Pre-Turn
research ia on ecology, ok
Texcoco is on a gfactory when it makes hardly any shields, useless IMHO

1. 1912AD
take out tabriz losing that cat while 2 Cavs retreated :)
while trying to look at tech trade get CTD

2. 1914AD
Golden iron starts on 1st tank in 6 turns, we need ironworks there

3. 1916AD
burn Old Sarai defeating 3 units losing a cat
since we make some money, adopt Universal suffrage for added production as well

4. 1918AD
approach Ning hsia, but it is heavily defended
however WW is high

IT we get ecology, go for flight, planes work wonders in Civ4
and Karakorum comes out of revolt for the first time

5. 1920AD
attack Ning Hsia, lose 3 cavs but raze town for 110gold
Mongols refuse to make peace, rush transport in Karakorum to be able to ship over units
next turn
Caesar is willing to give us plastics for ecology, that's a nice trade
get artillery for it from Cyrus, no doubt he would have traded with Caesar

6. 1922AD
our capital can now make a tank in 3 turns due to factory/coal plant

7. 1924AD
land 4 units next to Samarqand

8. 1926AD
raze town, Mongols are OCC

9. 1928AD
advance towards last Mongol city

10. 1930AD
we need to ship over some more units to be able to take it out
also, there are already 2 tanks ready on our Island, but since I didn't know where we
would fight next, I did not move them

Inherited Turn:
Genghis is on the ropes. Unless somebody feels like backstabbing us again, he should go down in the next few turns.
One citizen in Golden Iron is on hunger strike because of war weariness.
4 citizen in Calixtlahuaca follow his example. We need to get rid of the ww as soon as possible.
3 people are hunger striking in Xochicalco. Actually, most cities have at least one unhappy guy.

*enter*

(1) 1931 AD:
I send some deer to Freddy and he gives us a few hit singles.
Genghis wants peace.. hmm let's see...no.
Oh we get a great engineer! He could get us 1300 beakers closer to Facism, but that would be only 4 turns away anyway. Decide to join him into
Teotihuacan and oush that cities production to a nice 60 shields/turns.

(2) 1932 AD:
Theatre finishes in Karakorum. I start a temple for further culture.
Genghis' last city is going to be costly to take without artillery.
As it stands our Infantry would face almost even odds, and that is our only attacker with a chance of winning.
I decide to wait for reinforcements. Getting this war over with is one thing, burning experienced units another.

(3) 1933 AD:
We learn flight. In light of future war weariniss issues, i go for Facism next. 3 turns away. Texoco builds a worker. Hmm going to be hard to find him something to work on. Start an artillery.

(4) 1934 AD:
Mao wants us to go state property. Maybe another time mate. Beshalbik finishes a libary and i start a temple.
The Inca are furious with us.Looks like they don't like Hindus. Oh well.

(5) 1935 AD:
Some artillery finishes and i order more from our capital. Atzcapotzalco starts on a coal plant.
Karakorum finishes its temple and i order a Granary.

(6) 1936 AD
We learn Facism. Go for the fridge in order to make our ships faster. I'm losing my pactience with our long supply lines. :(
Tlaxala starts building a factory.

(7) 1937 AD:
Louis has a Galleon loaded with Infantry next to our Mongolian holdings. Hmmm...

(8) 1938 AD:
I have mercy with Technotitlan and let it build a university
Karakorum starts another temple. We discover another source of alluminium next to golden Iron. Boy, what's up with that city? :D

(9) 1939 AD:
Beshalbik finishes a temple and i order another one.
Northern post builds its observatory and i order artillery.

(10) 1940 BC:
I start research on Rocketry. Gunships here we come :)
Teotihuacan completes West Point, but i hesitate to order more units. We are almost broke and already over the support limit.
Start a coal plant for even faster production instead.
Tlateloco also start a coal plant.
Aha so that's where Louis was heading! He founds a city in former Mongolia. With a little luck, it might flip ;)

That's it. Reinforcements have arrived now and mongolia should fall real soon now.
---------->The Save<----------

I didn't expect to spend so much time with reinforcing, but what can you do? This way we hopefully will knock the Khan out without (m)any casulties.

Well...after Till's Booooorrrriiinnng turnset (as he titled it) it was time for some excitement, and exciting it was... here's my turnlog:

Turn 0 – 1940 AD:
As we need some cash (we have 34 in treasure and losing 32/turn @80% science) I check if we can make some deals… I sell Fascism to Huayna Capac for 480 Gold. And that’s all… I’m quite annoyed by the fact that nearly all the AI have Rocketry, but none want to trade for it. Well..with 514 Gold in the treasure we can continue our 80% science for now.

Turn 1 – 1941 AD:
University finished in Tenochtitlan, starting Oxford University (due in 5 turns). Landed two tanks near New Sarai, the last remaining Mongol city. We should be able to destroy them the next turn.

