As we are starting a new one, we might as well have an easy question.

Who is all-time top scorer in the Brazilian League?

Nope. Trick question, you see?

i think friedenreich has the unofficial record.:confused:

Right! Artur Friedenreich scored about 1300 goals (not sure of the exact number) in the 20s and 30s. New question, please.

Which Brazilian seventies superstar was an unrepentant chain-smoker, and also a Doctor?

There is some doubt about Pele's record:
He claimed to have scored 1000+ 'first class' goals. 'First class' is usually taken to mean either competitive Internationals or when playing in the topmost league of your country. I don't know the facts but some people claim Pele included friendlies and non-top-league matches.
Not that it matters - Pele was the ultimate footballer and also coined the phrase 'the beautiful game'. Good enough for me.

Yes, exactly! Didn't I say Artur Friedenreich had 1300 goals, not Pele?

As for the current question, I have no idea. I'll bet on Zico.

Tostao? Nope.
Another clue - he sounds like he should be playing for a completely different country in the Mediterranean - not only that, but about 2,000 years ago.

Here's an easy one::
The Brazilian league started to be called that way in 1972. In 1997, one player scored 29 goals in a single season, breaking the previous record. Who is he?

Indeed, I made it too easy in the end but the quiz must go on. But what a great name, I just remember one commentator saying something like "the brilliant, chain-smoking Doctor Socrates" and I fell about laughing. Too cool!

29 goals in 1997, must be romario.

Nope.
He is known as a trouble maker, and he've played for the teams of Napoli and Fiorentina IIRC.

:) edmundo!
