DGIT # 2-Krafty Koreans

Those were some good trades there SpikeIt, just wish you gave more details on it.:p And as for this games progress... I think it's going the same as I was planning when it was just us in a tiny little corner of our contient.... Destroy everyone on our contient, and go from space from there... we're on that path, but if we get bored and need an extra city or two to work up later in the game... well then so be it. We got a while til space... As commies corruption is not an issue... what will be an issue is if we have to rush anything... since you loose pop instead of gold, we don't want to hurry anything unless it'll cost us a city not to... what that means is we should have an assult force, all ready to go at all times.... including Navy to ge our forces over there.... SpikeIt, were you still skimming workers off those cities that I listed that could build a worker a turn forever? RailRoads!!!! We need to get more workers to get them built! We should build workers before *ANY* else is built. Those 5 cities should be on workers until railroads our done... then we can join them to our cities later for milking the score.:p BUT *PLEASE*, everyone remember to skim workers off of those cities, and don't switch to a rifleman which is worthless to us at this point with all those luxuries.

Well, Oblivion was interested in one, too...it'd be pretty cool if DGT played SGOTM as a team, but I know some of us are a bit busy. I'm not, but some of you have real lives to tend to. :p

Well me, you, and Oblivion are almost a team.;) Also, pretty sure we'll have a strict 48 hour turn around because it has to be done before May ends...

I'm in too :D

Cool, that's four. How many are allowed, five?

We'd have to be called Team DGT, though. ;)

Since I'm at work, I can't provide any more explicit details about my turns, but I did send the save off to Oblivion on Saturday. The first zip file was corrupt, so hopefully the 2nd one he received fine. But tonight, I will post my turn log and the save for everyones perusal. Alerum68, you'll have to wait for the trade details until then. :p

But the long and short of it, the rest of my 10 turns weren't very exciting. I badgered Temujin a couple of times hoping he'd break our ROP and declare war, but no dice. :p I continued spitting out workers, but those cities couldn't spit out every turn without losing population. So they alternated between units and workers. Other cities which were growing in a turn also spit out a worker that turn. I probably generated 10 to 15 workers in all. The great railroading has begun with a focus on connecting the cities first.

We founded a new city on one of the ocean rocks to share with Spain. Oh, and we started a ToE palace prebuild. Medicine is due in 4 with only Scientific Method keeping us from this wonder.

The only tech out there that we lack currently is Democracy which we don't need. No one has researched Military Tradition. The AI Civs are still in the middle ages, lacking Theory of Gravity and Magnetism.

We definitely want to research Sci Method next, if only because we need another wonder to switch to if the AI happens to research ToG soon and switches to Newtons. As it is, Pyongyang is something like 11 or 12 turns away from Newtons. Another railroad or two will cut that down.

Yeah, I PM'd Oblivion back. I have to pass. Lots of time to post from work, but little time to play Civ at home... If only I could play at work... Good luck to Team DGT though!

Only 4 are allowed on the SGOTM SmellinCoffee

Yea, i guess me, Smellin, Solar and Alerum can make up our SGOTM team then.

I have played half of my turns, railroading is commencing, i am skimming workers where i can. I changed a few courthouse builds in small cities that weren't even corrupt up north.

We have an iron works city :)

Big one is: Spain and Celts are at war. Celts appear to be winning with the spanish core collapsing. My privateers sunk quite a few ships over on there continent. ROP with Mongols ends in a turn and i'm thinking about finishing them off. Any objections? im waiting till our ROP (why?) ends so i don't ruin our rep though.

Oh yeah. Forgot to mention the ironworks city. ;)

Spain and Celts at war? Yikes. Well that will slow down the AI tech pace even further. Actually thats a bit of a detriment to us because:
1) Both Spain and Celts were the AI tech leaders and potentially are good traders for future techs. Persia, in the mix, doesn't have the money to keep up.
2) Both Spain and Celts are the AI civs with the most money to trade for. We like taking AI gpt. :D
3) If the Celts crush Spain, they will become the power on that continent and become enemy #1 for us.

Watch out for broken trade agreements. Unfortunately this war may ruin our rep due to our many lux trades. We may have to go luxury hunting afterall... :hammer:

Oh yeah. I say be gone with both Mongolia and the Byzantines. Those cities would look much better in Korean blue.

Yea, neither of them has researched ToG yet or magnetism. They haven't researched anything since the start of my turns.

Celts will prolly be fine to trade with after they cease all Spanish assets... They'll prolly have nearly as much money as they both would put together... Who cares where the money comes from, as long as we get it?
About rep, our rep is not hurt by the other side's part of the deal being broken, only by ours being broken... If Spain give us a lux and we give them some gold, and then Celts take that lux, the deal will be broken and Spain will suffer a rep hit. We just have to pay again to get that lux. =\
Hey, that's a good reason never to pay upfront for lux/res and always use gpt...

