December World - game thread

I fixed a few things that were missing from the update:
  • the "Pirates of the Caribbean" quest (Caribbean Region) was updated with Confederate action;
  • the "Leaking Dams" quest (Low Countries) has been updated with Communard France losses.

From the North German Federation
To the Confederacy of America

We would like to ask on which world and century did you believe that negotiating with accursed pirates is an acceptable act in this modern world.

From Pacific Directory
To Citizens of Qing

The Pacific Directory will continue to keep its borders open to all refugees from the War of Southern Aggression. The lands of Kamchatka and Alaska are vast and peaceful, with plenty of land for enterprising immigrants looking for a fresh start for themselves and their families. The workhouses of Kamchatka are always looking for laborers and guarantee food and lodging while you pick yourselves back up. Let your children grow up free, move before its too late.

I have finished sending out research PMs to all of you active players. Inactive players: your options haven't changed since the last turn if you didn't submit orders. For minor powers, it means you've got no options so far. Make sure to be actively playing if you want some technology to research.

Also, reminding to everyone, that in a single turn you can activate up to 1 technology (it'd appear in your capital region as a Technology Quest, and it'd require a unit to progress). Other techs can be either kept (you'll see them as your options next turn) or discarded (they go away to someone else). Make sure to include your decision in your orders.

Also, I've been asked before it players can suggest new techs. Yes, you can. PM me about what you suggest, I will review it and let you know if it can be done and how.

Stop driving your boats around in such a threatening manner near our waters. The Free Boer Republik is FREE, you see, so we won't be tolerating any imperialist adventurist nonsense in our neck of the woods. Keep rattling sabers, by all means. See what happens.

Are y'all out of your damn minds? What you ain't got nothing better to do than stir up trouble huh and get all the locals agitated? Get your affairs in order.

We thank the queen for your enormous hospitality as our delegation was treated with great respect. We understand there have been some learning hiccoughs, but that's nothing a bit of Dr. Lampshade's Miracle Cough Syrup can't cure! Hahaha! Long live the Queen of Portugal-Brazil, and may our good attitudes be a sign of things to come.

Greetings, citizens of Kaapstaad. It is I, the Mayor of Kaapstaad, Garland Saaft. Some of you may know me better as the Baron of Table Mountain. Now my friends, fellow citizens, some of you have been asking about some of the new regulations put out by the Guardswatch, asking about the curfews and some of the new zoning and housing permit confusions... holdovers from the English Mismanagement. This is all understandable as recent years have seen quite a lot of changes for our little city, that affect all of us from the Great - like Me - to each and everyone one of you little people who helps this city trundle along. The history of Kaapstaad is the history of hardship, struggle, - and industry! We always come out on top in the end, don't we? Nay-sayers said that losing a British king would be the end of the world, but now look! Kaapstaad's ports are bustling like never before. I've been told by my advisors that trade has quadrupled in the past month alone. When I hear these things and I look out the window of my Grand Manor and see the lights speckling the beautiful pier and dotting the city, I know I'm looking at the Kaapstaad of my father, and my father's father, who were true Boers - Boers who built this city even while the English tried to despoil it. My friends, we are now living in a time where change is the norm. So you may look around and say, what's all this fuss? Well, that's just the malcontents and the rabble-rousers, the gangs, and those on the payroll of the English King. True Boers have no time for such nonsense, and neither does any other subject of our grand and Free Republic. We are equal and free, as ordained by our republican principles, and no amount of English monarchist chicanery is going to change that any time soon, believe you me!

this so called security operation of yours, have clearly gotten out of hand. We demand a halt to such activities.

I will make sure my soliders exercise more care when stopping the black hand and make sure they stop committing genocide. I don't know why they decided to start performing genocide. I did not tell them to do that in my orders.

We can accept that we suppose.

(OOC: Just to make things clear. What your units do is not always what you tell them to do. If you get a bunch of armed military men who were taught mostly to kill other military men to perform an anti-terrorist operation, they will do so the way they were taught. You can ask a dog to be very careful bringing you a cup of coffee, and the dog may really, really try, but be prepared to have your coffee spilled all around the place.

If anything, the Boer Republic was much more specific about the way they wanted civilians to be treated. Which doesn't change the fact that Voivodian Serbs got hurt probably just as much as the Kaapstadt English settlers.)

Lies and slander by the liberal globalist media, as always.

Rejoice, o forumites, for the stats are now updated and public!

Let me know if you something suspicious or straight out wrong there. Links are the same.

Sorry about the update taking so much time. I've been sick for two days AND slammed at work.

P.S. I'll work on the map soon.

Few notes to add:
1. I now see I forgot to fix the Faroe Islands ownership, as pointed out by @Bair_the_Normal . Yes, again. Consider it a punishment for not receiving your last turn orders. (But seriously, I just forgot and don't want to re-edit and download everything again.)
2. @J.K. Stockholme helped me with editing North American borders to match real-life states, with @thomas.berubeg 's agreement. But I have lost his edits now and need to receive them again. Anyway, it'll be done sooner or later, if you guys don't start a war or something.

From Bugyō Ōta Ieyasu, director of Japanese Foreign Affairs
To the Taiping Kings,

The invasion of the Qing by your regime shatters the peace of Asia. Your assault has destabilized the region and endangers all our peoples’ prosperity. Your invasion upsets the balance of power in the region... ...and to be clear- your annexation of the Qing state would upset the balance of power especially.

Your stated cause for attack has been to prevent an attack by the Qing against your nation. Your assault precludes that; you have obtained your war-goals. Ensure your neighbors and the world that your assault was not a blatant attempt to aggrandize your territory at the cost of your neighbors’ lives; withdraw from the Qing lands- permanently.

Japan is willing to mediate a peace between the people of the Quin and the Taiping, one that ensures your war-aims are secured – that you needn’t fear an attack by the Qing people in the future. We will work with the Qing (or Qing successor state) to stabilize their government, rebuild their nation, and develop clear legal and treaty limitations that would guarantee the Qing respect the territorial integrity of the Taiping.

From Bugyō Ōta Ieyasu, director of Japanese Foreign Affairs
To the Qing,

The Taiping have defeated you. We offer to mediate a peace that would see their withdrawal from your lands. In exchange you would be required to sign a treaty dictating your respect for the territorial integrity of the Taiping state.

We also offer to assist in rebuilding your nation in the aftermath of this aggression.
