Good luck to any of you here. I have to make a pause in this forum as I have to write exams from tomorrow. So this month I won´t return. And next month will be questionable until the end. But then I return.

Adler
You sure will leave a void after you.
Good luck with your exams and welcome back after the job is done.:)

That was exactly what I meant, so thanks for clarifying.:)
I will submit some time during the evening.
Well, I have no idea about those things, so I wasn't really aware of the difference.

Well, good luck, Adler, and come back soon.

In the meanwhile, Till submitted an answer scoring 12.5 points. Also, I'd like to remind you that the deadline will be in less than 24 hours, tomorrow 6 PM GMT+1.

Current scoreboard:
El_Tigre and Ciceronian both 27 p
sydhe 18 p
jeriko one 16 p
Till 12.5 p
shortguy 11.5 p
Rambuchan 9.5 p
Ciceronian's dad 1 p

With the deadline coming closer and closer, the tension comes to a climax: Will this quiz end as a draw between El_Tigre and Ciceronian? Or will one of the two manage to raise his score? In the meanwhile luceafarul is couching in the background; Will he maybe outdo the current leaders? Or will Ciceronian's dad surprise everybody and win this quiz? Questions over questions...

(Yes, I realise I'm over-dramatising )

I've maxed out my score in this quiz, it all depends on Ciceronian now (and luceafarul).

Whether I get ahead of you or not will probably depend on whether I manage to get question 10 or not. I have the feeling I'm a whisker away from getting it, I just have to ponder a bit longer.
I think a good way of resolving a draw would be that Aion asks a question with a numerical answer, we PM him our estimates and the closest delivers the next quiz. But luceafarul will probably make that unneccessary...

You too?! Well, that feeling faded away several day ago...

I agree - on both points. ;)

 So how much is my silence worth then?:D
Ahem, well... perhaps if I win this quiz and make a new one, I might just casually let slip an answer or two to you...;)

Sorry, you are a nice guy and everything, but I have turned down better offers.
We have to agree about a decent amount of gold per turn, I am afraid...:mischief:

Well, wouldn't an aura of magnanimity and tacit superiority be an reward in itself?! :mischief:
I have already tried that.
To quote the first official World champion of chess, Wilhelm Steinitz, when asked why he, in an advanced age continued to seek for further glory:
" I can do without the honour, but not the money".:D
Wifey has some expensive habits...

Well, I don't think I have enough gold to catch up your tech lead!

:shakehead :shakehead

I see. Ferengi Rule of Acquisition #109 ("There is no honor in poverty") seems to apply here.

On the other hand, should you fail to reach our score: Sic tacuisses...

Oh, there is a lot of honor in poverty, but not much else unfortunately.
I am not afraid of not staying a philosopher anyway. At least I am not the one who wiill spend a sleepless night worrying whether I will be dethronized or not...:D
@Aion: Change of plans. Due to an acute attack of RL my submission will be early tomorrow. (Perhaps I will be able to ransack my brain and remember what cities there is in those photos also. I really hate photos of cities! )
I wish everybody a nice evening.:)

Hehe, excellent psychological warfare. I'm sure Ciceronian and El_Tigre will spend sleepless nights

It is getting harder and harder for the old lion to keep the young rivals at bay, I am afraid, and then one has to resort to those tactics to survive...
Anyway, I just submitted, and I am not at all sure about how this will turn out.

So luceafarul sent me his submission and scores...

Spoiler :

35 points!!!

That's an amazing effort, which of course puts luceafarul in the leading position :goodjob: Sorry for Ciceronian and El_Tigre, but the old lion has striken again ;)

I will announce the final result and the answers this evening 6 PM CET.
