It's official. Darkspore is coming. It even has a date (Feb, 2011).

Action-RPG (Diablo) meets some concepts borrowed from Spore. Upgraded version of the Spore Creature Editor is one of the main features.
Art-wise, seems to be inspired by Starcraft 2 and original Spore. Looks a bit inspired by the Shadowgrounds game.

Dark spore is really for real now. I even got an invite to be a beta tester. I declined–no internet for my home PC.

Dev video diaries confirm its about killing things and taking their loot.

Did anyone participate in the Beta? Apparently Spore owners only had to submit a new creature to get in.

There was a beta for this? Odd, I've submitted a few creatures and never got a message from these guys.

It's in free beta on Steam as of today apparently, so you can check it out yourself.

I was under the impression it was Diablo sci-fi-style mixed with Spore's DIY character scheme.

So did anyone purchase this? I am a huge Diablo fan so I thought maybe I'd be interested...

But this game has gone under the radar BIG TIME. Barely any mentions or reviews anywhere. This is an EA / Maxis release... Something failed along the promo road somewhere.
