Deity challengers

@Shyuhe: don't worry, I said it because I think it was not the good move, but it's no big deal ;)

plan for next set:

-> gift education to Brennus so he stops annoying Monty (to prevent the aztecs joining the celt club)
-> Dow NOW!
-> Take Tlatelolco
-> go on with Tenochtitlan, Teotihuacan, Texcoco, in this order
-> Use the whip except in Olmeque, might as well make the most of it.
-> Put some rifles in Olmeque in case Charly is after us (VERY likely)
-> Try to get astro at all costs!!! Free marchet is useless at the moment...

I think Dirk got it right about Monty: leaving him with the useless city we gifted to him would be nicely ironic. Then on to brennus, bashing MM if he gets close to a cultural win, and reaching the stars. This is obviously for next set, but that is my current view of the end game...

Thoughts? (I prolly missed something ;))
Oh yeah, no GP planned for next set... no civic switch either.

Cheers,
Raskolnikov

Sounds good to me. We can win any way we want so might as well stick to the original plan (space).

Charles is after Lincoln who is a landtarget i think. Not many possibilities for trading, Lincoln is wfyabta and Charles is -7. I think we need to switch to FR in the future, not now. I'd make the trade with MM, Rifling for Astro. We're in FM and those routes will contribute significantly, especially in Olmec. No way Monty or Brennus ftm can profit soon as MM is way too advanced.

If we declare on Monty, we'll need astro to maintain routes with AC as well.

So do I trade with MM on the opening turn? I am reluctant to give away rifling to Mansa (who could very well bypass this tech for a long time in a cultural attempt)

I would rather watch a million nukes being dropped please ;P

That's a good point that got me thinking Ras. Ultimately i think that MM will research rifling before his cultural attempt. You often see ais tech tech to industrialism , then shut down. I never saw a civ begin a cultural attempt without rifling. In DMOC's ultra game Ghandi began a cultural attempt without corporation though(so no infantry). Some more advice on this point can't hurt.

Can't you finish and post it before today evening? As this ( challenger botm21) is prolly my biggest screwing up in 2009 (dream peacemonging start, nightmare military actions), I would appreciate we don't talk about it anymore... :lol:

... And here is the save!
Will post a report tomorrow with plenty of shiny pics... to make up for the delays... played 12 turns and we took 4 cities, including the buddhist shrine. Might be worth it to vassalize Monty now if we fear Brennus will have rifling soon.

Rusten is up! ... unless TMIT can take it?

Cheers :salute:

Looks good. I'd take at Calixthuaca and Texcoco before vassalization. These cities are valuable and win = 100% certain after that as we can always tech flight from there and take out the rest. Fair chance that we still can begin on Brennus/AC as taking those 2 cities won't take that long. The alternative is to go for Brennus/AC immediately, that'll probably work too and it may be faster. That attack may stagnate somewhere in the middle though if Brennus should get rifling in which case we're still ok of course but we may be left with a rather scattered assembly of cities, the AC ones culturally pressured.

Well, you SHOULD drop 500 at least...

Now, I better shut up before I hex things and you'll find out soon you have no uranium on your continent :P

Is Brennus still at war with Monty? We need to make sure Monty doesn't vassal to him first. So if we're going to try taking more cities, we may have to bribe Brennus to peace first.

We bribed Brennus off the war at the beginning of the set. I will upload a report tonight :)

Just dropping by to see how you're doing...

Unfortounately, I have been horribly wrong by thinking I could easily participate in the SG during my military service... there are occasionally a few days where I could read up but the problem just is that I lack overview. I can only check the save at weekends, which often is inconvenient (say the round is played on monday...) and only have small pix on my iphone. Also, I have lots of other things on my mind... there's the military education (LOTS of things we had/have to learn), the military life on its own (I think everyone who has ever been in the army is not used to the way things are run there compared to the civil life...) and RL. Most of my sparetime is sucked up by trying to keep up with news from my friends, have at least some contact with them and a girl that may soon end up as my GF ;)

This week is holidays however I will be in France (Alsace) until at least wed (mostly to be back to the october celebrations :beer: ;)) so I'm afraid I won't be able to play then. Afterwards (2 months remain...) I will be in another phase of the military duty here, and from what I've heared so far I'll have a lot more time from then on, including longer weekends (so far I usually had only up to 36 hrs...) so I MIGHT be able to participate from then on... however I don't want to raise possibly false expectations and getting my hopes up simply to be let down again afterwards... we'll see ;)

I'm not surprised, the army is serious business. I skipped army duty in my time, have always been a bit curious what it would have been like since.
