Log for Turn 137
Diplomacy
nada

City Builds:
Dunderhead LB -> LB
Jesterton LB -> LB
SKWTD Pike -> Pike
Gilfach market -> LB
Cretinograph Lib -> Market

Begin the turn with 307g, +220gpt, Chems in 10T.

F-checks and such:
Salt is located in the Jungle, on a mountain, near Wilde Side.

Worker stuff:

City Management:
We’re going to need the Happy Gas due to WW, so bump lux slider up to 10%
Sci slider to 50%, Chems in 6T, +33gpt. I believe this is the last turn of our GA, but I might as well pump all the sci into it as we can.
Shave a turn off the court in Knucklehead by shortrushing LB
Switch WildeSide to walls.
Shave off 3T on the ‘duct in Devil’s Soul by shortrushing LB

Unit Stuff:
A.R.S.E. Igor’s Hope moves NW, W, landing spot is clear
Move him 1 more tile W and I see that the town is empty. So, I empty my load
All 5 galleys dump troops NE of Grenadapolis
Bugsy’s Blade moves NW and pillages road
I move the remnants of our SoD E (NW of Spite) to the grass. Eliminates bombardment and chance to hit by Immortals. Move a pike to cover in case of Horseman. Rotate a pike up from Auda City as nothing can hit that town next turn.
I ship-chain 2 more LB’s over to the stack, so now it’s 3 pikes and 9 LB’s. Hope it fairs better :)

Turn after (138):

Builds due next turn:
Ignoramous -> Pike
Polecat -> LB
Idiote -> Pike
Crackhead -> Lib
Village D’Idiote -> granary
Devil’s Soul -> ‘duct

End the turn with 135g, +34gpt, Chems in 6T

Note: It is possible to research Chivalry in 4T (costs about 840g, which indicates only 1 Civ has it) or Education in 4T (costs about 1145g, which indicates that only 1 Civ has it).

Crap, forgot to take a picture :sad:

No need for a picture. Another empty town is going to have more TNTers running madly through the streets.

Excellent execution.

Indeed, well done. Looks like Strider has forgotten all of Bugsy's "Art of Warcraft".

it looks like the saltpeter resides on the non-luxury mountains in the jungle. MIA already has theirs under their borders but we don't have ours yet. No one has settled the one on the other continent's west coast yet but the east coast is already claimed it appears (although it can't be confirmed yet)

Grabbing a second source of saltpeter might be a very nice thing to have... resource denial.

Let's think about how we can do that.

well there is 4 of them and I doubt that TNT will make it to see the resource so we'd have to get 3 of them to deny anyone.

Yeah. :devil: :mischief: That's right.

@G-man: Diplomacy='nada'? I hate to be a party pooper... but IIRC, under the terms of the "Simpson Accord" (the treaty with Doughnut) we're obligated to give Gunpowder to Doughnut.

Would someone please confirm or deny that?

that is correct scout, but if there is some reason that D'nut wants to delay the guns then it's ok I think.

But does this preclude sucking up all the saltpeter resources?

It might be tough considering there are two sources in the jungles on each continent. Donut is pile driving their MW's through TNT's saltpeter area as we speak. It would be really tough getting settlers into that area. MIA's saltpeter is within their borders.

@Grahamiam--Spoke with Robi D of Donut last night and MIA is currently researching gunpowder (they said 10 turns) and would like to trade it to Donut. MIA is trying to convince Donut that with MIA's science trait and Donut's commercial trait that they will research while Donut gives cash in return to MIA. :crazyeye:
In the meantime, Robi is trying to think of a way to make it look like they backstabbed us by getting powder from us and getting a upper level tech (education?) in return. I pm'd Robi to find out whether we should send or not. If we do they don't have to accept.

They may not accept 'powder and this would be the reason why.

here is the locations of all of the visible saltpeter.

I took a look at the screenshots. It's not gonna happen.

Very interesting. On the face of it it would appear that we have a nice, stand-up relationship w/ Donut.

I keep batting around how MIA would/could/should interpret D'nut getting powder from us but it all seems jibberish. I need to take another long look at the history.

Them getting powder from MIA and then making it seem like we've been stiffed seems like a good idea.

If MIA is 10 turns from 'powder then how far are we ahead in the tech game?
What's D'nut researching?
How many turns of peace do we have left w/ MIA?

guns should cost them 1234g 1028g with us knowing it, so they are doing about 123 103 bpt if they are telling the truth. However, I'm not sure if civ will show our progress to MIA last turn since we play after them. If it doesn't, then they will see thier cost drop from 1440g to 1234g 1200g to 1028g

btw, to me, sci civ + com civ teaming up is a very valid argument

edit: forgot that this was a small map

No disagreement however anything Donut does is shared.

So if they get MIA to research and give cash we get MIA's research. The problem is MIA has switched gears and started on the lower path. It would be nice if Donut could convince MIA that it's best for Donut to research the top half so MIA can get their pre-build for Newtons (needed for a GA).

The question is how would we like Donuts to proceed? On the one hand, we can force MIA all the way through the research cycle or alternatively we can likely get education in return. The key thing to take home here is Donut is thinking of the best way to manipulate the situation while expressing concern over the (supposed) turmoil at K.I.S.S. (which MIA is inquiring about with Donut)

Now you guys are getting way over my head. I'm just going to keep planning on war with TNT then war with MIA. I just ask that you get us to Mil Tradition as soon as possible.

How long till we get the saltpeter hooked up? We may want to build some more pikes for upgrading to muskets.

Maybe they haven't lost their sense of humor.
