DGIT # 2-Krafty Koreans

I don't have much to add. Finish off America, switch to Monarchy, conquer rest of continent. Simple as that.

As far as suicide galleys, wasn't there some kind of unwritten rule that you weren't supposed to use them in succession games. I don't care personally, anything for free techs short of ROP rape.

Also, we should continue to do research, just down one specific path, and let AI go down the education path. Unfortunately, our GL will expire with Education.

I'm all for suicide galleys, myself. The AI can see the map, we might as well let our people see the ocean if they want to.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Inherited Turn - 150 AD: I assess the siutation. Two spearmen per city is needed, we determined, and our sword stacks need five to seven per stack. I notice an American settler pair near our borders. Inch'on, one of the border cities, is working on a barracks, and they're poorely defeended. Namp'p

Turn 1- 170 AD That settler pair settled. Manp'o is done with a second settler, which I decide to send to Inch'on. The Americans send a horseman and a settler close by. I'm starting to get irked. I do some spying.

American Frontier Cities: Defense Status:
Seattle: One spearman.
Philadelphia: Two spearmen and Ben Franklin. (Kidding. :lol: )
Boston: One spearman.
Miami: Two spearmen. Will expand in five turns.
Buffalo: (Newest town) One spearman.

I decide to send a garrisoned settler in one of our cities to settle upon the ruins of Buffalo-- once we ruin it. Of course, we must be prepared for a counter attack, if possible. What's his face tells me the Americans have a military equal to ours. We're bigger on the power bar, though.

When the brawl begins, Tajeon and Kaesong are going to be in trouble. I must send spearman there.

The only source of American horsies is in Mi-yi-ami. Our forces outside of Inch'on will march on Miami first. Unfortunately, it will probably be razed, and I cannae have that.

I decide to check on American production. Washington is on Temple of Artemeis, but is in civil disorder. Heheheh. Only two spearmen.

Seven shields per turn, will grow to six six in two turns.

New York: ALSO- oh. Anarchy. ANARCHY? Anyway, they're working on a library, only 22 shields into it. 4 shields per turn. Two spears.

Chicago: 3 per turn, two spears.

Turn 2--190 AD: We learn construction, oooh-ra! Our cave with nice steps gets some nice pillars. American horse enters neutral territory. Spear enters Miami, comes out with a settler. They's heading north, toward Hovd Grr. I'm arranged a new task force for Boston.

Turn 3--210 AD:

American troops enter our land. I yell at Abe. I beat a horseman out of Chonju, because we're going to need him to take out that northern settler pair.

Turn 4-- 230 AD: These Americans! They doggedly enter our land! I yell at Abe again. The Americans leave. Ah.. :)

Turn 5-- 250 AD: Nothing much, troop movements.

Turn 6 -- 260 AD: Troop movements.. :(

Turn 7 -- 270 AD: Craaaap. Oh!

Turn 8 -- 280: :( Crap! American culture expands, making our troops move.

Turn 9 -- 290: Misery is preparing for a war you won't be able to fight in. I declare and move in the troops.

Turn 10 -- 300: Going out with a BANG! We take Philadelphia and Boston. I want more strength around Seattle before I attack there, and it's on its way. The city is surrounded, so it should fall within the next two turns, I think.

Next Player: We've got a horse chasing a settler in the woods up north.It's up to the next player on how to use him-- you can wait for an opportune time to fight, or just use the horse as a scout...

Another horse near Miami-- not sure if he's going to attack our troops near Miami, or attack Boston.

Whoever takes Atlanta, I expressly forbid you of razingi it!

I'm next, aren't I?
I'll get started in about 24 hours (which is tomorrow, after school).
I don't think we should raise any city at this point... We should keep a good rep, so we can choose our own wars.

Hooyah! Nice turns. And Ben Franklin is ours! :D

Can we rename Atlanta? :)

If a city is looking like it will be tough to hold because of culture, raze it. The rep hit isn't too big, and shouldn't affect us too much. But then again, I wouldn't go and raze the whole American nation... I don't recall the Americans having a lot of culture powerhouses thought, so razing is probably unecessary.

Nice Turns SmellinCofee, if you don't get anymore of the action against the americans, then there is always the mongols and sumerians(i think).

Looks like things are getting exciting. :hammer:

alerum68: We've got a lot of swords upcoming..

Errr...
Should I just... Play?
We didn't really plan anything for my turn... Wanna still discuss it or should I just go ahead?

I would go ahead. You start off at war, so take it as far as you can. As long as you can claim the cities to permanently weaken the Americans and to allow for our growth, keep up the hammer. If you get to a point where you don't think we can produce enough units to keep moving forward into America, sue for peace and get whatever you can. I would imagine you can push this war pretty far.

