Current (SVN) development discussion thread

Unless super London or Guangzhou get in the way, I think it's doable with size 17. It'll take some micromanaging and timing to get there but that's how it should be.

London should have resources gradually spawn, it gets too big too fast currently

I find that 3000BC England is worse then 600AD England. I've got limited sample, though.

New commit is up, including the new Aztec goals and the following civic changes:
- Dynasticism happiness is now capped at +8
- Theocracy now allows to hire unlimited priests
- Autocracy now gives +3 happiness with barracks
- Totalitarianism now allows to hire unlimited spies

Afghanistan and Persia should have Orthodoxy in the start of 600 AD Scenario to represent the Orthodoxy and Nestorian community there.. and in 3000 BC perhaps Orthodoxy missionaries should be more encouraged to visit these cities :D

Immigrants bringing their culture to the destination city has an adverse and bizarre side effect as seen here.

Spoiler :

Indonesian immigrants to Brasilia allowed Indonesia to ask for the city during a Congress, which was actually successful for them.

So, for a fix, and I'm not sure if this is possible, but I suggest that there be a floor limit for culture to be able to ask for a certain city, say 30% culture. This might help, if it's possible.

Oh. Yes.

:( I uninstalled Civ, uninstalled DoC, updated my video drivers, reinstalled Civ up to latest BtS patch, reinstalled Doc and I still have the same issue.

According to FRAPS I'm getting 2-4 FPS, WTH.

Turns out my config file was epically broken.

Quick question, shouldn't TortoiseSVN works fine with Windows 8?
Because it won't download files...

EDIT:
Command: Checkout from https://subversion.assembla.com/svn/Dawn_of_Civilization, revision HEAD, Fully recursive, Externals included
Error: Can't make directory 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's
Error: Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Dawn_of_Civilization': Access is denied.

Completed!:

It works for me. Maybe try to run it in administrator mode. (I don't need to)

Leo, with the last svn version I keep getting errors regarding city flips on civ spawns...I can provide screenshots if needed!

In the american game I loaded I only flip one city and get a minuteman at the north pole. Also during the loading a lot of errors (of the same type) pile up until the auto-play ends.

Yeah, screenshots please.

As for the SVN checkout, make sure you have the right privileges to create folders where you're doing the checkout.

Not you too. I have no idea why some people get an exception there and the rest don't.

All I can do for you is telling you to open Assets\Python\RFCUtils.py and put a # before lines 604 and 605.

I think I will remove embassies soon. The AI wastes too much time building them.

Perhaps the discovery of Paper could make all contacts permanent instead. Or keep them but make them cost 1/4 the hammers they do now. I like the loss of contact, but it's highly unrealistic in the late game (especially since embassies are destroyed when you go to war).

Currently it's Electricity that makes contacts permanent which kind of makes sense because of telegraphs.
