Deity please! #2

OK, since no one want to criticize my saves, I will comment yours. :D

@lymond
Spoiler :

Neapolis is a true super-city. I'd consider making it capital. Since you are in CS, why not drop couple workshops there? It could use more production. You will be able to trade for guilds soon and some 1F/3H tiles will not hurt there. Are you going to keep these bananas cottaged btw?
Moving capital to Neapolis will put Rome on job it's best for: GP farm (with bananas it will run 8 specs and keep grow). GJ with getting TGL there (I missed it :(, postponed CS/Pacifism and currently in tech hole).

Good chance of getting GS in Rome in 4 turns. If you will not trade for optics he will bulb you 80% of Printing Press. so you can get RP from lib or get more GS and try Lib-Steel.

Looks like you will need some war soon to stay on track. I would go for Zara, his culture is annoying, but he is kind of advanced in your game.

Gandhi usually is a best trade partner and his land is not so good and is a bit far from your core.

Definitely Ravenna could be settled with fish in BFC, but Iron is a priority, true.

Jute, very nice city even without fish. 6 food surplus without lighthouse - irrigating it is a last priority IMO.

Mylene is in later stage of game then I am, so did not open her save yet.

@Dhoom Nice stories about game, as usual. But I don't see your save. Explain yourself, young man! ;)

Moar brave souls for interesting map are needed!

Lurking here and studying the screen shots and saves. Something tells me all of you have a totally awesome mindset in some fantastic alternate dimension that I have yet to set my feet on.

Sometimes I think farming gold in an online RPG like Lineage 2 is easier than attempting to win at Deity. ^_^

@Gwaja Well, best way learn play deity - play deity ;) Look at ABZ videos, games by Kossin, Grashopa, Rustem, they make deity look easy!

Until the end: (first deity win!!)

Spoiler :

After lib @375 I went economics and then rifling. A second dogpile on monte started right about the time I was building my army, so I rushbought a few cavs with my GM from econ to get in on the action before he got capped. I declare on him ~950AD and take 4 cities and then cap him. At that point I have a small window of opportunity before everyone has rifling, so I declare on churchill immediately and take 3 cities to cap him (he had 6 cities).

Next up I go for lincoln. There was a little delay this time between attacks bc I had begged off everyone during the churchill war to prevent backstabs (churchill had steam power on everyone and was friendly with all as well.) Before the lincoln war I bribe zara to attack darius with rifling and physics, again to keep him off me. This slowed down the endgame a lot but was probably safer.

I took a few extra cities beyond the necessary for lincoln, bc he had just built SoL and also the kremlin :):)

Next up, Ghandi, who was way far away from rifling when I started, but gets it in the middle of the war. Bloody battles ensue, but fortunately by now I have physics for airships to wear down the rifles. I get him not too long later:

At this point, Zara has had infantry for a few turns :crazyeye: so I beeline bombers.

Tech at this point has gone (since rifling) phys>bio>communism (revolt sp)>...>radio>...>flight with a few techs traded off of vassals.

I attack him with like 70 cavalry and 25 bombers on 1515AD iirc, but the bastard won't capitulate ever. I guess you can't cap if you have a vassal? (he had vassaled darius during the bribed war) I got him way below 50% of darius' land tho.

Eventually tanks start showing up and the war machine does its work for domination.

Somehow I only have a screenshot of the score:

I got the domination on 1605AD.

I attached a few saves if anyone is interested; the autosave is right before the end (playing really sloppy by then :p). Looking at other games, it seems like the RNG really liked me this game. No monster AI capitulation team, no rifles for anyone else until ~1100AD, etc.

Like I said before, suuper fun game :goodjob:

Congratulations Awilder! :goodjob:
Would be nice if you could share your start-middle ages moves.
Well done!

@awilder Ups, missed that somehow.

@Mylene Um ok, might be not easy since no brokering actually force you to compete with deity AIs. Somewhat luck dependent - if AI follow your tech path - you are in trouble. May give it a try.

Involves more planning, but it also removes the pain of vassals or small Civs being as advanced as you.
This game i had to fight Rifles on Monty and Zara, and just cuz both vassaled to Church, i find that annoying ;)
That is also a luck factor and can make the game much harder, for others they might not vassal and you can fight macemen instead.

OK, I rolled a few starts and look what I got

Not 1, not 2, but 3 (three) plain hill golds in BFC!!!
:crazyeye:
Sufficient food and one of everyone's favorites leaders.

And it's not isolated btw.

Tech brokering is ON, sorry Milene ;).
Should I start "deity please #3" with it, or does it look too cheap?

Um, I can see 3 forests in BFC, not sure about south tiles.
6 FPs = -2 health already, so chopping more then 1 forest is arguable. You can't get everything I guess. ;)

Tech brokering is ON, sorry Milene ;).
Isn't it possible to use the same map but to change the settings if you save the map as a World Builder file then load it as a scenario where you switch the settings, then save the game and provide us with that saved game?

To be honest, I have never tried to do so, but that's how I understood that other people have done so.

If an AI ends up with the multi-Gold starting location upon loading the scenario, all the better the challenge, I say! ;)

So, if we don't find it too cheap, I will start a "deity please #3". I could change civilization, or switch start location with AI, but what for? I can just roll another, less lucky start. I would keep this one though. Hopefully it will drag more players in and hopefully some top level player will show us 200BC lib-steel or something. :)

Another Deity attempt. I set a new personal record in this one.
Spoiler :
For defeat!:p

At the end of turn 17 this barb razed my capital (screenshot didn't work for some reson). Awesome!