Miami and Philly were the two American horse cities. We want to take both (Philly is already ours), take the American fur city (I don't recall the name) and then push the borders back as far as possible.

Oh, and most importantly... have fun! :D

How do you all feel about starving down conquoured cities to prevent flipping? I've been doing it, and it really works. Haven't had any captured cities flip back on me since I've been doing it, but it takes a while to make that city productive if it's a large city. Still can't figure out how to get rid of that last citizen though. As easily as the intial push went, I think America is going to fall like rotten fruit in this game.

I'm for wiping America off the map, myself -- I don't like having old enemies around the entire game -- so when I go to war, I generally obliterate them.

K, tomorrow I will review the situation and play my ten.
I usually play sorta laid-back (and at times hasty) and often miss things (and reload autosave ><), but I will try my best to make sure this war turns out for the best (I won't reload, no worries).
My usual strategy with war is to declare only when I know I can take and hold at least the first few cities I'm poised to capture, and then push until I can demand all but the capital for peace. I then leave the one city there, since the more living civs there are, the cheaper the tech (by a small degree).
I will try and do this with America, though I doubt at this stage ten turns will suffice for complete victory over the heathens. (Especially since our main force is still in production.)
Anyhow, Long Live Korea. ^_^

(NOTE: I will format the text in a few hours, if you want an easy read, please wait... I just have to go to a play my sister is in, and am leaving now. I apologize for all these delays. EDIT: text formatted.)

Initital observations and adjustments:
Note troop positions and numbers, including the fact that Manp'o is defended entirely by a single Warrior, and is on American border. A likely target for the cowards to try at.
Note that there is a fortified worker in Taejon that could build a road on the coastal Tabacco with no danger, and assign Road-To command.
Note that Sariwon, tucked away in friendly sumerican territory, has a spare Warrior (garrisoned along with the local Spear), which I direct to Manp'o, hoping it will not arrive too late (warrior ends turn on worker stack one tile east of Manp'o, right on a border with neutral territory.)
Finally end turn and actually start my first real turn. ^^

IBT:
American settler pair moves to directly NE of our horseman, which is a hill.
310 AD (1):
Pyongsong Galley -> Swordsman
Galley assigned to autoexplore.
Some wounded swordsmen sent into conquered cities to heal and quell reistance.
Four swords move to forest north of Buffalo. Trusting they don't have a horseman in there, and knowing any workers captured here we can take back, I set worker on border with Buffalo to mine BG.
MM Seoul entertainer to Scientist, now four happy citizens, one content, four unhappy.
Kaesong now has three spears (regular, regular, vet). Fortify vet and send one regular to Boston.
MM boston entertainer to labourer.
Send two swordsmen from Boston to Miami. Will be ready to fight next turn. Fortify four Swords already at Miami. Might as well fight one turn later but with full force.
Send Sword south of Inch'on to Boston.
Firtfy two of the three Swords outside of Seattle, and send a Sword near Wonsan to help them out. This one will be ready for battle next turn, but another is a tile behind, and will only fight turn after that.
Assign some workers and slaves to various jobs in safe areas.
Move horseman to mountain north of Hovd, hoping to cause American settlet pair to move into forest for a slight chance of victory over them.
Check diplomacy, and notice the Mongols aren't available for selling Republic. Whic means they got it too. Argh.
End this amazingly long turn. oO (Gonna try to keep the next one less detailed, I feel I mayh ave exaggurated.)

IBT:
American horse attacks swords near Miami (the ones I moved there last turn) and dies without doing any damage.
See mongol horseman coming out of southwestern end of America.
See American archer from Seattle attack spear headed to Boston, and die, taking one HP down with it.
American settler pair moves to mountain directly NE of our horse.
320 AD (2):
Namp'o: Swordsman -> Swordsman
Note this city is not producing any culture, and decide to let the Temple of Artemis (hopefully) take care of that (due in 22 turns).
Send new sword to Boston, to recieve further orders upon arrival.
Swords outside Buffalo come up on queue, and since this is a relatively trivial city, and there are no reinforcements en route, I decide to attack, taking the city with the first attack, without any losses (not a single HP)!
Buffalo -> Spearman
Send the three now-spare swords to road in NE.
Taking our victory at Buffalo as a sign that the RNG is in a good mood, I attack Seattle. The first defender falls easily to our first attack, causing us no damage. Second defender does 1 point of damage, and dies. SEATTLE IS OURS! Take that Lincoln! (Mo' like Stinkoln! ^^)
Seattle -> Spearman
Send three now-spare swords to forest East of NYC.
Hoping we're on a roll here, I attack Miami! First defender gets redlined, but kills our first attacker, and gets promoted. But then the next attacker kills it and takes the city!!! Miami is now, and forever will be, an integral part of the Korean Empire.
Miami -> Spearman
Send one now-spare sword into Miami as a garrison, send the other two to NYC. In 5 turns we will have five swords outside New York.
Move horse to mountain NE of American settler pair via plains SE of them.
MM some workers and slaves.
Send spare Bostonian sword to NYC.
All friendly nations except for Byzantines now have Republic. I decide to sell it to them for whatever they can give, rather than delay the inevitable. Get 33 gold.
MM Hyangsan so it won't revolt, setting up a scientist.

