Deity of Random - Try 1

@ Team

Sorry I wont find time for Civ until the next weekend :( so I am out too

I can volunteer to finish the whole thing off, but I think that's a bit greedy. Unless of course no one wants to do another turn.

On the contrary; it would be great. :) I can't see myself playing any turns here. Microing alone is annoying but my computer has trouble now too--it kept freezing when I took a look around upon inspecting the save.

I can only second this:goodjob:

Bring it home for us, I (and most surely all players and readers here) would really really appreciate you finishing this game, after all the efford we invested into it:)

What would be huge (but only if you feel it´s worth the work and time for you) would be playing it out in several sessions of 10 - 15 turns or so and commenting it with LOTS of pictures how you massacre Peri:D

We all count on you now, Obsolete;)

Alright, things did not go so good vs Perc. I mistimed an important move and really cost us an arm and a leg. And then another misclick(posisbly bug) cost us to lose our super medic and a bunch of other highly promoted units, which got left out in the open and sank to the bottom of the sea. And then, we were also not even finished researching radio, while Perc already was multiple tech teirs above us and building stealth bombers IIRC. The war was also crippling us putting our econ into the red again. Also, Perc got the jump on us and launched much earlier than I anticipated so.....

So... we really got off to a bad start vs perc, but..... that was the bad news. And now.. for the worse news (just kidding), let's get to the good news shall we?

Good news is I ended up nerfing Perc pretty damn good despite the set-backs, due to the AI's utter stupidity in warfare. After I wiped him off his continent, I agreed to peace and got some gold out of the deal. I wanted to have some time to let my units COOL-DOWN and rebuild up forces for the final hit/blow. For a while I couldn't decided to hit Zara or Perc again next, but I think the way it's going right now I should hit perc again and take his other islands.

Anyhow, there were nukes exchanged on both sides, and we got nailed by a couple, but I hit him with over 10x as many, so we did good on that exchange :P Actually, I think I stopped after our diplo hit is -40 for (the nukes alone). Sadly, Zara now is furious with us for YOU NUKED OUR FRIEND, which seems to have a bottomless negative cap. I'll have to watch out now on the other flank.

I have had the same game open in the other window for over 48 hours now and surprised it hasn't crashed. It is 1903 AD right now, and I need about 8% more land mass to get our conquest/domination. But it's still taking a LONG time per round, so bear with me guys.

Hmm, I'm on year 1915 or something.. I'm going to call it a session break cause it's 5 am now, and besides, I ran into a critical bug. I captured Zara's capital (decided to go after him instead), but I didn't want to raz it because I felt too guilty as it had a good wonder inside. So instead I decided to trade it. But it seems this does not result in the space-ship being scrapped?

I destroyed Perc's ship and forced him to start over again, so I don't get what's going on. But it does seem we have a few strange things happening, which I think are due to our vassals, not sure. I guess I'll re-do my turn over and just officially razz that city, and see if THAT fixes it. Maybe I just don't understand the current game mechanics enough. Anyone else have any clue as to what is going on? I'll just redo the 1514 turn probably after the weekend.

As for the images, I lost the old host I had (stupid provider screwed up everything). But I know I can attach a few images on my official civ account, however that is limited so, I'll either have to limit my image shots, or find an alternative. Is there a way to BEEF up the maximum image total that CivFanatics gives you?

I guess before I start playing again I will start doing some of the write-up.

Alright, even though I am very busy this weekend, I was hoping to get a few shots up and descriptions. However my screenshot directory has some past images in it (which isnt a big deal), but the problem now is I"m using vista, and for the LIFE of me I can't god damn figure out how to sort images according to the date/time taken lol. I see a bunch of toggles for all kinds of SORTING, but not one simple thing works for even the basics. I don't know if it's a problem with Vista or just my newbiness to vista. I had no problems doing 100 & 1 things with files under a Unix prompt, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to work this new Windows for Dummies OS.

I tried a bunch of different sorting options and still can't get it right. Anyone know what I am talking about?

no :p

why would we run vista? :p

that being said, should be view -> details -> click on "modified" tab of the main window in windows explorer(provided that still exists in vista; that's how it is under 2k...)