Turn 2 – 1942 AD:
The battle of New Sarai would start normally, but I decide to wait 1 more turn so our arties can take a shot at the city defences. I promote our tanks with Barrage I and II so they will do a lot of Collateral Damage to the defending units in New Sarai…

image027.jpg

My first action of the day: our transport sinks an empty Mongol Galley. :goodjob:

IBT:
Genghis begs for peace…. Tell him to run before I chop his head off.

Turn 3 – 1943 AD:
Start building Mt Rushmore in Texcoco, this will reduce WW in the future.
And now we’re ready to take New Sarai!

image028.jpg

Our arties start the attack and reduce city defence by half to 20%. Our tank has an even odd to kill the City Garrison II promoted Rifleman of Genghis… We unfortunately loose the battle but do a lot of Collateral Damage. Our 2nd tank kills the next Rifleman and Grenadier easily. Next unit to attack is a Combat III, City Raider I Infantry unit who defeats a Rifleman. Our Combat III Infantry kills another Grenadier, only 1 defending Rifleman remaining who is killed by our Combat II, Pinch Infantry. We loot 145 Gold and burn the city. I pillage the tile improvements and roads in the now neutral area. The AI will for sure settle here as there’s Marble and Oil to grab.

IBT:
Caesar asks us nicely to cancel our deals with the French, as Louis is our next target and furious with us already anyway, I accept. This means losing the 10 gold/turn deal on spices though…I’ll have a look if any other AI wants the spice, but no luck.

Turn 4 – 1944 AD:
Started building some Destroyers. I think it’s important now to build a strong navy as our current navy is obsolete. Once we have some money we can upgrade those Frigate’s. A Great Scientist is born in Tenochtitlan, he can help us discover Rocketry, but it’s due in 1 turn…I decide to wait for next turn and see what he can discover then if anything.

Turn 5 1945 AD:
Bad news…a Persian revolt took place in Beshbalik! We might loose that city…
I suggest a new city site:

image029.jpg

Already started on a settler in Karakorum. Will run 1 turn on 0% science to get some cash and rush the settler. I saw a German transport with settler aboard going in that direction, so we wanna beat them to it. I revolt to State Property, should help our financial situation I hope. Indeed it does… we go from -35/turn to +25/turn @80% science.

Turn 6 – 1946 AD:
I use the great scientist to speed up researching Radio.

I moved our (so far) only Destroyer near French waters on a scouting mission... Now what do we have here….

image030.jpg

Two French transports defended by two Frigate’s full of troops heading in our direction! This is just southeast of Gufnorkopia! I could be wrong, but it seems like Louis is planning a sneak attack on us! If I had 3 more destroyers there I would have attacked him and sink his fleet… for now I wait and see where he’s going with those units. I wanted to rush the settler, but maybe we need all the money I just saved up to upgrade our units. We have 1167 Gold in the treasure now and making 21 Gold/turn @90% science.

IBT:
Louis has declared war on us! He’s going to regret this…

Turn 7 – 1947 AD:
Louis didn’t land his troops yet, so we may have a chance to sink 1 of his transports…we have two frigate’s in range to attack his escorts and the destroyer can take out 1 transport…considering our two frigate’s both destroy the escort Frigates with even odds….

image031.jpg

Bad luck…both our Frigate’s are sunk! But at least the destroyer sunk 1 of the French Frigate's.
I upgrade all our obsolete units on the Island, except for the Jaguar Warrior as money ran out… I lowered science to 50% so we can upgrade again next turn. I give Frederick Refrigeration in exchange for war against Louis and Caesar Fascism in exchange for war against Louis. So we have two allies in this war.

Turn 8 – 1948 AD:
Louis has landed his troops south of Gufnorkopia, 4 Cavs and 4 Arties. I sink one of Louis transports and a Galleon. We have 1 Artillery on the Island, I move him to Gufnorkopia and attack the stack directly south of the city…I promoted the Arty with Barrage I and II. The Artillery wins with even Odds, so 1 Cav is destroyed and some collateral damage to the rest of the units. I was expecting to do more damage though.

image032.jpg

We also have a Cavalry to attack with, the odds are even and we loose. I kill 2 more Cavalries with an Infantry unit I moved over from Texcoco and Tlatelolco. Louis has the 4 Artilleries and 1 cavalry remaining.

IBT:
Louis bombards and attack with 1 of his arties…he lost but we suffered collateral damage…we need to take those bastards out soon.

