Set research to 0% waiting for the last Univ next turn and on RP. Adjust citizen to work on food tiles. Also did this trade since I hope JC can research Gunpowder for us.

Get some cash from Monty.

Finish Taj since all AIs have Nat now (trade Nat to JC for Engineer) and we need golden age to hurry up Oxford. Revolt to CS, Mercantilism, and Pacifism for another GS in SP.

Finish RP and we can trade for Constitution from MM if we want.

We can bump Monty to friendly now by +2 extra fair trade so getting MT from Monty should not be a problem. Lincoln is researching PP, Lib + PP <-> Economy still has some edges but need to check carefully. However trading with Lincoln will annoy Monty, so need to get MT from Monty before trading with Licoln .

Route to Rifling is blocked by Gunpowder but self researching it is dubious. I am not sure whether it's better to hold on research for several turns, wait the chance to trade Gunpowder, wait for Oxford, and accumulate some cash for final push on Rifling.

BTW, I have not changed the specialists in the last turn, so it might need some adjustment according to plan next.

No i understand you exactly. But i don't think it is about 3000 hard beakers here as i mentioned in my post. It's about chances which techs the ais will tech and how we go about trading for it. For instance MM researches rp Monty researches miltrad, someone else researches gp. We trade constitution for all adding some spice in some cases.

Or less extreme someone researches gp, now we can trade constitution for gp. If we researched gp and someone researches constitution that someone laughs very hard at our gp. NP we say, we research rp now and then we trade rp and gp for constitution. Noway of course as that deity ai will have gp and sniffs at rp for constitution. Many variables involved here. constitution still seems like a save continuation to me, at least we're sure of the extra beakers, it's a lot of extra beakers as well, more than 100 bpt after oxford.

It may be right to switch now, a bit of a gamble but not too much as indeed constitution will go up in trade in the near future and we'll have the trade fodder, i think constitution and rp will both turn out right now. I'm still convinced that researching constitution when Rusten began his turn was best. I tried gunpowder often in the past, it almost never delivers.

See you have played it in the meantime. I would try to trade for constitution now obviously. Trade for economics also, do civic switch and reseach corporation.

The only case that Constitution is better is that MM is researching RP now and this chance is really low.

The only trading partner for us in this game at the beginning of last set is Mansa and Lincoln and they don't favor Gunpowder, plus Monty is a potential and Rusten told us that he is researching MT. For me, choosing Constitution in Rusten set is not bad, but continue to finish Constitution is a bad.

Very important -- Bump Monty to friendly and get MT from Monty before trading for Economy.

Yes we know that now, it won't always be so. MM isn't hard programmed to go always constitution, although he's sure likely to go that way. Switching rp wasn't that bad and it turned out fine. Going constitution when we didn't have pp was imo still a good move. As you say yourself self researching gp is dubious. Holding off on research is certainly an option as we don't have oxford yet, there's always the risk you get a lucky money break enabling you to research 100% anyway. But it's not so so likely now after 1000 AD so i think 0% waiting for Oxford is best now. But teching Corporation is good too, we won't get that in trade i think (or will MM trade this at less than friendly?).

RP->Rifling without Representation is faster than Constitution + RP->Rifling with Representation, so getting Constitution from Mansa just a garnish.

Sigh, must be my stupidity. We'll get rifling rather soon anyway. Do we have such a production base atm that we can field those cavs instantly? Else being somewhat sooner at rifling doesn't help that much since we still have to get the production chain going. More beakers help with additional techs,upgrade from knights to cavs isn't that expensive although directly producing cavs is indeed cheaper overall.

Cap will produce around 0.8 cossack/turn the rest of the cities should be whipped. Prebuilding knights will have roughly the same effect. I don't understand markets and wealth in this respect. If you want to hit hard soon you should be building barracks, stables and knights now. No hurry for those markets and wealth atm. Moai is fine but can wait until after the war too as we're going to whip that city to pieces too.

We are still ~15 turns to Rifling and the cash is not enough for 100% research. So Yak is building wealth since I'd like to build barrack and stable under OR. Knight->Cossack is not a good choice for upgrade, we don't have enough cash. We probably can only afford 1 upgrade of Knight under 100% cash slider if don't build any cash multipliers. Cata is the best unit for storage. So no need to hurry barrack and stable now. Market will surely help on both cash and happy cap in capital and SP which will grow fast and become large.

Nothing much to add to the discussion guys, except that I am not fond of the upgrade path too... We haven't that much commerce to use anyway so we would be better producing cavs the usual way (hammers + slavery) imo.

The stack doesn't have to be 100% cossacks. I agree that the whipping shouldn't happen before cossacks, but it's np to have some knights mixed in to kill the worst defenders.

Iirc some barracks and all stables still have to be built, np we have time for that. I wonder how certain it is that we'll get mil trad from Monty, we'll need quite a bit of + with him to get him to friendly, are we sure +4 from fair trade'll be enough?
