Cycles of Arete

Then I tender my resignation to the Cycles of Arete as High Marshal, and would only run Edorai as Governor, if I am even wanted there. I also leave Cycles of Arete, since I call for effective leadership and chains command on an ongoing basis. With long period of absenteeism, no chain of command and absolute veto rights of a few, I think it is high time for a Prime Faction election (I would like to see Hereditary Rule, Representation and Police State on that list).

Sorry to see The Warloards disassociate from the COA, Provo. Sorry to see you go also. None of this had to happen. It should not have happened. I had to step in and take control of the wild situation.

Your honor, Justinian declared war on us, and I had nothing to do with his outrage towards us. Provo is the High Marshall, and he said to declared war. I thought I had to listen to the High Marshall and the High Steward. And if you think that I would do something that the people didn't want, I am also very seriously thinking about resigning to become an indepenent, but take notice that I haven't resigned yet.

I hereby formally resign from my position as regent. King Cyc is not a good leader to the good nation of Aretania.

I think we can have a poll over the option of Civil War (multiteam game where Arete is divided in equal sizes, and a GM balances out the positions) or poll over if we are to have a peaceful settlement on the manner (small palace coup, represented by "election poll").

Thats insane!

We need to think of gameplay and what were going to do to stop the Mayan Armada which could potentially ruin New Arkadia for us.

I think we can handle both options TCN, you are more than welcome to join MAD, as you see, we got a clear plan to handle this situation.

Cyc calls the King's Court to order. The throne room is filled with everyone and anyone who caried weight in Arete. All looked to the King.

"In these troubled times we must all search for our own answers. From butcher to scribe, from Lady to Lord. All must define the present as we wade through the moment in time. We redefine the past to help us move into the future. We strive to remember the things we need to, while we hope to forget the things that pain us.

It is my hope that I have served you well these last few years, that this Crown has help Aretan grow and prosper and reach the goals we have aimed for. Deep within this glorious Monarchy are all of you. Your hopes and desires, patriotism and your careers, all here, before us.

Nestled in this era of enlightened growth, is one such citizen whose efforts shall not go unrewarded. A citizen who flourished in the Government when he stepped in to help. Whose creativity and hard work brought us closer to where we all wanted to be. He helped mold a mighty state's decrees, and shape the whisper of the throne.Today is that citizen's day. That citizen is Lord Civius."

Vocal eruptions, long and lasting applause filled the King's Court. People would glance to the left or right hoping to see Lord Civius, but none the less, the applause kept coming.

The King raised his hands to quite the crowd. "Today is when the Crown shall try to repay Lord Civius for his hard work. With this scepter, I don Lord Civius the title of Admiral. Supreme Commander of the Seas. He will take the Port Civius Naval Base as his own. From there he will command all of our Navy, and all Naval Operations to come. To better equip this man with the tools he needs for a successful Navy, I am also making him Governor of Cordoba. He has the Keys to the City, and it is his to govern."

Again, the room exploded with noise. People began to cheer and chant 'Admiral! Admiral!'.

I truly support this excellent motion, to make Lord Admiral Civius reign the Western Ocean!

OOC: And please forget the judicial Kraken that tries to sink our game as well!!! We deserve better than that!

:king:

We have forged the kingdoms of this continent into a true

Aretanian empire. Everywhere, the Aretanian nation is

triumphant. The Aretanian civilization is no longer a pale

ghost wandering powerless among the political shards of

yesteryear. We now march through time as THE world power. But

these victories also bring responsibilities. What was at stake

were not the political or religious acts themselves, but the

improvement of mankind. What truly mattered were the deeds of

the spirit that followed political deeds like the rain after a

clap of thunder that sets the world shuddering. What truly

mattered was that Aretan humanism and the idea of freedom might

continue their march, bringing civilization to the world in all

directions, making Arete the capital of the human spirit.

Yes, my people, the nation of Aretania has evovled before our

eyes. Soon a new form of government will surface and take hold

of our political scene. We will find new ways to view the

future, to raise our country to new heights. We also need to

find new ways in helping the rest of the world join us.

We can no longer resort to elimination of cultures. To burning

cities, burning families, destroying worlds. Yes, there will be

wars ahead, I'm sure of it. Many ideas might disappear as the

Aretan population begins to blanket this planet. That doesn't

mean we have to vanquish all ideas but those that spring from

our homeland. There are others that have ideas that warrant

remembering. We must take this into considration as we begin to

carve our legacy out of the future.

In this consideration, I have made my decision. We shall not

raze the Islamic Holy City of Opis. It shall remain as the

vestige of the Islamic people. After the decades of abuse and

persecusion, Arete will try to repay these people with a small

piece of land, tucked away on the edge of nowhere. An Aretan

city, where people are free to believe in a religion that is

there own. A city in which non-Islamic residents are invited to

participate in the up-building of the city on the basis of full

and equal citizenship, but one whose meaning, mission, and

purpose would nevertheless be derived from the right of the

Islamic Aretanians to be masters of their own fate.

Let the religious extremism end here now, in the great nation

of Aretania. Let a new light shine down upon us as we move

forward into a new world.

Excellent piece King Cyc. I will cede to your wishes and not Raze Opis. It will be renamed though. The GP will build a shrine their and the revenue will help to pay for its maintenance. Once it is able, it will strictly build islamic missionaries if the Federation gains power. Thanks for your leadership in the Great Dynasty of the Cycles.

Lord Civius, your wisdom, leadership, and courage once again prove you worthy to wear the crown. Aretania thanks you. I thank you.

I will fully support the Federation in it's run for Prime Faction. I have read the platform and find it most agreeable.

Thank you Cyc, I hope to persuade you to join ;) . The federations' main goal is to grab the torch from the Cycles and continue our Nation on a path of excellence.

Nice speech, Cyc. I held my breath until now despite having read it before Civius' reply. I have a request - would one of you mind explaining to me what is so good about being kind to the Islamic peoples? I mean, surely, we have the surplus and hindsight to be kind to those we vanquish in war, now, but should we help them spread false knowledge? I think that is taking it too far. Treating the vanquished babylonians properly, fine, but intentionally learning both them and the Aretanians the lies of this Mohammed Prophet, you will have to try and convince me there.

we help them spread false knowledge?

Don't all religions do that to a certain degree?

I say we embrace free religion once the Mayan war is over. Let our scientific minds go from the burden of ancient texts and customs.

:) Thanks, Diamondeye. I have just awoken, not even a cup of coffee yet, but I will try to reply. First of all these "Islamic" peoples, as you like to call them, are in reality Aretanian citizens. Therefore the people of Opis desrve the best we can give them, just like the people in NG who won't work for their living. Second, what they choose to "spread", as you say, is no more false knowledge than what you and your religion "spread". Both you and them spread faith, not knowledge. Knowledge can usually be proven, but niether you or them can bring your Gods to my dinner table. If their preachings are lies, then your's are lies also. Now that we have cleared up this religious hocus-pocus, when you have cleared your mind of hate, you might address your King again with your complaints. But in your hateful state of mind, it's not worth trying to convince you of anything. And please try to refrain from slandering your fellow citizens.
