Deity Challenge #17 - Persia

Spoiler :

Tried liberty fast settler build again, but not that much success. Have not conquered any city yet.

I knew that khan would attack me if I settle near sinai, but it was just too temtping - 4 lux and sinai and desert forklore?

DoFed with like 4 AIs and asked 3 AIs to DoW around t63 when I saw brown army approaching and they all agreed. Ofc khan attacked me right after that and I was ready to def with 5-6 CBs and 1 immortal.

Will settle 1-2 more (1 near fur, dear, maybe 1 more somewhere as a connecting city) and will go out for domination vic.

Spoiler :

Liberated 2 maritime CS. built 3 more cities. Batcra (orange city) for front, tarsus for good position, and gordium for naval units. Will build 1 more to connect cap and bottom cities (current barb camp position or left to that).

Not sure I have time to complete this game, but it's almost over already. Can finish mongolia with Xbows and Xbows+knights can kill byz or siam (or both). May aim for domination victory and may go for science after getting byz or siam. Have more than enough good cities.

Had to take start with this one before I have again half a dozen unplayed DCs and I wanted to see what others are doing with Darius' versatility. To shake the start a bit I went for Liberty, didn't take DF pantheon, settled 3 cities & currently @~T60 waiting for the GA to kick start my war campaign.
I never thought I'd said this but it's nice to see decent maps & roughly sane AI for a change - I've been renegading on Fallen Enchantress & FE LH beta lately. Deity seems even easier than it did before the side tour but it's also easy to appreciate it as everything sort of works.

Light Cleric, I think you should LP it anyways. I subbed after your China game :D

I thought about it, but I do have foreknowledge of this map because I played it out a bit to see if it was a worthwhile DC. Even though it's been a couple of weeks I am a font of useless knowledge and still remember several things about almost every map I play for more than 30 turns :crazyeye:

Wow, highest FE difficulty makes Deity look easy/sane? God damn. Of course from what little I've seen FE looks like it's more complex than Civ.

meh, start looks nice but it's deity so the following happened.

Spoiler :
so i was gearing for a big push against Delhi with 4 Immortals and 6 Comp bows at t70. i decided when i took representation knowing i had construction 2 turns away and enough gold to upgrade everyone. still had 12 turns of golden age left when at the same time Byz sent her trash units (warriors and archers) to me and India shows up with Elephants and Swords for a simul DoW at t69. I smoked Byz's units no problem but lost all of them to elephants and swords before i ragequit. the turn before she dowed she asked for DoF and a declare against Genghis. but i saw her initial 6 units at my borders and new it was coming from her but didnt know India was ding it too. He even came to me to ask for a DoW against her before that.

ive never had such open space in a deity pangea. felt like it was a large map, not standard. i got my 2nd city south on the silver and a 3rd settler walking as i got double teamed. i got NC t78 before setting the 3rd city.

Well, I'm still very much a novice in FE passed through Normal to Expert levels but the 1st try on Ridiculous I thought I was doing decently when one Kingdom in Civ terms hit xbows on T40 forcing me to take a more in-depth look at the rules & concepts :) and after that there's still Insane lvl waiting. It's a more complex and has some bugs but being still a beta it's not bad at all besides I really needed something else than Civ. Also when we finally got rid of the snow the yard is looking really sad & eagerly demanding some attention before it's Xmas again so even less time to play though a game of Civ now really seems like a quick & easy option compared to FE/FELH beta.

Snow? Poor Finland :D
Its like 15-25 °C in Germany for 2-3 Weeks now and its awesome ;)
Finally some nice weather after this quite long and dark winter. But due to this fact my civ 5 time rinsed through my hands like sand...well i guess i start this one somewhere near in the future^^

It seems I'm slowly morphing this into a FE & gardening thread so I really need to open Civ tomorrow for a change to have something relative to the OP to say. But yeah, snow, not that it has been much of a problem for few weeks now but the last spot left the yard only last weekend - nice pile in the shadows hardened by sub zero night takes ages to melt and this only 30km from the Southern coastline. This is the first week of the year with 15C+ temps so there's finally some summer in the air and moreover cycling/pedestrian tracks are cleaned from sand so the rollerskating season can start which really doesn't increase hours to spend for gaming.