IBT:
Mongol horse steps into Korean territory.
American settler pair moves to Mountains NW of our horse, on the border with Sumeria.
330 AD (3):
P'yongyang: Swordsman -> Swordsman
Wonsan: Swordsman -> Hanging Gardens (as Sun Tzu prebuild, perhaps a bit late. ><)
Cheju: Swordsman -> Swordsman
Hyangsan: Swordsman -> Swordsman
Kaesong: Spearman -> Spearman
NEWS FLASH: Americans are building Hanging Gardens. Copycats.
Send new spear from Kaesong to Boston.
Fortify 3/4 health sword in Seattle, and move Sword south of Seattle towards NYC.
America would agree to give two cities out of four (plus Washington). Let's see what they'll think after we take NYC.
Send another three swords (from nearby Buffalo) towards NYC. They will be there a turn after the rest, but they've got nothing better to do.
Send one spare spear to buffalo, and place a currently unneeded second spear from Pyongsong in Philly, freeing up a sword, that I send to NYC. I can prolly take the other sword away from there and not suffer any consequences, but rather leave it as is for a while.
Send some Swords to NYC (which was btw the only city they weren't willing to offer for peace at all.)
Send a sword towards Manp'o, to take care of it till we can get a spear in it.
Fortify the new sword in Hyangsan to keep them happy, since they have very good terrain (for production).
Send horseman into hills in Sumerian territory (directly east of american settler pair), to avoid having this chase continue into allied territory (in case they decide to change their mind about our RoP), and see Byzantine Warrior in the jungles to the north.
Spear arrives at Boston, and fortifies. Send a Bostonian sword towards Atlanta, in case taking NY won't make all US base belong to us. ^^

IBT:
American settler pair moves to mountains SW of our horseman.
Another settler, defended by - get this - a horseman, appears near hovd.
Mongolian horse rides across our lands and stops in neutral territory near Seattle.
Byzantine warrior moves to grass west of Umma, NE of our horseman.
340 AD (4):
Daily news: Byzantines are building Hanging Gardens.
Send some more swords towards Atlanta (including the one formerly defending Philly, decided to prioritize a bit).
Move horse to hills in neutral territory, SE of american settler pair. I hope to take the other, badly defended settelr pair.
Several swords arrive at NY, some more right behind them. Check America's diplomacy, and they still won't give more than two cities, but iirc, their position on giving us NYC has slightly improved (now doubtful).
MM some workers.
My, that was a short turn. =O

IBT:
American settler pairs move around a bit, Mongol horseman move northwards.
350 AD (5):
Paegam: Spearman -> Aqueduct
Americans are building the Hanging gardens again. That Lincoln and his damn flowers... We'll never hear the end of it, I think.
Some spears fortify in some cities, some swords head for Atlanta, some other swords fortify outside of New York, some more arrive at the place, too exhausted to fortify.
Our horse moves so it is now on a mountain, in range of attacking the American pair. (Well, actually, two pairs, there is another one in the forests near the Mongolian Ta-Tu, but that one has a spear, so I won't bother. These will have to be hunted later perhaps.)
MM some workers.

IBT:
American settler parties shuffle around (but still will not escape our clever horsie), mongolian horse moves northwest, american archer comes out of New York and places itself on a mountain near our stack.
360 AD (6):
Cheju: Swordsman -> Colosseum (It's a river town, and it's about to become a city.)
Hyangsan: Swordsman -> Aqueduct

Taejon: Swordsman -> Swordsman
American Archer is killed, but causes two points of damage on its way down.
Some swords move around towards New York and Atlanta. Some others fortify outside the same cities.
Some workers are micromanaged.
Our horse attacks the American horse that's frolicking in the forest along with a settler... AND IS SUCCESSFUL! Two new slaves. Yay. The horse will escort them back to safety, then fest some, and then chase some more settelr pairs.

