CT4 -- Death to Cathy!

@God - ChrTh makes then final decision, but I hope that we are NOT allowed to break peace treaties. I really feel that is a game exploit.

We should NOT break peace treaties within 20 turns... that would make us no better than the Russians we're trying to :hammer:

I will look at the situation and try to rectify it.

I got it, will play tonight (EST)

Lee, you're on deck.

Ok, I wasn't sure. I should have waited bit longer. I just though we hated the Russians so much, there was no honorable way to kill them.

Sorry about that.

Is it true that the mark against our reputation doesn't count if the Russians don't live to tell anyone about it? That is, if we eliminate the Russians (is restarting off?) before they meet anyone else, our rep counts as clean? We DO have a game to win after beating Russia, you know :)

From what I understand, your reputation does not precede you...contact would have to be made for our reputation to go negative. That's not really the issue, though.

As for a post-Russia world...well, I have thought about it (especially when I found out they were so close)...and the answer is simple: the Russian people will survive the destruction of their land....the resulting diaspora will *infect* the other Civs with Cathyesque thoughts...

For the good of the world, those other Civs must be :hammer:

Remember, only Conquest is enabled :)

EDIT: Restarting Civs is off

Turn 0 -- 1500 BC

Cathy's not dead yet? Hrmmmm... ;)

She won't talk to me either. Guess I'll have to prosecute the war.
I'll send the Regular Warrior South to take out the Barb camp.

Turn 1 -- 1475 BC
Kyoto builds Settler, begins Barracks
I change Osaka to Warrior.

Turn 2 -- 1450 BC
The Russians have requested an audience
They want peace. I accept, and get Alphabet and a Worker out of them.

DON'T DECLARE WAR ON THE RUSSIANS FOR 20 TURNS (unless they attack us)

Osaka gets pillaged (our warrior lost to the Barbarian)...we lose a pop point. Dude...Osaka is acting like they've been whipped!

Turn 3 -- 1425 BC
Warrior done in Osaka...fortify him against the 2 barbs about to attack. Osaka is now Content.

Turn 4 -- 1400 BC
Warrior in Osaka does his job and is now elite.

Turn 5 -- 1375 BC
Tokyo is built...Temple ordered (will finish before Tokyo grows)
I placed Tokyo down in the SE for two reasons: 1) Iron 2) Barbarians

Turn 6 -- 1350 BC
Little Tokoyo builds Spearman, starts Worker
Barb encampment dispersed...+25gold

Turn 7 -- 1325 BC
Kyoto builds Barracks, begins Settler
I switch Godshome to Barracks

Turn 8 -- 1300 BC
Russians rebuild St. Petersburg

Turn 9 -- 1275 BC
Godshome finishes Barracks, begins Spearman
Spearman from Little Toyoko in Osaka, Osaka switched to Settler
Barb encampment dispersed...+25gold

Turn 10 -- 1250 BC
DON'T ASSIGN GOVERNORS! That is a SG rule...I had checked Little Toyoko, and didn't change anything, so I didn't realize a governor was in effect.

We need:
Settlers
Workers
Temples
Map Making

These should be our priorities; after Polytheism, switch to Writing.
No building Oracle; it'd be a waste of time.

Here's the save:

(0) 1250 BC - I can't kill Kathy this round.
Switch Little Tokoyo (bad spelling!) to temple - I want horses.
Rename the city to Little Tokyo.
What garbage military - all regular spears / any level of warrior.
I disband both regular spearman - I **HATE** regular troops.
(I) ARGGGG - I hate whipped cities, Osaka rioted - city size looked safe.

(4) 1150 BC -
(I) Begin Horseback rider research - 25 turns with positive cash flow.
We have just $99 - can't afford to keep losing money.

(6) 1100 BC - Lee's Gambit is formed.
Edo is formed.
(I) Forbidden palace option already.

(7) 1075 BC - Blasted peace - I see a Russia warrior / settler pair I need to ignore
(I) Kyoto builds spearman, orders another.

(8) 1050 BC - Playing games with Kathy's settler.
(I) Godshome completes VET spearman, orders another.

(9) 1025 BC - Where is that settler hiding
(I) Little Tokyo orders Barracks.
Tokyo orders Barracks

(10) 1000 BC - Still can't locate the settler.

@Lee:
"I disband both regular spearman - I **HATE** regular troops."

Were we over the 2 troops per city limit? If not, we should not disband these guys--the AI counts them, they help for MP, and I don't care if they're relatively worthless or not, but in the Ancient/Middle Ages, when no troops can attack multiple times, an extra body can prevent a city from being captured.
If we were over the 2 troops per city limit, then fine...but I think you may have been too hasty with this, and allowing your personal feelings to override the good of the game.

:cringe:
OK, started game after midnight in a bad mood was not a good choice. It was worse, when I found I couldn't kill Kathy.

I will admit I have a passionate hatred of regular troops. The only regulars I build - warriors, ships and planes.