Cool. I thought the rep hit went both ways. I don't recall if I traded any luxes back to Spain in my deal. Probably not. I agree the Celts will likely become even greater "investors" in our space program. But its always nice to "spread the love" around a bit. The Celts may appreciate our techs, but may not care for another luxury if they grab one or two the Spanish held.

(SGOTM question, have we signed up yet?)

Right-O, signed up and all of that.

Now, on to THIS game. The new look is confusing to me, unfortuantely..too used to Deep Blue.

Here's my turn log as promised...

Before start. 10 cities rioting. Steam Power due in 8, lux at 20%, have about 1000 gold, a little gpt coming in. Celts, Persia and Japan all have luxuries for sale. We have 190 units and can support 360!
We have an ROP with Mongolia for 19 turns and with the Byzantines for 16. Not sure why.

We do not have commercial wonder, so we can build wonders and not trigger our GA.

Buy some embassies to help with trades...
Japan - costs 101 gold. Kyoto size 7, building cathedral, guarded by 4 spear
Celts - costs 114. Entremont building marketplace. Pulling in 15spt.
Spain - cost 120. Madrid had Magellans due in 14. 22spt. Has Copernicus, Temple of Artemis, Colossus, Templar
Persia - 55 - Persepolis buried in mountains can't really grow. Lack iron and only gets 5spt.

Trades -
Japan - Give Theology, Chivalry for silks, WM and 10 gold.
Vikings - Gives 1gpt, 25 gold and WM for our WM.
Celts - Trade Physics for Spices, Dyes, WM, 15gpt, Music Theory, 60 gold
Spain - Physics for WM, 26 gpt, 114 gold, Economics
Rome - buy WM for 1 gold
Persia - Physics for Gems, WM, 10gold

Now back at 893 gold, steam due in 5 @ +6gpt

IBT
We love the King day everywhere!

[1] 1530AD
Start Pyongyang on Newtons due in 20.
Switch Boston Palace to Bach's due in 1.
Switch many courthouses to libraries and aqueducts since corruption is very minimal in smaller cities.

IBT
Boston completes Bachs. Starts on courthouse.
Celts and Spanish start Smiths.

[2] 1535AD
Worker movements.
Decide to play mean with the Mongols... Demand their 8 gold...Ahh, wouldn't bite.
Diplo rounds... everyone is broke...

IBT
Byzantines come calling... Hmmm. They'd like an MPP. How thoughtful. Uh, no thanks.

[3] 1540AD
Decide to establish embassy in Rome. Rome is well defended, and is busy building units. Ho hum. A decent food site with one lux in borders. 2 clowns assigned.

[4] 1545AD
Steam due next turn. Ready some workers for rails.

IBT
We lose our supply of wines. Persian must want a bit more for them...
We can get them back for Economics, furs and ivory. We have him toss in his 111 gold and his world map as well.
We learn Steam Power! We start on Electricity due in 6.
The Hanging Gardens are obsolete now.
We have 3 coal hooked up already.
We get iron works message... Where?
Pesians start Smiths.

[5] 1550AD
Chonju can build iron works! Start railroading.
We miss the Hanging Gardens effect. Need to get those cathedrals and markets going...

[6] 1555AD
Privateer runs across Spanish galley crossing the ocean. Change that, Spanish gally that was crossing the ocean.
Haeju founded on island sharing with Spanish city of Vitoria.

Celts and Spain have Metallurgy and Democracy now. We could trade a tech for Democracy, but we don't need it.

[7] 1560AD
Workers railroading. Privateers privateering...

IBT
Spanish settle another city on our little rock in the sea.

[8] 1565AD
Railroading...
Spain will give Democracy, 23gpt for Magnetism or ToG - No deal. Celts don't have the money to even deal...

[9] 1570AD
Railroading...

IBT
Learn Electricity! Medicine started, due in 4.

[10] 1575AD
Start Wonsan on Palace pre-build for Theory of Evolution! - Be sure to switch once we get Scientific Method

Notes:
Avoid trading ToG away unless Spain or Celts discovered it. They can't build Newton's right now, but with all the wonder builds, they mights still be able to beat us to it.

Wonsan started a palace prebuild for Theory of Evolution. After Medicine research Scientific Method for the wonder.

And the save: Space!

Nice... feel like our Evil Empire is starting to consoldate very nicely. How were we coming on Courthouse/Police Station builds? I think those are still a pritority. Oblivion, when you play, DON'T FORGET THE WORKER SKIMS!! If you want me to post the city list that can build a worker a turn and never loose pop again, I will. This is so important now that we have to railroad, and we have some cities without ROADS still. After we get courthouse and police stations built, should we start building max Military Police so we can drop luxuries?
