We have forged the kingdoms of this continent into a true
Aretanian empire. Everywhere, the Aretanian nation is
triumphant. The Aretanian civilization is no longer a pale
ghost wandering powerless among the political shards of
yesteryear. We now march through time as THE world power. But
these victories also bring responsibilities. What was at stake
were not the political or religious acts themselves, but the
improvement of mankind. What truly mattered were the deeds of
the spirit that followed political deeds like the rain after a
clap of thunder that sets the world shuddering. What truly
mattered was that Aretan humanism and the idea of freedom might
continue their march, bringing civilization to the world in all
directions, making Arete the capital of the human spirit.
Yes, my people, the nation of Aretania has evovled before our
eyes. Soon a new form of government will surface and take hold
of our political scene. We will find new ways to view the
future, to raise our country to new heights. We also need to
find new ways in helping the rest of the world join us.
We can no longer resort to elimination of cultures. To burning
cities, burning families, destroying worlds. Yes, there will be
wars ahead, I'm sure of it. Many ideas might disappear as the
Aretan population begins to blanket this planet. That doesn't
mean we have to vanquish all ideas but those that spring from
our homeland. There are others that have ideas that warrant
remembering. We must take this into considration as we begin to
carve our legacy out of the future.
In this consideration, I have made my decision. We shall not
raze the Islamic Holy City of Opis. It shall remain as the
vestige of the Islamic people. After the decades of abuse and
persecusion, Arete will try to repay these people with a small
piece of land, tucked away on the edge of nowhere. An Aretan
city, where people are free to believe in a religion that is
there own. A city in which non-Islamic residents are invited to
participate in the up-building of the city on the basis of full
and equal citizenship, but one whose meaning, mission, and
purpose would nevertheless be derived from the right of the
Islamic Aretanians to be masters of their own fate.
Let the religious extremism end here now, in the great nation
of Aretania. Let a new light shine down upon us as we move
forward into a new world.
