Come on, guys! Give it a shot! :p

That's all !!! :(
Where did I make mistakes ? I know I did not check Phoenican cities (thought I did not need, maybe I did :p ).

Edited to 8. You definitely got no.2 wrong and I gave you half points for 1 and 6. ;)

Would prefer no 'checking'... Just a on-the-spot quiz...

You call this easy??:crazyeye:  :) ;) I think I can only answer about 3 questions...

Well... it is easy to me, about half the questions. :) :p

Let's hope round2 will be 'easier'. :ack:

42 hours to go! Give it a try - I'm not expecting everyone to get everything correct - just a friendly competition to see who can get the most correct answers, without contamination. ;)

1) Who was Dorgon?
Son of Nuerhachi; brother to Hung Taiji, the 2nd Manchu leader. Regent to the Shunzhi emperor when Hung Taiji died in 1643. He was the one leading the Manchus into China, with Wu Sangui's connivance, and performed ably until his death in 1650.

2) How many emperors did the Qin dynasty of China produce?
3. Qin Shihuang; then the 2nd emperor, who was murdered; and one last one just in time to hand over the Imperial Seal and the city of Xianyang to Liu Bang's forces.

Phocaea.

4) Name the two home ports (not colonies) of the Phoenicians.
Sidon and Tyre.

5) Who were the Sicels?
Native bronze age inhabitants of Sicily; encountered by th Greek colonists as they found settlements along the east coast.

6) In the mid-8th century, the Tang empire of China lost 2 major battles, which marked the end of its foreign expansion. Which two enemies did the Chinese fight?
The Arabs, and the Nanchao kingdom (in modern Yunnan).

7) In which year was Singapore founded?

9) During the Napoleonic Wars, what had happened to the Dutch territories in the East Indies?
Took over by the British; lest they fell into French hands.

Canada and India.

"10) During the Seven Years' War betw Britain and France, in which two major regions did the two fight, apart fr Europe; making it the first somewhat global war in history?
Canada and India. "

I contest that answer and defend North America and India as being more valid. The fighting between New France and New England first was not centered solely in the parts of New France that would become Canada (thinking Ohio valley here), and second there were strikes from the French forces into American territory, especially in the early days of the war.

:-)

I tend to agree with Oda. But, Oda, I think XIII accepted North America and India otherwise I would not have had my 8 points.

Glad to know "South of the Clouds" was the second one. ABout the Qin that is not the first time I make that mistake (always rushing) albeit I would have said 2 after thinking, considering the last not worth mentionning though he obviously is, if only as a source of legitimity.

Sure I will do the second round, less centered on Eastern Asia (not that I mind these areas:love: ) but they were slightly over-represented (Singapore ;) ).
I am going to sleep now so expect it tomorrow.

I dunno. I'm wondering where I would have lost that other .5 then because I should have 3.5 by my count ^^;

I would accept North America for no. 10), since my definition of 'region' is probably too vague in the question. ;)

Since I've already deleted all the PMs, can't check...

@LouLong - :p

Edited one rule - the quiz setter can set up all 10 questions any how he wants - whether on a specialized theme (WW2, Ancient Rome etc) or general. ;)

Realized it might be too troublesome for some to come up with a wide-ranging quiz, though I hope it'll lean towards a more generalized one.

To answer this Quizz, send me a PM with all answers and please avoid discussing questions here.
Obviously with some research, everybody could come up with the good answers but that is not the main interest here, so please reply quickly without looking too much for informations.

Loulong's Quizz :

1- in the "Chanson de Roland", who kills Roland ? (be careful there is a trick here).

2- What is the original name of Parthians and why did they change names ?

3- Who was Hedwige of Poland ?

4- Was the battle of Kadesh between the Egyptians and the Hittites a victory or a defeat for Ramses ?

5- How many states did the Jutes create in the British Isles during the Great Invasions ? Can you name them ?

6- The Medicis are a well-known family of bankers and early capitalists of the Renaissance. Another family was as powerful but not Italian. Can you name them ?

7- Did England have to give back all Hong Kong territories in 1997 ? Why did they do so ?

8- What's the "Gabelle" ? (hint in another thread)

9- When was the Guo Ming Tang created ?

10- What country was the top beneficiary from the Marshall Plan after WWII ?

Oops :( I think my Quizz was a bit on the tough side. Still one and a half day to go.

Scores at the moment :

Pawpaw : 5

Mongoloid Cow : 3

XIII : 2.5
