Isa capitulated, but won't give us Military Tradition neither adopt Slavery or Free Market. Few Turns later she demanded chemistry but we ignored her pathetic request

SB captured Uruk from Gilgamesh and we gave Gilga Gunpowder, that hes a little bit more resistent vs SB.

Saladin thinks JC is a cool guy and gets his Vasall (stupid Sal, he still doesn't recognize WE are the cooles guy in the universe :crazyeye:)

Corporation finished, but it was more damage to our economy than a boost. It's the lose of GLH :cry: 4 Turns for Railroad

Mining Inc was founded in Barcelona with +8:hammers: and -6:commerce:

The war goes on, we suffer collateral damage but don't lose even one unit :king:

A GG was found hiding in a city :crazyeye: he joined a warrior :)
SB got "bribed" to make peace with Gilga, because we are planing to annex him in near future

Sal got artillery, but we manage to capture Baghdad and Harappan without great loses.

But we got a Cannon deficit, it sadly slows down our war against JC. We spread Buddhism our state religion at SB, MM and Gilga. (For ApoPal)

I completed Round 7 (1100 AD).

Nothing interesting this turnset. My continent is at peace, on the other a backward SB is kicking even more backward Sumerian ass.

I'm 3 turns away from Oxford. Research is very high and I did a lot of tech trades (met everyone). Diplowise everybody loves me. The downside is Mansa has hoarded too many wonders in my game, and is happily cruising to the culture vic.

Military expansion seems like a good idea, how and who is yet unanswered. I already have Rifling and Military Tradition, Steel is on the way. Is Artillery worth waiting?

I am behind schedule, but wasn't able to play earlier.
Here is my
Round 10:

Techs: Corporations -> Steam Power -> Railroad -> Assembly Line
Switched to Corp to increase trade route yield. Should have done this already last round. :wallbash:

Great persons: got another GA. :shake: So, I used the first one for some culture when Baghdad started to revolt. Next turn the smoke had gone... ;)

Cities: After I got railroad I established mining inc. :D in Medina with the GE that I got a while ago. Medina will become my Wallstreet city. It has the Hindu shrine, a bank and now the Mining Inc HQ. I am still contemplating which city would be the best for Ironworks...

Due to my fear that I would not be able to build Wallstreet asap after getting corporations, I built banks in a number of cities - not all of them were actually suitable for making money. Probably, I should have been a bit more patient. Now, I want to get a forge in Medina first (for faster production). So it will be some time before I can start building Wallstreet there. Workers are now building railroads - first on all mines to increase output, then between cities to connect them.
I am trying to get my cities in shape for better research and quickly producing more advanced units - once I get assembly line. Cities at the water build docking bays and galleons (will be upgraded later). Land cities are focusing on production, some of the newer ones get some research infrastructure.

I am the fastest growing civ right now: first in land, already second in population.

Other civs: In the beginning of this round I took Santiago and Madrid from Isa. Unfortunately, I couldn't wait to also get my units in position for taking over Barcelona - all in one turn -, because JC approached Madrid with a big SOD. So, I thought, it would be better to take Madrid and leave Barcelona. After that I made peace with Isa, got 80 gold, but no tech (stubborn lady!). I didn't want to get her as a vassal as well, but wanted JC to take her. So - according to my plan - I would attack her asap when DOWing JC in a few turns. However, things went into another direction: The next turn (after I had made peace with her) Isa vassalized to Mansa!!! Mansa DOWed JC instantly. JC then took Barcelona and detroyed Isa. Now, we have a nice war going on between Mansa and JC. I will stay at the side line. My power relation to JC is 0.7 and to Mansa only 0.2!!! Uff! JC is moving tons of units up north through my country. Perhaps, I should build some special railroads especially for him to speed that up... ;)
During the last turns, Mansa's score declined and declined and declined. I almost overtook him. ;) (I wonder what Mansa is doing...). His espionage is skyrocketing. Three turns ago, I was able to get a glimpse at his demographics. However, he is producing espionage points faster then I do, so I switched to Gilga, because he will probably be my next target.
Oh, btw: Mansa built the Pentagon, the Broadway and Cristo Redentor during this round. :sad:

Another builder set trying to catch up. I'm still unable to trade techs with Saladin and JC, but SB has picked up his game a little so he could be of assistance. Regardless, after messing up my friendly relations with JC and Saladin I decide my best bet is the diplomatic victory so I beeline Mass Media. Mansa got there already at the end of the turnset, and will most likely beat me to the UN wonder, but that's ok because I can beat him in an election. I just want to make sure I don't go up against Saladin or JC in the elections. If I construct it SB will be picked as he's 2nd in population IIRC and if Mansa gets there first I will be the other candidate as I'm currently #1 in size (and growing).

As expected Mansa Musa constructed the UN before me and in 1615 we get the following vote:



I take it easily:



1645 - first resolution comes up (pick diplomatic victory). At this point I'm running representation together with Izzy in order to get JCs vote and free religion in order to get SBs. They are the most populated AIs, so pleasing them is the #1 priority. Maybe I lose Saladins vote by going free religion, but SB is more important. JC wasn't always in representation though, it took some action in order to guarantee his vote:

Nice! :goodjob: tbh I thought Saladin was going to vote for me too, so it got closer than expected, but I still hadn't grown to my full potential or farm over the towns (because I thought I had it anyway) so if this one would've failed the next one should be in the bag anyway.

Fun game due to always being behind. I played more passive than I like to and usually do, but it was still enjoyable to race after Mansa the entire game.

