Deities in Calamity (DIE)

@JBossch
Spoiler :

I played on in my game (from the last update) but not really far as I spend lots of time studying for my matura oral exams :(

I got DOWd by shaka as well... All I've seen from him was a galley from where he suicided 2 chariots against a sword in a forest :lol: Dunno how it is in your game but he still didn't show up with a real stack (after nearly 1000 yrs of war). If monty declares though I'm toast. But then I guess everyone is, in that game :p

My point is, a DOW by shaka only doesn't mean you're screwed at all. Just carry on picking on GK if shaka doesn't show up with any stacks. It sounds as though he DOWd a few turns ago, so if there is no stack now, there probably won't be any in the near future...

@Mystyfly:
Spoiler :
He brought a smallish stack to my southern city and I couldn't defend it. I should be able to hold him off further north as long as he doesn't bring anything else but I think he may have run away after I gifted his target to Monty as I have lost sight of his stack. We will see in a few turns though.

You are right that I should play on. Related to this, I have a bad habit in Civ of quitting when things don't go exactly as planned instead of adapting. I have gotten better about this but largely its just that I got good enough to play immortal without the AI doing much to upset my beautiful settlement plans and so forth. On Deity, I simply have to recognize that adaption is key, rather than quitting because I got beat to the city spot I wanted or got inconveniently DoWed by Shaka.

Thanks!

Spoiler :

I think Shaka chose you as a target since Monty's power was above his DOW threshold, so you should check that at the time when Shaka went WHEOOHRN to prepare for it.

Also, I think your settlement on the west coast is not a good movement for 3 reasons:
1. The risk of being declared by Monty with early border contact
2. Far from your capital, further crash your economy
3. Hard to defense due to the distance and non-hill city.

Spoiler :
1. Probably right but at the time of settling it, the city was only bordered by barb cities which I hoped to raze because they were highly suboptimal.
2. Yep. I waited until the last minute to found it for this reason.
3. It was on a hill.
In any case, its Monty's city now, and I got +4 for fair trade relations.
