Czar Vladimir

I'd say the chances are about one in a billion. More likely Gordon Brown would kill the queen and declare himself Queen of england.

He could declare himself Czar, or he could just continue ruling Russia indefinitely under pseudo democracy. I'm thinking the latter.

Hey if you replace russia with the USa and add bush thats what bush could do. ANd i'm sure all those people that claim that they would stand by bush no matter what he does would still stand by bush and claim something like "bush said the terrorists are coming and we need nuke the whole mideast just because we want the end of the world to end, and we are happy we are going to heaven!"

Come on man, you soiled my perfectly reasonable post by associating it with your tired drivel. I'm expecting some sort of compensation.

Drivel? Ask the christans that want to end of the world, why they want it?

Monarchy isn't very popular in Russia. It has been heavily demonized by the Communists, who depicted the previous regime as a sort of hell on Earth, obviously to cover the fact that their little hell was much worse.

Russia will stay republican, if you can say that about authoritarian form of government, where the state serves the ruler and his chosen few.

Hey, at least the communists gave lip service to the idea of existing for the people. And I doubt that communist hell is worse then what came before it.

Actually, I do believe that communist rule in Russia was much, much worse than everything they had gone through before, except maybe the Mongol invasion and occupation.

Communists in Russia managed to ruin the country so thorougly, that the living standard fell way beyond the misery of the last decade of Tsarist regime. Then it got better, but only at the expense of millions of lives sacrificed in the name of progress. Russians have paid a terrible price for this experiment, thank God it's over.

No, if I had to choose, I'd rather live in 19th century tsarist Russia than in 20th century communist Russia.

Putin is, most of all, very good at PR. He doesn't give a damn about what Westerners think about him, because his power base is in Russia. So long as he appears strong and determinate, Russians will follow him wherever he'll lead them. Let's hope he's not as paranoid and megalomanic as his predecessors.

Putin? Tsar? Thats just sick and wrong. Restore the proper bloodline! The Romanovs shall rule again

But the so called "Romanovs" are all bunch of krauts. Боже, Царя храни!

Well maybe Nicholas and his idiot father. I argee on that

What do you guys think of the chances of Putin restoring the Russian Empire, and becoming Czar? It would actually make sense from a Historical prospective. He could, in effect, become Russia's Napoleon. After all, I have noticed that many in Russia have been basically begging that he stay on as "National leader". Would it be a stretch to imagine him restoring the title of Czar to himself?

Yea... no.

Holy necro, batman!