:smoke: I will concede I earned one of these. I should have moved them north for border patrol.

It's ok, I mean, you're the reason I only build Vet troops (I call it the "LKendter Doctrine") :D

I'm sorry you couldn't :hammer: Cathy, but after our bad move prior to my turn, I felt the only way to make up for it was to end the war as soon as she wanted to (notice that I felt no problem getting stuff out of it). I gave up the opportunity to take out Moscow and beat Cathy. Will I regret it? Tune in next turn...

1100 BC
Edo is building a warrior, change it to a barracks, change the worker from the horses to a coast square to get one more commerce. The shield and gold from the horse hill were going to corruption. by putting it on a coast squaure the food is the same but we get two commerce with a gain of one after corruption. Once we have more workers and can mine the hill, then we can switch back to get an extra shield instead. Switch Godshome off of being managed by a governer! I don't know how Lee missed this one. I can't see him ever letting a governer do anything. Doesn't relly matter as the citty is ugly and can't get past 2 population until we get some irrigation over there. Of course with only two worker we can't do that anytime soon. Change Tokyo from barracks to a worker. Only one more turn of peace with Cathy and her settler/warrior pair would add an extra two half worker to our total. Since we only have 1 1/2 workers now it would be a big help.
I) Osaka finishes a spearman and starts a worker.

1) 975 BC
New spear at Osaka move towrds Little Tokyo. Worker on grass starts mine. Warriors are chasing settler/warrior pair in hopes we can kill them before they settle and we lose the workers.
I) Kyoto finishes a spear and starts a worker.

2) 950 BC
Kyoto spear is fortified as MP.
Spear arrives in Tokyo and fortifies.
Warrior movement shows a barb horseman about to attack the Russian settler/spear. I hope the barb loses.....of course if we can't kill them first better that the barbs get them.
I) Barb horseman bypasses the Russian settler pair on grassland to attack our warrior on a mountain. It dies, but gives yet another example of the AI favoring itself.

3) 925 BC
Start southern worker on irrigation to get some growth to Godshome. Spear arrives in Little Tokyo and fortifies, just in time to keep it from rioting when it grows to four.
Darn Russians settle on a hill across a river. We will have to cross the river before we can attack and that will give second warrior time to get there. Of course, second warrior is attacked by another barb horseman.
Kyoto finishes a worker and starts on an archer.
Osaka finishes a worker and starts an archer.

4) 900 BC
Kyoto worker starts helping irrigation project. Osake moves to get horses on line asap. Horses will be a lot faster than iron at this point.
I) Cathy askes us to move our troops and we refuse. We are back at war with her again as we should be.

5) 875 BC
One warrior dies but we take Kiev (no workers though). This keeps Cathy from getting horses anytime soon. Archer are on the way to St. Petersburg. Move science up to get horseback Riding in 5 turns instead of nine.
I) Godshome finishes a spearman and starts a worker.

6) 850 BC
Since second spear in Godshome does no good, we send to towards the front lines were we have warriors on MP. Worker starts road on horse hill, finished in 6 turns. Normally mine before road but in this cases Little Tokyo has enough mines and we need the horses connect yesterday. Archers still approaching St. Pete.
I) Little Tokyo finishes a barracks and starts a worker.

7) 825 BC
Workers move to irrigate new square with road on it. This square will allow Godshome to grow. Archers on moutain one square away from St.Pete see barb horseman in place to attack. We will root for him to be successful.
I) The barb is sucessfull!!!! St. Pete is undeafended, unfortunately it will take two turns to get there and hopefully a spear won't suddenly appear. The barb also killed a Russain worker in the city. That hurt as we could have used it. Any bets on a mysterious spear popping up before we get there?
Kyoto finishes an Archer and starts another.

8) 800 BC
Spear reaches Osaka and fortifies to prevent rioting as Osaka grows. Archers will enter St. Pete next turn if no spear appears.
I) No spear, but the pop drops to one! Cathy must have just used the whip and it will now autoraze.

9) 775 BC
St. Pete auto razes. Archers turn towards Moscow. Once we have Moscow, we must quickly finish our island and get contact with others. She must have jst put down a city on the shore as her borders look a little funny now in that area.
I) Finish with Horseback riding and start Writing 13 turns at break even. We need contact.
Osaka finishes an archer and starts a settler.
Tokyo finishes barracks and starts a worker.
Godshome finishes a worker and starts a temple. It can now work the irrigated plains and can grow.

750 BC
Start second irriagted plains for Godshome. Archers and warrior continue to move towards Moscow.
Worker moved to help finish road to horses. This will shave one turn off and we will be able to build horseman. We can then mine the hill and give it to Edo for the shield.

Let's finish Russia this time and get our island settled. It looks like we have a lot of iron that we can sell to other civs for big prices, if we get settled and have contact.

REMEMBER: We cannot keep any Russian cities. If we capture a capital, move the troops out and abandon it.

