DGIT # 2-Krafty Koreans

Are there any non-DGT members in Bla1 we could coerce into joining us?
Yes, there are...
But I'm not sure if they're all interested in working their way up to DG... But I'll post about it over in the BLA1 thread. ;)
If they're interested, we can start a Monarch-Level DGT3 and run it simultaneusly with DGT2... We can even play that as a two-team shadowed game. :)

 That woke me up! Americans?! Where were they hiding?!

Yup. SmellinCoffee put together our little web page.

The forum sounds like a fine idea. Especially if we decide to grow out this DGiT concept. And it would be a perfect spot for discussions such as this.

As for GotM games, is there really a need for more outlets for these? Granted, I don't play them due to the time crunch, but with Realms Beyond and Civ Fanatics already running them is there really a need for another outlet? Is there a tournament niche that DGiT can fill? I would think the value of the tournaments are the large gathering of players involved. Starting other games of the month really starts to limit the participants. But if its different in some distinct way, well there might be value there.

I just think its hard to start a new tournament and bring it to the same quality level as those tournaments. The Civ Fanatics games always impressed me from an organization and content standpoint. A lot of imagination goes into wrapping a story around the games and providing new content to the games. And the participation level is huge. Amazing detail in tracking scoring as well. The Realms Beyond games intrigue me more due to the varient ideas present and the focus on the game stories. A nice concept which allows game techniques among players to be analyzed. The focus is more on enjoying the games than on winning.

If DGiT was going to makes its mark as a tournament, I think it would need to distinquish itself in some way.

hehehe... that's cool SpikeIt. If ya wanna hang out when you're down here, just let me know... I work 3 cities over from Livermore, and the way the bay area is set up that's about 10 miles.

Heh. Wish I could. But with my wife in the wedding, I'm playing babysitter for the extent of the trip. I'm afraid I won't see much of the bay area beyond the highways to get to Livermore and back. Good thing I was able to vacation in SF last year!

I think probably the ultimate purpouse for the DGiT forum should be simply a place where we can be and where we can expand (more teams, more games at once, etc.)
We probably can't get a serious tournament running, but it is possible to have contests between multiple teams shadowing the same start.

I hate to get off-topic here ( ), but who has the latest save? Alerum was the last person to post a turnlog.

Shadowing starts sounds like a great idea. But I'm not ready to start another game yet. Must finish these first... Personally I'd rather attempt an emperor game next, not monarch. There really isn't much of a difference between Monarch and Regent. Maybe run shadow games at two different levels to see how different they turn out.

Whoa, SpikeIt. ;) Demi-God is only one step above emperor. Surely you don't want us to lose our purpose so quickly. :p

Yeah, aren't we playing a game here?!

Actually I believe we are waiting for Oblivion to post his turn. I played over the weekend and posted on our thread this week.

1)SolarKnight
2)SandrockLQ
3))SpikeIt<==Just Played
4)-Oblivion-<== Has it
5)alerum68 <== On Deck
6)Smellincoffee
7)Blasphemous

Oops, right. How'd I confuse SpikeIt and Alerum? Not as if the names look similar..

Feels like forever since I played - probably because I had to take a skip last time and our roster is nicely padded.

We'll just have to change our name! :p (SiT - Sids in training - okay doesn't sound quite right)

I just want to see a little more challenge in the games. I think its pretty clear in our current game that we'll succeed to launch to space. Heck, we can roll over the other civs now and just be the last civ standing before we launch. I want to play a level a little more unforgiving of our mistakes. We've made quite a few in our current game, but because of the level they don't really have long term consquences. We can just outbuild the AI. If we are striving for Demi-god, lets play levels we are uncomfortable playing. That's part of the fun of the succession game is that as a team we can overcome each of our weaknesses. And I know a few of us have been playing those training games making our team even stronger. If we lose, so be it. I think we'll get more out of a losing effort at emporer than a runaway game at regent. Let's shoot for the moon! ( and I'm not just talking about our current space race :p )

Have any of us won a solo game on Monarch? I haven't. I've tried twice, but I lost interest in the ancient era. The first game was tiring because everyone and their uncle kept declaring war on me for no reason, even though I kept winning the wars. The second game..eh. My civ was shaped like Vietnam- narrow and long. Not good for corruption, so I gave it up in early middle ages.

I decided to open the last save to see where we are, since this team seems to have an allergy to posting screenshots. Post screenshots, lurkers love `em and it keeps them reading the thread. :)

We're commies! Whoo! No Espionage, though. We need Espionage for the Secret Police HQ. Since we're searching medicine, I take it we're planning to go for sanitation to get hospitals?

