Amsterdam nowadays only has one professional Football Club, but there used to be more. Name two others. (I'll count the unification all the others made at some point as good asnwer too)
Is there anyone who'd like to continue the quiz by answering? Here is a question, anyway. Try to find the name of this club:
The home country of this club used a peculiar point system in their league from 1935 to 1973. Instead of using the familiar 2 points for win, 1 point for draw, 0 points for loss system, they used 3-2-1 (W-D-L) and 0 points if the team in question did not turn up. This did not actually change anything except that it added the number of games to the point sums. This is presumably the first time in the history of football that 3 points has been used for a win. The country is not particularly famed for it's football skills, and has only reached the World Cup Finals once.
They have yet to score a single goal in the World Cup Finals.
The club in question won the League Championship in 1963 after a coin toss - two teams had ended on equal points but different goal differences, yet they played a play-off to place the Championship somewhere. However, the play-off ended 3-3 after extra time. Penalty competitions not yet invented, and the next season closing in, it was decided to make a coin toss about the Championship.
The club has won the League ten times and the National Cup eleven times, and reached the semi-final of the UEFA Cup in 1976 [edit: 1977, sorry]. They lost this with an aggregate score of 1-5 to Juventus. Last season's European Cup adventures (2000-01) ended with an aggregate 0-6 loss in the Fourth Round of the UEFA Cup, and they were the only team from this country to play in the UEFA Cup's 4th Round.
I think you may have your UEFA cup year wrong Håkon. Liverpool beat FC Bruges in the final that year so Juventus couldn't have won a semi-final against whoever.
sorry I didn't say anything.....had not much time to visit this place....Blauw-wit was correct, rood-wit not: you could've said f.e. DWS. Doesn't matter, the game goes on the unification was FC Amsterdam.
Monaco is right as is Wenger. Same for Cup Winners Cup and Lisbon.
The year was 1992 though
But you got it almost right so you should post the next question
My question is pretty much the same. My favourite team, FC Porto, won also one european trophy. When was that, what was that trophy, what was the opponent and the venue, and finally, what was the score?
Bonus question: a few years before, Porto played another final. It was the Cup Winners Cup and we lost. Do you know the name of the opponent?
P.S. For Hitro: do you recall a certain Champions League match in 93/94, I think, in Bremen between Werder Bremen and FC Porto?
That was in 1987 in Vienna. Porto won against Bayern Munich 2-1.
The first goal was an amazing one scored by Madjer.
Trophy was Champions Cup (predecessor of Champions League).
I can't answer the bonus question without looking it up though...

No...
Well okay, sure I do.
I think that was Werder's highest home defeat ever in European Cups.
I prefer remembering the game against Anderlecht from that year.
That's it. It was the happiest day of my life as a football fan.
Later that year, Porto would win the Intercontinental Cup against Peñarol and the Supercup against Ajax.
The answer to the bonus question was Juventus in 1984 (2-1).
It's your turn then.
I prefer remembering the game against Anderlecht from that year.
Now that's a club!!! De herdertjes lagen bij naaaaachten, ze lagen bij nacht in het veld, daar hooorden ze engelen ziiingen....AJAX, AJAX, AJAX
Yep...1987.....Europacup II for us. Ajax silenced the people who said a Dutch club could never win a European trounament again....PSV did it a year later again, and Ajax in 1992 and 1995. Yeah.....before that Bosman-**** happened Ajax could've ruled Europe for another 3 years......even with all the good players leaving they got into the '96 finals and '97 semi-final....

What was the first name of the Superduper football team called today Arsenal, and what was their second name ?
Bonus question: Who is the all times scorer for arsenal ?

Your answer is correct, not sure about Liverpool though. Ajax and Bayern won 4 times, AC Milan 5 times, and Real 8 times. To answer your question (wild guessing), the Gunners London.
