Dark Blue Forum Style Done!

It's there for me
Cool! I see TF has added the hacks, like quick reply, poste number, moved the bottons, etc.

I like the blue and am using it this morning. I will probably have to return to the red, though, because my personal preference is for things to be more subdued in color and intensity. Given the choice of the green or the blue, though, I do prefer the blue :).

Thanks for the new options, TF! Skin Options are good, as long as they don't cause resources/bandwidth/server problems :goodjob: !!

Blue will be very nice, when the colors are less intense .
I most likley will leave the colors the way it is now. They go along with the blue buttons pretty well and changing the color of all the buttons will take too much work.

The blue is a great idea! But the saturation is a killer :(. it's "too" blue. I like the Blue a lot more than the Yellow/Green. :)

Here it is with desaturated (less intense) blue:

I like the initiative of multiple appearances but I do agree with starlifter, the desaturated one looks more stylish as well.

Oh no! Can I give a hand in doing some of the work?

The work aspect should be pretty easy... a simple batch change applied to all icons can fix it uniformly. Better programs can do it with as much ease as changing one. One that I like is Thumbs Plus, which is probably one of the best programs ever made for photos... but it's power is quite easy to use on more trivial things like like limited-color icons used in PC graphics.

I take it you must create/edit all the buttons manually, it's not just a relatively simple Feature or Hack for the BBS?

:)

Hell no!! Each new style has about 80 new images. It would take days to create all of them.

btw, the button colors pretty much determine my color choices for a particular style. I asked myself what colors would get along well with those buttons. :egypt:

A black style, a purple style, and a pale blue white are on the drawing board. :)

Congratulations on 4000 posts TF :goodjob:

Runs off hoping not to be banned for O-T toadying ;)

(sung to the tune of Bicycle by the Beatles):

"I love to watch aquariums, I love to watch the blue......"

nah thanx! I'll stick with red..... (yep I'm an oldfashioned, un-flexible old fart....

I think I understand now.... you just begin with the buttons. Well, that's easy ;). I'll fix the buttons with batch processing :). I'm not a graphics person, but I do use software that makes it easy on me :D.

Good batch processing can change about any image characteristic imaginable.

I need all the 80+ blue images, as I have managed to collect only about 60 of them from the pages. I see where you have them on your site, but I don't have FTP access, and evidently I've missed snagging some from your pages. Most are tiny. If you could zip and attach them, that would be great. I can fix all 80+ in less than 30 seconds, and will fix several versions for you to look at and decide if you would like to use.

I could not find the button list at the vBull site.... maybe they make you pay to enter some of their secret forums, or maybe you get the button list from a hack(3rd party) site.

Anyway, I will also do a Semi-Serpia and Serpia set for you. I assume when you have the buttonset, then you just set the background colors, borders, etc. manually.

PS, if you want me to fix any other colors, just post or PM, and describe the effect you want, and I'll do them & send them back. e.g. you like a set but they are too bright, too dim, too "whatever". I can also do some more "unique" stuff like extrusions and embossings, etc. All this is not hard to do... takes far less time than writing this one post. The "hard" thing is deciding on what effect looks best.

:)

Thanks! I didn't even realize it. I was too busy making styles. :o

Did you get bored today, so you started making new styles?

Because you made three today didn't you?

I could have some fun here though. I wonder if I can get a particular colour of text so that the text disappears for people using blue?

It does not. So :p for you. :D

From the Additional Forum Styles? thread, I posted more info, some of which I'll summarize, then here too.

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29649

I've made some samples from the Bright Blue. For those familiar with image processes, this is just basic desaturation, to show the idea.

Note: there are some artifacts in the 2nd generation JPEG banner saves (the main CivFanatics graphic), which are because of the 2nd generation (e.g., the artifacts can be eliminated in the final revision).

The bottom two are Serpia and Semi-Serpia (SemiSerpia leaves some of the original blue... the Serpia converts fully to the "Antique" look):

I have attached the Semi-Serpia buttons to this post, with the same caveat as before... I still need all of the 80+ buttons you mentioned in order to do a complete, and properly named set. :)

From the screenshots I thought I would quite like the blue style but its just too dark...

Yeah, quick reply is back,so now it is perfect.