No, he's been really backwards in my game as well as most others I believe. I haven't been able to trade with him at all.
 
Round 11

This round saw a massive buildup of the Greek army. A lot of drafting in the beginning. Then mass upgrading of riflemen to infantries - a bit more drafting of infantries. And then in 1660 AD came the attack on JC. Took Barcelona, crushing a huge Roman SOD - IIRC, power relation jumped from 1.0 to 1.5. Then Chinook, then Naples. Now, the Greek armies are on their way to take Aretium and Mediolanum. JC is still not in the mood to give me a lot of techs for peace. But after no research at all this round I really need them. So, let's see how long he will endure...

Other Civs: Mansa and SB have both built Apollo. My vassal Sal gives me some headache. Due to his bad relations to Mansa and SB, I get negative modifiers with them...
I wonder when Mansa will launch... But he has something "on his hands right now"... Will that be Sal or Gilga? Probably Gilga as they have even worse relations...

And here is the tech situation. It has worsened considerably!

Plans: Conquer the Romans as quickly as possible. Then sail over to Gilga and attack asap. Galleons (to be upgraded as soon as I get Combustion from JC) are already standing by. Due to JC's sea blockade of Santiago, however, they are still stuck - in Santiago and Mansa's city up north (I don't dare to leave the cities with JC's destroyers running around)...

Researched Scientific Method (partially) traded it & Democracy with Sal for Railroad. Then Corporation and Assembly line.
Had a golden age, switched to US, from Caste to Emancipation (only at the end of the GA to generate GPP in Athen, Medina, Argos and Corinth), OR, I kept Mercantilism, have no open borders with MM and Gigla and SB also have Merc. So I rather take the free spec.
Adopted Budhism as state religion (perhaps I can utilise the AP to achieve a dilpo win). Probably my only path to victory (just look at the tech situation at the end of the post)

The war against Issabella goes very well. In the first 2 turns I take 3 of her cities. 7 Turns after the start of the war I have conquered her mainland, she has only one good city left - Toledo which I am going to take the next 2-3 turn.

Fortunately her SOD was busy and successfull in taking Antium... This reliefs Damascus from the Roman cultural pressure, very nice. To make sure it keeps that way I bribe JC to make peace with Izzy.

Madrid, my future unit production center 5 settled GG and the HE and WE to come, that means 17 XP or 4 free promotions :p ( I can build the HE here since I let Izzy conquer Sparta, so that the HE got destroyed.)

Made peace with Izzy against Astronomy. No capitulation, I plan to wipe her out after taking out JC. Otherwise I get unhappines in my Spanish cities and annoying pop-ups every second turn.

War preparations:
JC has Riflemen, Grens and canons, so I build 4 machine guns for each of my two SoD (the other is located in Toledo) still have enough riflemen and canons. Their immunity against colleteral damage and bonus against gundpowder units make them the perfect choice to guard my SoDs until I am close enough to take out JC's cities.
My SODs aren't huge but I spied a bit on JC's army and he has not many units left.

Next steps:
Conquer JC and then work out a winning strategy (I hope there is one ). I guess Diplomatic or domination victory are my only choices.

JC attacks with 2 Grenadiers Cumae and a general dies :mad: why the hell?

At the east front another stack is ready to attack JC, its about time :D they are heading towards Arretium.
The west front goes strait towards rome, a ironclad scouted rome and only 7 units are defending it. There will be a big pary :goodjob:

We catched up Mansa in the scoretable :king:

We captured Arretium and Rome was despite less defenders a bloody battle. We lost 3 Cannons, 1 Infantary and 10 Rifleman :cry: but:

I think the tech situation in your game looks pretty good. :goodjob: Well, except for MM of course. Sal is no issue anymore and everybody else (except MM) is behind you techwise. So, a domination victory seems to be achievable.
In my game SB is so advanced (even though he doesn't have assembly line yet) that I fear he will have tanks before I can launch a real attack on him.

The war against JC goes well. My SoD proceed without much resistance towards JCs core cities and are currenty laying siege on Rome and Ravenna.

Currently it is at 43,9%. When adding Gilgas land I will come close to 64% cant add all of it due to the cultural pressure of SB's cities. But attacking SB will be pretty bloody (for me) since he is MM's vasall and...

But so am I. But bringing Gilga on my side may work by spreading Budhism in his land and make him convert. That would bring +3-6 in relations (negate the -2 modifier and add a +1-4 modifiert (not sure here)). That may be enough to make Gilga vote for me (as soon as UN are built, or in an AP vote)

..as a fall-back option I will concentrate on catching up techwise, and building some key wonders. Focusing on computers and building the internet would be perfect, due to Mining Inc I have some formidable production centres.
Right now I am rushing for radio to get the Cristo Redentor (my absolute favorite late game wonder) MM does not have it yet.

I think winning this game is possible but right now the diplomatic situation does not allow domination. Since taking 1-2 cities of SB is prerequisite and that will draw MM's mighty army in.
Next steps will be spreading Budhism in Sumeria to prepare for some kind of diplomatic victory which I think is more likely right now. And late game wars are so time consuming

Both of your games look quite strong. Might get intersting especially in your game Flo, how you can get a victory with SB beeing Mansa´s vassal (at the time we landed on Mansa´s conti, he already was running around with mechinfs (we had arti, cannon, rifles, infs and MG´s)):crazyeye:
 
Hi Snaaty, nice to see you back and thanks for your encouragement! :) I will try to follow your path in conquering the world bit by bit... However, it seems as if the civs in my games are all a little bit more advanced - at least Gilga and SB. :(
