well, it was from the Hirachi game, but i think it could work here aswell.
variant goes like this:
we take a vow of poverty and humility, making the people flock to us not only through our super cultured ways but our humility and good nature.

how to do this?
we give away ALL of our techs. to everyone.
we also give away all of our money. we can keep a max of 100g (living stipende).
when we get a new tech we must trade it away that turn.
we can use the gains to rush stuff (not so humble, but when did you hear of a really humble religion-sect-whatchamacallit) but remember - no more than 100 left in the purse at the end of turn.

the humility part can be worked as turning the other cheek (always caving to demands) and not building and more cash related things.
we might even go so far and sell all our banks and markets (but again, never saw a poor church, so i guess we wont sell those we already have)
 
Hey gang; I'm having some medical troubles again. I'm going in for an MRI of my brain and spine this week as well as an EMG (I hope you never have to have this done because it can hurt like hell) of my left arm and leg. This forum, the friends and opportunity to escape now and again have been very therapeutic.

I did a lot of MM with cops and CE, but didn't feel that was worthy of comment. Our military is minimal, but the railnet is up and any AI who wants to try is welcome; yo Ragnor can you hear me? I deliberately MM Uruk so that we can pick up Sanitation in 4, and Darwin in 5. After Sanitation completes, go for the Daily Double so we can get Hoover.We have 36583 culture, producing 623/turn. Our nearest rival has only a third of that. At that rate, we'll finish in 102 turns, or 1864. Just keep building unis and cathedrals, along with banks and exchanges to fuel them. When we pick up Darwin and go for the Daily Double, switch Babylon to Hoover. As soon as Port Said increases pop, whip for a temple.

Admiral, in keeping with the spirit of "Put Away Your Swords", we cannot start any wars. We can threaten and get stuff. If we can goad others into declaring war on us, then by all means finish 'em. I don't think war is necessary, though.

Thanks for the reminder. I won't intentionally start anything. I just get nervous if we don't have 7 or 8 lux to call our own. And if someone does start something, it's always nice to have a fleet waiting to land...

preturn - well this is standard...
startede a detailed log (couldnt do any less than DBear, now could i?)
but nothing much happening, so i decide to ditch the log.

building lots of Libraries, Universities, some temples and more Cathedrals. some markets finish and a few banks roll in.
workers are busy railing, irrigating and chopping jungles in the west and south.

in 1535 i see an Ottonman Longbow walking about. just thought id fill up the log abit.
in 1540 Sanitation comes in, go straight for Atomics and Electro.
in 1545 the walking monkeys are in, we get atomics and electro. start on STEEL.
up sci to 70 so we shave a turn off, not losing cash.
change Babylons Army to HOOVERS due in 8.

1550 Scandinavia and Rome sign a MPP. BAD for us warmongers.
1560 sees some luck at last, i hope. Murisilis dares Demand Sanitation. i tell him to go away and stop bothering me. he complies.

had something very weird happen just now. mid set my keyboard died on me.
kept on the game with just the mouse. saved. then found out the keyboard was unplugged by the subwhooper.
ok - no more loud music while civving.

rifining is due in 5. hoovers in 3. started a few hospitals, but feel free to add some more if you want to.
nothing to trade (cash is nonexsistant, tech? :lol: )
nothing really changed in the map, but we have a bunch of WLTKDs.

i think i only built 5 units, so i guess the rest are culture stuff.