IBT:
Mongol horse moves a bit south, American settler pair moves east.
370 AD (7):
P'yongyang: Swordsman -> Aqueduct
Inch'on: Barracks -> Swordsman
Hovd goes into disorder (how did I miss this?! ><), I switch a laborer to scientist.
Notice that America has founded the city of St. Louis, which I cannot locate on the map. =S
Some swords move, and some ATTACK NEW YORK CITY! First sword gets redlined but kills a spear, second takes down one point for the remaining enemy spear, and dies. Next one takes one point of damage, and takes NYC along with it. Whoot!
New York -> Spearman
MM all three New Yorkers to Scientists.
Get this: America will trade any city other than St. Louis and Washington for peace. I also just noticed St. Louis is located at the northern tip of the continent, right near some furs. We're probably best off taking their entire homeland and leaving them with this city. This will probably be a descision made by the next player.
Some swords are moved towards Washington and Atlanta.
Some northern garrisons are MMed.

IBT:
American settler pair moves to the east.
380 AD (8):
Namp'o: Swordsman -> Aqueduct
Our cave gets some nice trees and bushes and stuff.
Some swords move towards Atlanta and Washington, some are fortified here, there, and everywhere.
Notice the Byzantine Warrior (Elite!) now in the forests at the eastern tip of Mongolia.
Four workers set to Build Trade.

IBT:
Archer comes out of Atlanta and heads south, Byz Warrior moves.
390 AD (9):
Pyongsong riots (silly me, forgot to check for unhappiness in the Domestic Advisor at the end of last turn. ><) Turn a laborer into a scientist.
Swords move towards the two objectives, and some others fortify.
Our two slaves an horseman arrive at Hovd safely. Horse fortifies, slaves are too exhausted to be slavedriven.
Some workers are micromanaged.
Adjust science slider to get some extra gold for the two remaining turns of research on Feudalism.

IBT:
Silly american archer attacks swords heading for Atlanta - AND WINS. =O
American horse appears from the north and heads south.
400 AD (10):
Philadelphia: Spearman -> Swordsman
Sword that witnessed it's partners death, takes vegeance on American Archer (taking its remaining point of health with ease).
Swords move around as usual.
Set the two new slaves to Build Trade, so Hovd have a korean road to the capital. Some other workers and slaves set to Build Trade, some micromanaged.

That's all, folks.
I gotta run for a few hours, so I'll give some extra commentary when I get back.
Don't play before that, please.

Congratulations on your many successes. Seattle, New York, and Miami-- anyone else? :)

Starving works great, but I have seen a starved city flip. Especially if its under cultural pressure from other cities. If we are going to wipe America off the map though, starving is unnecessary. Just don't leave too many units in our early conquests to avoid losing troops to an flip. Leave them outside the city to quickly take the city back.

10 turns probably won't finish off Abe, that's true, so just do your best. Leaving one city is an intersting idea, but it then leaves the other cities open to flip, which isn't good. If we are leaving one city, it must not be Washington, since Washington has the most culture of any American city. Raze Washington, if leaving only one city, or capture it last wiping out America for good.

Let's just consider this early conquest the first use of our NASA budget. Heh. Maybe a catapult or two for early space experiments. We can launch a couple captured workers... :lol:

Ill pick up the save when the upload server is working again, but nice turns blasphemous

Okay, back from the play (It was great).
Feudalism due next turn, ToA due in 15 turns, Gardens due in 16 turns. Gardens are a prebuild for Sun Tzu, but you may wanna switch Temple to Sun Tzu, and switch Garden to Temple. This would probably give us best chances for both.
Our forces are converging on Washington, and if former battles were any indication, we are poised to capture Atlanta. The forces en route to Washington are enough to whipe the Americans out of their homeland, and reduce them to St. Louis and any future colonies. I reccommend doing this.
Our cities are now mostly working on infrastructure, and since there are several Aqueducts on the way, we should try and get a second luxury, and perhaps consider switching to some other construction and going for Feudalism for the stretch of our continental conquest. (If we wanna do this, we should do it once we are done with this wonder race and are at peace, so we don't suffer too much from the Anarchy.)

On a more personal note, I was amazed how fun and engaging it is to play and have to write down your every move. It really made me consider every move much more carefully, and I might even start documenting many of my games just for this effect [and for the enjoyment of others] though it may make my games take four times as long...

EDIT:
I can take some screenies if anyone's interested, and Sandrock, you may wanna update the thread title, it still says "Members Needed". o_O

EDIT2:
Just remembered it may be important to note that the Americans are badly defended, badly organized, and badly stupid. In case this was not evident from my turns.

When I checked Washington pre-war, there was a single spearman in there. I'd expect two or three, now, more if they're beating the populance every chance they can.
