deity aw 4: the three musketeers

I'd settle 1NE of stone. On a hill which may be important early game. 5 resources assembled in BFC and room for a pretty good sheltered city 3w1N if we also settle 1E of the big red cross (good first blocker). Stone in BFC is great we should be able to get a quarry up in time.

Settling on stone saves valuable time but it's a horrible spot in every aspect, doesn't block, food poor and not on a hill. Better build/steal an extra worker for getting that quarry up fast.

Dirk, planing to steal a worker on deity AW is really not a guaranteed thing. We must assume that we can not and plan accordingly.

^You can't play a game like this live on youtube. Maybe play it first then edit in comments later.

@obsolete absolutely no guarantee but in that case we should build a second worker.

Guess I can live without seen this on youtube, although that would be wanted by many here I believe. But can we please make sure Japan and Hanni are available here (are not already presented)? I still want to try same start with different civ/leader. Snaaty?

EDIT: It may be kind of not easy, require someone to edit start save etc. Never mind then.

post the wb save and I'll do it for you.

The point is initial save have to be worldbuilded to make sure we don't have Japan/Hannibal already presented on the map. If any of both is already presented, it can be switched with something/someone else, but this will affect gameplay and make comparison with play from original save a bit pointless imo.

Thanks anyway.

as already pointed out, leaders can be switched by turning the 4000 bc save into a wb save and by simply copy past the leader into the game you want (creat a game with the leader / civ combo you want and overwrite the one from the save you want to play).

-> problem here is that you have to go to the wb to do so it has to be done by someone else to avoid the spoiler problem.

...

as to the starting position´s discussion:

since we all will play the first 3 turnsets (i think 3 it was, no?) with our own saves, we will se which location is best (the voting after save 3 will show)

edit:
yes, 3 turnsets that we all play:

5. we play 3 early turnsets: 1-40, 41-70, 71-90. All of us play these...

Of course you CAN play it live on youtube.

It's not like you said anything about winning the game .

I'm probably going to do something more rational as my next youtube series though.

No need to rush snaaty, I'll probably take a while to do more thought-planning on my own before I get the sets in.

lets get things started. attached is the save from the screenshot 2:D:

rules and timeline:

turnset 1: settle your capital and post a sceen after you did so, so we can see where you settled and compare a bit

timeline turnset 1: up to sa 20th (this saturday)

...

turnset 2: up to t40

timeline turnset 2: 1 week from saturday on

...

turnset 3: up to t70

timeline turnset 3: 2 weeks from saturday on

...

turnset 4: up to t90

timeline turnset 4: 3 weeks from saturday on, ends 10th of september

...

da rulez:
- all must be posted in spoilers.
- you aren´t allowed to play ahead of the timeline. if you absolutely want to do so, at least dont post before the timeline
- you are allowed to play behind the timeline, as long as you dont cheat and dont look at any of the previously posted spoilers, meaning you can play up from t1 to t90 at latest sa 10th of september, in 1go if you feel like
- no reloading, no cheating. off course you can use this game to practice and do whatever you want to, but if you want to participate in this challange, please stick to the rules here

ugh... ...i just had another look at the starting screen and the first big decision already seems to be up... ...im debating whats better, settling 2 from the start, getting wet corn+rice+hillgems (loosing 1 turn + 1 forest) or settling 6 from the start, getting 2 wet corn + wet rice, again loosing 1 turn... ...6 seems to be a bit short on production, but the food... ...THE FOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.... ...have to think about that a bit (settling somewhere near stone seems no option, at least not to me)

bwahahahaa

This was a fun variant.

I actually held my ground until 780AD, where Timbuktu fell after many fierce battles by the combined onslought of the allied hunhorde.

The fun thing was, that a certain Korean Leader placed a small stack on a hill, whereafter he didnt move it for the rest of the game, that is, until all of a sudden, he was dead !!

I reckon SOMEONE didnt like him all that much

I got to COL in 970AD !!

Maan, deitymaintanence is a pure killer, I couldnt get anything done right the way I wanted etc.

I also got an unlucky barbcity spawn in my territory, and by unlucky I mean, it kissed borders with 2 of my cities, could only spawn on 1!!! tile at the map, and sure enough, it did spawn ...... That delayed me quite a bit.

I killed around 150 units, incl barbs, with just a 17 Skirmishers. It was gameover, when my veterans fell, i had 2 vets in Timbuktu and 2 vets in Niani, my forwarded hillcity.

I am really looking forward to follow you proguys beating this, cause my 5, 6 in the end cityempire for sure wasnt up for the challenge.
