I absolutely love statistics in all strategy games - comparing empires by their economy, military etc. - and seeing how Info Addict, providing that info in Civ5 was one of the most popular mods ever, I think I am not the only one.

I really hope civ6 will provide deeper statistical data than civ5 which only contained extremely simplified screen basically displaying only your empire's data, top empire and bottom empire.

What do you think?

We can only hope, InfoAddict is one of the best mods out there for Civ 5 simply because it makes usual info easier to access and accessible at all, the best thing would be an improved system in the base game but who knows Firaxis is notorious for taking a step back.

Ed/Dennis, one of them did mention more information being shown during diplomacy.

Firaxis is notorious for taking a step back.

Well this time they announced all cool game systems of previous game won't be thrown out (as in civ4->5 transition) but remain (religion, ideology, culture-tourism etc) so maybe there's hope...

I interpreted that as 'more diplomatic information being shown' such as relation modifiers, links to other empires diplo etc, not as 'more general data'... Yeah I am a pessimist ;)

But we don't know how they will implement all those system, god forbid religion is like in 4 cause that sure would be a cruel joke.

Of course I am being extremely pessimistic and it probably won't be like that at all but Beyond Earth gave me some serious shell shock with how much was stripped away, dumbed down with new problems sprinkled on top...

A data system like Info Addict would make me appreciate the game so much more and reignite my hope in Firaxis.

Naah, I think they did say that most systems are back, so I assume Foundign Religions is going to be the same plus tweaked, among the other BNW/G&K systems.

I also think that the fact taht that information was left out was really bad in Civ 5 since they existed in Civ 4 and 3 especially (like the relation web, Top 5 Cities etc)

I' dassume they knew it's missing and add it in.

Remember that Beyond Earth was made by "spin off team" of freshmen while "main team" of Ed Beach, responsible for civ5, was in the meantime uhm quietly focused on development of civ6.
^^^That's what I'm saying to myself to not lose faith in Firaxis after my extreme disappointment of BE

Moderator Action: Let's focus on speculation and desired features for Civ VI in regards to Demographics & Statistics instead of Beyond Earth.

One of my favorite features of all the strategical games I've played with military aspects, was the ability to review total kills for and against my empire in the Age of Empire series. I think there was even some stat for friendly fire or something along those lines on that screen.

I don't think they will have that level of statistics, but I hope they will at least have a civ IV level of Info availability.

I thought I was the only one who loved that. I love seeing what my population is in real numbers not 2 city population points and 45 hexes. I want to see 300,000 people living in x square miles maybe even the value of your currency.

Then again I'm a bit of a nerd lol

I prefer more detailed information. I like the occasionally sent lists that are rank empires such as "people who like shiny things most". I refer to the demographics screen often. I agree with you, Inspector Javert, that detailed accurate reporting is more helpful.

There are a few stats, one I think might be labeled "appreciation" or something, that I have never deciphered exactly what is being measured. I believe it is related to happiness, but not exactly sure if it is excess happiness averaged per city, or gross happiness per capita, or something else.

Some of the population figures include factors or ratios for which I don't remember seeing the conversion details. For example, I can add up the "population" of all the people in terms of Citizens per city. But game sometimes reports that information in different units, such as 20,000 people. I would like to see an exact breakdown of how many thousand population each City citizen equates to. Same thing with land area, which is reported in acres on some screens. I would like to know how many acres each tile is worth.

I think being a "nerd" is a requirement for those beyond casual players of the Civilization series. At least I know I am one as well. Lol

Beyond a certain age/tech or when the UN is built, players should be able to see all the demographics for all other players. But I think it is nice, in earlier eras, to be in the dark with a lot of "known unknowns" regarding other civs.

Yes. I think Civ 3 or 4 had that as well.

I hope the new game counts unit losses of type of unit. I missed that in civ 5.

I love statistics, and I hated civ5 for going in the oposite direction.
I would say, sadly they will do the same with civ6 and stay away from having lots of statistics
