Department of Homeland Security: NYC has "No Icons, No Monuments Worth Protecting"

the article said:
The formula did not consider as landmarks or icons: The Empire State Building, The United Nations, The Statue of Liberty and others found on several terror target hit lists.
Do various terror organizations publish weekly target charts or what hit lists are they talking about?

I bet the United Nations get voted off in the first week when its run in the US.

I thought it would be a least number 2
Number one will be the White house :D

 That is insane, I cannot imagine how any American agency can forget everything about NYC. It would cripple the USA if it was attacked, what are they thinking?

They should have just said, "Sorry but we're cutting your budget" instead of that bogus line about no icons. How about being the most populous city in the US, and the fact that Manhattan is an island, which means bridges, which means they need protection.

They decided the same think about Las Vegas and cut the funds here too. They misclassified many Vegas buildings and ranked Orlando and New Orleans as more of a threat than Vegas.

A group of the 9/11 hijackers met here and stayed at the MGM Grand just before flying their planes into history. If you want to blow up the heart of Western decadence could you think of a better place to do it?

Link.

You would think that with something this important that they could have at least gotten the raw data correct. Don't they have internet connections?

Nah, that place is a craphole too. Really, I hope the terrorists blow up Canton...that place is a dump

My apartment should be worth protecting! It is surely an icon of decadence

So much for the whole "we will fund based on threats." New York City and DC got cuts of around 40%. Who is looking to fight this war on terror now?

I mean, NYC could probably fund everything on its own if it weren't for the fact that it already that it pays out a lot more in taxes than it gets back from the feds. I'm rather tired of New York still being a rallying point when it comes to scoring political victories but is forgotten when the actual bills and budgets are passed.

Clearly only Red cities get anti-terrorism funding. They wouldn't bother attacking their Blue allies in New York or DC, now would they?

I noticed this too. Heavily democratic areas such as D.C. and New York City got their funding slashed, but Georgia as a state got their funding increased.

Save them peaches baby.

BTW Peaches grown right here in Southern Illinois are much better than Georgia Peaches. Hands down.