The Byzantine city of Nassius has:
- one pikeman
- one spearman.

The Mongolian city of Erdenet has:
- two spearmen.

I say let `em join their comrades! We're four techs into the middle ages and everyone else is still in the middle ages. Nice. Why are the Spanish orange? Please don't tell me this is a modded biq. I retire and see that no, it's not modded. Whew.

Okay. You've got me. But only because I don't have time to play solo games. I'm in the middle of my first solo monarch game, on continents. Started it in January I think. I abandoned my first C3C game due to patch creep. Anyhow, its the middle ages, I'm easily the top civ in the game. I'm squashing my closest competition and feel fairly certain I will win the game. Heck, I've probably only finished three games ever (and with 3 expansions, my hall of fame is now empty!! ) My previous game was a crushing regent win on PTW that ended in the middle ages.

I'm also playing SUBI1, a monarchy varient SG. Well its still almost a variant. Anyhow, that game has pretty much paralleled ours. If we ever finish it, I think we'll easily clean up.

But that's just it. I don't feel its necessary to have won at a level to play an SG at a level. We just have to accept that we can lose it, and if so, I bet we had a lot of fun in the mean time.

Now now, no peaking! :nono: For all I know they could have 20 mean looking archers hiding under there! ;)

Oh oh. Blas1 left you a bit skeptical? :D

As for our techs. My intention was to research medicine and then Scientific Method. I have a prebuild in Wonsan started to switch to ToE. Afterwards, we can grab Industrialization and Espionage, maybe getting Sanitation somewhere in there.

So investigate `em yourself. :p

Trying another game on Monarch at the moment. My kingdom is at best unweidly.

I have played 5 turns. I'll try and play and post the other 5 soon. Might be another 24 hours though, im having a real tough time at school.

I'll post my turn log for the first five right now however.

Inherited turn
Ooh lots of fireworks, the people love me (hehe, glad i fired that
luxury buying 'hero' SpikeIt out of a Hw'acha)
Spanish are orange? Well i'll be.
Why is our iron works city building a marketplace? I switch to Iron
works, it doesn't have any happiness issues and our GPT is looking goood

1580 Change some courthouse builds, most of those cities ain't corrupt. Some of them change to ducts, others temples or cathedrals
Sink Viking galley, notice their tiny empire :)
continue railing.

Whoa, we have 8 iron, 5 horses, 3 salt and 4 coal. Nice, but there is
a central island with more iron, send privateers to sink any other
interested parties

IBT: Izzy tells me to get my frigate out. Sure why not, you'll get yours.

1585 More railing, skim a few workers off some cities

IBT: Holy Moly, Celts declare on Spanish. The only two real contenders on the
other continent are now at war. Should slow tech down, but we don't want the celts getting too big. Celts take 2 spanish cities.

1590 So much railing. Medicine next turn.

IBT: Medicine --> Scientific Method. WOW, only 4 turns. Spaniards take a city back

1595 More railing lol. Sink a celtic caravel and roman galley

IBT: Nothing

1600 Not much either. You got some strange goto orders on privateers spike

Aah. The iron works. Figured I'd enhance the city before starting on the works. No problem with the switch though.

As for the crazy privateers, I should have warned you. I think they were automated to explore or something. I inherited that. I stopped most of them, but a few escaped my mouse. :crazyeye:

Ah, I see. America stole Spain's primary color and the Sumerians stole her secondary color, so she just went with England's.

What are we going to do if Brennus gets too big for his briches? Declare war and then get all of those other nations to declare war on him?

On Monarch, I've won once, failed at my Emperor attempt. I'd like to have the next game be Emperor too, but I'm not planning on winning an Emperor game soon... Still have a while to go before we're ready for DG. Is a HUGE step up in levels beyond Monarch. But we really need to get this game moving along... Most people aren't posting a got it until someone asks who's up....:p

I don't like the new version of the forum at all... I just had gotten used to how it was, and now all my post are getting screwy.:p

Hmmm. Do we care? As long as he stays behind us and doesn't pose a threat, Brennus doesn't matter. We'll have to watch how Spain handles him. With the Spanish and Celts being the most advanced AI civs, there is really no other civ that poses a significant threat to Brennus. Even a dogpile might be rebuffed rather easily. The only other civ technically close is the Persians, and I don't think their production level is that great (at least not in their capital!)

Do we want to invest in improvements to spead along our space race, or in units to police the world? Now if Brennus decides to not want to trade anymore and gets a big head with his domination of his lands... well, that a different story! :hammer:

I guess its really a tough call. We can start building galleons and units to get a mobile army and if Spain starts sinking fast, step in as a "peacemaker". Or we can just let them sink.
