem the same, gold remains steady at Zulu: 104 and Babylon: 50.
Post-turn:
Shaka's attention seems to be focused on expanding away from us. Before we begin to backfill our part of the island I would suggest going after that tile between the wheat and furs south of Babylon. It's along a river and will pull in a bonus grassland, an additional fur and a horse tile when the borders expand. It would be at minimal risk for a flip, it'd just be a matter of getting there before Shaka or Hammy.
I also noted that the AI seems to be at 100% science (and is still not making discoveries all that quickly). It'll be interesting to see where the iron turns up when we finally discover that advance. All in all not a very exciting turn, though there were some major infrastucture developments. We also know we're on an island now and that Mapmaking would seem to be a priority so that we can beat our neighbors to contacting the other folks on this world.