Turn 9 – 1949 AD:
We discover Radio, going for satellites. I kill the last remaining Cavalry with an Infantry from Texcoco (note that we have no defenders in either Texcoco and Tlatelolco at the moment, I'm using all the units we have available to defend the island!

image033.jpg

I kill another Arty with an Infantry. I attack the arties with my Arty and our arty withdraws but does some damage! I kill another French arty with our most healthy Infantry…just one arty remaining now, we kill him with another wounded Infantry! I’m moving the remaining infantry back to Texcoco and Tlatelolco. Now there’s just a French destroyer left to sink. That damned destroyer razed some nets...and sank some of our Frigate's and Galleons.
The settler is finished in Karakorum, I find Tzintzuntzen on the allocated spot and move 2 tanks, 3 artilleries and 3 infantries next to Rouen. I had saved a picture of this, but it didn't show up in my screenshots folder. Rouen is founded by the french just northeast of Karakorum.

Turn 10 – 1950 AD:
We attack a French Destroyer with one of ours… we don’t even scratch the French destroyer and sink… bad luck there…I had a 2nd destroyer ready to move in for the kill, but now I’m not gonna risk losing that one as well.
Bad news again…Rouen is on a hill and has a City Garrison II and a City Garison I Infantry defending the city. I bombed the defence down to 5 %, but odds are against us. I leave it to the next player to attack or not.
I’m getting Computers and 90 Gold for Rocketry and Ecology from Frederick… far in favour for him, but for now he’s our ally and by the time we attack him we’ll have all the techs anyway and so will he....so there's no reason to hold him back.

Well...and the presidency goes to ThERat now, good luck!

Till said:
Ah finally we are rid of genghis! :D For a second i thought Louis backstabbed us yet again...

You were too quick there :) I wasn't finished with my turnlog yet. The french did attack us as you can obviously read above now. Louis really wants Gufnorkopia it seems! Must be the name huh?

Anyway, here's the savegame. Good Luck!

Oups, sorry for posting in between your turnlog. Good job at defending the forst ,even though the RNG doesn't seem to like us at the moment! It is funny how the AI still is hellbent on getting certain cities.

another warmonger game...I really would like to get bombers, they are really powerful in Civ4 just like arty used to be...

and I want to hurt the French, that sneaky guy....

Yeah it took a while to start of...but we've got our war now! :goodjob:
The AI isn't that far ahead in techs as in your game Rat09 at the same difficulty level, I think the difference here is that we've got many years to build on Infastructure, while in your game we started warring with the Egyptians and Russians pretty early on...which were our only 2 contacts at the time. Meanwhile the 4 remaining AI on the other continent were happily sharing techs and advancing.

Pre-Turn
cover 2 nets, we really should make sure we have better naval defense, everytime we get our next pillaged

IT French destroyer moves away

1. 1951AD
we really need more of everything , naval power, tanks, bombers
find out that Beshbalik is owned by Cyrus now
our battleship takes out French destroyer
raze Rouen for 18gold

2. 1952AD
more war preparation, we need an airport on our Island to send over units once we get to France
send off a transport

3. 1953AD
land 4 units near Besancon in the real artic north

IT and the French land another load

4. 1954AD
send the transport back to Tlateloco, where French unloaded 4 units
defeat the transport and destroyer
almost throw the monitor out of the window as we lose 2 tanks to their though our odds were far better
they have eaten some steroids, some rotten luck here
we need bombers to wound them and defeat without casualties on our side
defeat all 4 units eventually the last tank with a mace

IT satellites -> composites

5. 1955AD
take Besancon and decide to keep it for the future ease of operation
we get 100+ gold for that
check out Rheim, well we do need some support to take that city, ideally 2 transports and maybe a carrier with some bombers

6. 1956AD
check Marseilles and it has only 3 defenders, thats the city we should take first
rush airport in Karakorum to be able to send units back

7. 1957AD
Cyrus completes Manhatten that measn nuclear attacks are possible now....

8. 1958AD
a second transport is ready and filled with units
land 4 units next to Marseilles

IT no French response, that's a good thing

9. 1959AD
take out infantry in Marseilles for exchange of an artillery

10. 1960AD
Marseilles has again 3 defenders, another of our transports will arrive next turn
maybe better to hold off the attack until then
we do have 3 bombers by now that should be rebased then immediately
we will get composites next turn, that should help

Inherited Turn:
Zoom around. Technotitlan is one bellow happiness maximum, but i don't change it as i expect WW issues. Teotihuacan, however, is 6 bellow happiness maximum. I put it back on a growth diet.
Golden Iron is one bellow happiness maximum. I decide to play it safe and stop growth there. Hey we are building ICBMs there! Wow, i have yet to use those in Civ4. Boy oh boy, this is going to be fun! :D Dimychicalco (Dimy's chics? :hmm:  )
is set on a stop growth diet as well. It is one bellow happiness maximum and already struggling with health. It can't grow and build a factory without starving. Wait a minute... a factory in a 10 shield city? Looking for better options... yepp i switch the build to a Observatory instead. Dimy's chics are more about money than producing things.
Xochicalco has reached its happiness maximum. No point in letting it grow any further. Start to work two cottages instead.
Acidentaly clicked on the Military Advisor instead of the Foreign one. The game crashes.
Frederic's Mech Infs unnerve me a bit, but as long as Louis doesn't learn how to build them everything is cool.
Huayna Capac is ready to give is clams for deer, but we got our own clams. Just not connected.