Erik Mesoy posted on 6/21 that he was gone for a week, so for now he's passed over, but I'm not dropping him from the rotation unless he's skipped a 3rd time.

Inherited turn:

Whoa, why are so many workers stacked at Godshome irrigating a tile that won't be put to use for another 10 turns? Well, I'll let them finish.

Swap Osaka to archer. If it turns out we don't need this archer for the war, it can be swapped back to settler later. Also wake the elite warrior there - it isn't needed for police, and it might help in the war. (A Great Leader here would be HUGE - Pyramids, anyone?)

Godshome does not need to build a temple - expanding will gain it nothing. Swap to worker - it isn't going to get big for a while anyway.

Raise Research to 80%; same as in LK27, there's really no reason to ever run something between none/min and high-as-you-can-tolerate research. -6 gpt is fine when we have 150 in the bank.

730: road to Horses completes, swap everyone building archers to horsemen.

A Russian archer pops out of Moscow and kills one of ours. Our warrior from the north kills the archer and goes elite. But another Russian archer kills that warrior. I swap Lee's Gambit to spearman (yes, it won't be veteran) and decide to wait until that gets there to move anything else next to Moscow.

630: Moscow drops to size 1! No settler in sight. Cathy begs for a peace treaty. We say Go Away. A Russian archer leaves Moscow. I attack it with our elite warrior, which wins with 1 HP left but no GL. I then move 3 archers and a horse next to Moscow to cover the warrior (so much for waiting for that spear.)

610 BC: Horseman attacks. Regular spear dies.
Archer attacks. Loses, but regular spear down to 1 HP and no other defenders showing.
Archer attacks.

:goodjob: This land is our land! :hammer:

Kyoto to settler. Little Tokyo to settler. Osaka to settler. Lee's Gambit to settler. Maybe one of them should go for a wonder instead -- Osaka or Little Tokyo could be swapped by the next leader.

590: Writing comes in. Map Making next - we've got to find other civs, and the jungle towns could REALLY use harbors. Monarchy is tempting, but it's twice the price of Map Making, but we can do it next.

India builds the Oracle.

 Hah hah hah - this didn't help us but it was hilarious - a barb comes out of nowhere from the east of where Moscow was, and kills the last Russian worker that was there! One final insult to the Russians beyond the grave!! :spank:

(Barbs can use roads in neutral territory. I never saw that happen before. Horseman takes care of the camp.)

ct4-550bc.jpg

The horseman in Osaka is not fortified because I had him running around to whereever police was needed for a turn. Keep the other horses running around looking for barbs. All three Granaries are there as prebuilds for Harbors (Godshome could build the granary before a harbor, but it won't help the other two without a harbor.)

I didn't get to do much anything to bet up Kathy.

This land is OUR land - OK - We should start thinking location for the FP. This is a small map, so the FP will make a HUGH difference.

Gentlemen, I'll be out of town (and away from Civ  ) from Saturday to Tuesday night, so if God doesn't get his turn in before Friday afternoon, skip me. I may end up skipping myself even if he is done in time; it depends on what games that I'm up in I can get done tonight (don't worry, Lee, I'm doing LK27 first :D )

Got it. This will be my last turn. I'm going on vacation. Our flight date and all was changed from 2 weeks from now, to tommorow. :(. I thought I could get my SGs done but I guess not. :(. Sorry about that.

530 BC: Osaka completes settler. Starts another. A few workers moved around. Trying to get irrigation to Lee's Gambit.

510 BC: Our horesmen destroys and Celtic encampment. We loot 25 gold from them.

490 BC: Kyoto completes settler, starts another. I would like to build a city over Moscow, but we will get a lot of wasted tiles that way. We can always squeeze in "Cathy's Grave".

470 BC: Our horsemen is attacked by a conscipted barb horsie and wins. No promotion. The American city of Washington has completed the Pyramids. Why is my domestic advisor so happy about that? Baldur's Gate aka. Satsuma estd. 470 BC.

450 BC: Our horsemen disperse a Yagoi camp and get hold of 25 gold.

430 BC: Little Tokoyo completes a settler, starts on a worker. Dagerfall estd.

410 BC: Osaka completes settler. Starts spearman. WTH! I see an Indian city by the name of Bengal in the north. They must be close by. No contanct made as yet. We disperse a Macaroni :D encampment, loot $25, and get our vet. promoted to an elite.

390 BC: WTH! Look at this:
3Chrth.jpg

A bard horsie and warrior approach Baldur's Gate. India has landed another settler and spearman! We should destroy their 2 cities.

370 BC: Kyoto finishes settler, starts worker. Our warrior is attacke by the barb warrior and wins. The horse pillages our irrigation. I reply with an attack, and we win again.

350 BC: Last turn: Little Tokoyo completes worker, starts horesman. Osaka complets spearman, starts settler. Satsuma estd. starts warrior. I talk to Ghandi! Holy Sh!t, we are behind in tech.
4ChrTh.jpg

Our empire. We are behind in score, everything with India.