I finally found the problem. Stupid vista gives you date taken by default, but it needs to be date created. So insane but that's what you get with MS products.

For an update, I did complete the game last night while chatting away to my girlfriend. I also did a bit of the writeup already, but will add in a few details I missed and post it as soon as I can on monday. It is almost 1 am here (just got back from a meeting), and I am booked out from 6 am tomorrow till 1 am again or so. So monday it will be...

I don't want to give away too many details yet, but I did get backstabbed by someone and hit on both sides by Perc & Zara/Napoleon at the end.

We finished researching rocketry (to unlock nukes), and immediately we stole flight from Perc to open up our precious airports for later.

Also, I traded Fission to Napoleon for Fascism & 40 g.

Special Note:
Results came in from the U.N. Resolution #427. Both us, Hannibal, and Ramesses II defied resolution for Free Religion. 672 votes were needed, and not enough would have been generated anyhow, so it seems THIS is why I did not get my -5 happy faces penalty. I had been worried about that and thought it was a bug, but I guess not. Just Firaxis'es poor documentation on how the mechanics of the penalties work. So in essence, we got to defy that vote for free.

2n'd Note:
Despite capturing the A.P. vassaling its original owner, and getting the original owner to swap to our religion, and still run our religion and passing a few turns, we seem to still have been ripped off from getting our bonuses from the A.P. I will consider this a bug possibly due to having vassaled Egypt. But it is possible that there is something about the mechanics that Firaxis just failed to document again which is why it didn't quite work as expected. But WHAT a waste. I shouldn't have bothered with all those temples during our micromanagement turns.

We declare war on SB.

As you can see, there were more turns that passed than I was planning on. I was worried first of getting hit by a big unhappiness penalty. So I wanted to wait first to see how bad it would affect our economy. And after that I decided, well why don't I now try to upgrade a few more cannons to artillery.

Anyhow, I decided to land onto that hill first for a 25% def bonus while bombarding the walls. Unfortunately I misclicked trying to land artillery on the hill (lag issue), and accidently threw an artillery right into the city during my unload. Whoopsies.

We capture it, and I think we had a few unlucky rolls losing a few 3-1 favourites but with SB sitting on fortified units that come with boosted defending promotions, you get an increased chance of that happening, DESPITE I bombarded his walls down to 0 first and then hit him with our fleets of airships. Yup, those airships still have some offensive use.

And now, for the real booty.

We captured Poverty Point. I found this city important because it is a strategic canal city, and can help in attacking both Perc and Zara later from the sea.

Also, UN resolution for Nuclear Weapons. I had to Defy this one, and this time we got our 5 unhappiness penalty. Sorry, but there was nothing else I could do.

Note: I had a few units from SB drop into one of our single city islands. But no worries, I drafted and made sure we had enough to hold it.

Also, I think I went around trying to get our vassals to switch to anything to minimize our emancipation penalties.

We are fighting off some unhappiness issues.

We have 5 unhappy from defying a UN vote. Then we still have emancipation to fight off, then the war weariness, and then the yearning to join mother lands and overpopulation, etc. In other words, I'll be happy to end this war soon. Oh yeah, and I am having unhappiness for all the oppression I"m dishing out from the whip, Ahah! Not to mention drafting! But at least the whip trades off the mad people from over-crowding.

Oh yeah, and since SB still won't TALK TO US, I decided to take his third city from the continent. TAKE THAT! The ironic thing is despite he has infantry, I actually took it with spare riflemen. Ahah!

Woohoo. War is over, I was getting a tad worried here, because it was starting to get costly. I also ended up giving him biology just so he could adapt slavery on us and that is one less emancipation issue.

Unfortunately, he was almost useless for the whole game, as he never even had a single unit defending his capital. Ughh. But at least we got the +1 happy bonus for owning him.

And some bad news... I accidentally completed the manhattan project. Crap... I was planning to delay it on the last turn before creation (which I did), but I didn't take it off the que, and eventually when the other item was completed, it then completed the project before I was ready. Damnit!
