[Development Thread]WW1 Mod: Blood and Iron

The Russian WW1 cityset is almost done. I've sent it to winddelay for mastering. ;)

Yea, I'm curious how it's gonna look too.

Smitty, I've got an improved modcomp coming up soon ;)

What's it got in it?

Route Restricter is an expanded version of MechRoute, except I took your advice and gave the user functionality to decide which routes it wanted to restrict a units movement to.

This way you could have some units require a road to move (carriage?), some units require a railroad to move (rail gun?), and others require either (artillery?). Plus, if you add a new route (like Trench), you can make some units able to move only within the trenches ;)

Anyway, it doesn't make use of the <bMechanized> tag which might be used for combat formations as Dale pointed out, it uses a newly created pair of tags, <PassableRouteNeededs> so you can set each unit to your desire. :)

I would HIGHLY suggest holding off doing any SDK / Python work till a near future date. ;)

But great changes for the route limiter. :)

Thanks Dale.

But that means 1 of two things (or both of them):

1) The next patch will be released pretty soon.
2) My changes will already be made by Firaxis.

I hope it's number 1 and not number 2,

Speaking of which, is someone going to do an Erich Ludendorff leaderhead for this mod? He was basically running Germany himself at the end of the war anyway....

Yeah, that guy was everywhere - except in the mod. Well, he'll be a great general available to Germany, but there are no leaderheads in the mod. All countries just have the crest and flag instead - it makes things easier, and saves a lot of time in creating custom leaderheads.

Ok guys, you've got plenty of units, even one's I'm sure Ludendorff didn't even know he had.

If you're talking about the Lohner Type L, he didn't. It's an Austrian design. It was copied by the Italians, so they'll get a version too.

The newest addition to the skies, the German Rumpler Taube:

I did a quick count, and that's the 24th aircraft of the 42 required. From the ones left over, only 6 are needed for the first release. Soon I'll start pumping out some land units and ships. After all these aircraft, I'm actually getting tired of making them, if you can believe that!

Beuatiful! :) Very nice unit and interesting design :)

first, great work!
second, i know exactly what you mean ;) !!!

I can believe it... one Dreadnought and you were tired of making ships! ;)

I did the aircraft because I felt I could release the mod with a couple of ship classes representing all of the rest, wereas with aircraft it would be better if 90% (if not all) of the aircraft were done.

It takes me about 2-4 hrs to finish an aircraft, depending on its completixty. It takes about 6-8 hrs to finish a warship. I'm looking forward to getting some of the ships done, that's probably where I'll focus next (except for the artillery units, land units are well in hand already). The French Cruiser Gloire is about 80% modeled already. Maybe I'll finish her this weekend.