*enter*

(1) 1961 AD:
large7uv.jpg

We learn composites. Hey, future techs bring +1happiness/health! Didn't know that. I double check to make sure only conquest and domination are enabled and then go for robotics.
It is the only other military tech left. Now that UN vicotry condition is disabled, there is no way for us to get a general nuke ban, right?

Some military units finish and i order more. I'll leave that out of my report, if you don't mind. I don't think it really adds much information and those Aztec names are a pain in the butt to memorize. ;) Just say if you miss that sort of info and i'll put it back in the next time.

Louis has an invasion force swimming our way.
seabattle6hv.jpg

Word is send to our Navy to do something about it. A destroyer with Flanking 2, promptly dubbed MS Faintheart, takes a stab at a destroyer near our coast. Odds are 30-39 against us, but we manage to withdraw. MS Faintheart backpaddles to the next port with 3.6/30 left. The french destroyer only lost about 4 health. Seriously, what is the point of the flanking promotion? I'd much rather have a combat or firstshot promotion over flanking, but maybe i am missing something.
Before i send a battleship to finish off the hurt destroyer, i decide to sink the actual invasion force first. It is brilliant that the odd calculater displays "1-2 chances for a first strike", but doesn't actually include them in the calculation. Oh well the French transport along with the escorting battleship go diving for seamaids anyway. :-)

(2) 1962 AD:
The Battle for Marseilles:
As opening move, i send the artillery in. Unfortunately, the brakes are malfunctioning and it actually tries to capture the city! The men press their boots on the wheels and manage to stop it in time, allowing it to retreat after causing some colleteral damage. A tank knocks the first defender out. The second one is sucessful as well and the third one finishes the job.
I keep the city as a bomber location.
Didn't do anything with the gunships, as we haven't run into any tanks yet (thankfully!).

(3) 1963 AD:
Cyrus complets SDI! Just as we finish our first ICBM.

nuke5kp.jpg

Wow it comes with a red button as well! Stylish, even though it a looks fairly... phallic. ;-D

(4) 1964 AD:
Aha! Louis has tanks now. Our gunships were getting bored already. Rheins would be ready for assault, if only our men were healed.

(5) 1965 AD:
Caesar has SDI as well now. The Chinese dump a city just south of Marseilles. How rude.

(6) 1966 AD
Ola! Louis is trying to be friends again. Not this time buddy.. even though we could use the money. Unit upkeep is hurting us. I made a screenshot of his offer, but it didn't show up in the screenshot folder. :( He offered ~1300 gold for peace.
We lose a bomber to a SAM infantry. Otherwise Rheins gets stripped of all defenders, but i have to wait a turn to actually take it.

(7) 1967 AD:
A new source of coal shows up during railroad building. Guess where. Jepp... Golden Iron!

(8) 1968 AD:
We learn Robotics. I go for Genetics next, as the health bonus is nice. But science is no longer a priority, in my opinion.

(9) 1969 AD:
Shuffle units and let them heal.
Gufnorkiopia seem to have suffered worse damage from the repeated invasion, than i though. Extreme case of jaw mislocation :mischief:
huh6qn.jpg

(10) 1970 BC:
We have our first nuclear plant. Hmm i hope it doesn't blow up on us. Our first units arrive near Tours. Argh! I forgot that the artillery has only movement 1. It is a bit exposed now.

---------->The Save<----------

Our war machine is up and running. Louis should be no problem, but do we turn to next? China wouldn't require us to move our units very far... ;-)

So...why didn't you push the button? :) Nuclear weapons become rather useless once the enemy has build SDI, they're too expensive and like 3 out of 4 will be destroyed by SDI. Combined with bomb shelters they don't do that much damage either. So if we wanna use those nukes, we better use them now. Do we have SDI ourselves? If not, I'll definitely start building it during my turns.

at leat Till left it for me to test it now with the save since I have never once used them

No we don't have SDI yet, but yeah, it is a good idea to build it. (Understatement alarm! :D) I didn't use it on Louis because no target presented itself. His cities are weakly defended and no problem for our modern armor. I thought we'd spare it for the Chinese ;).
Please make a screenshot when you use it, TheRat!

I just tried it and it's a big joke...I mean the only ever used nuclear bombs obliterated 2 entire cities and this one just scratches it a little...might as well not use such stuff...the graphics are impressive but then nothing happened...that's just silly
