DGIT # 2-Krafty Koreans

Patience SC, Patience. I was at work until an hour ago.;) No worries, y'all shall be blessed with the continuing saga of the Krafty Koreans!

Turn 0 (1600AD)
Change Settler in Chenju to Police Station. The city has slower growth then some other cities we could get a settler from.

Change pretty much every city I can to Police Station. It may not make much sense to do this, but we have such a large lead in every aspect I figure it won't hurt to play around and see If I can get corruption down. The only thing I don't change are the aqueduct builds... can't believe we've gone this long without doing that in those cities. That and Rifleman of course.

I'm really sorry for making all these changes, but I think it'll pay off in the long run... and post won't be finished before my turns so someone else can change it.

I'm still not sold on moving the Palace, espcially since it's only Moving to Wonson. I think this should be switch to Smith's, but think we should vote on the veto.
Going to take Chonju 22 more turns to build Iron Works... I bet that will be brought down to 18 turns with all the police stations.

Our Contient shall now be ours, and ours alone. Before Theodora and Ganghis can tell how badly we treated them, I decided to destroy them. First Gangis. Try and extort their gold, but he won't give in. So I just declare war.
Wake stack of Knights we left outside of Erdenet.
Knight destroys spearman.
Miracle Spearman beats our Knight, and promotes!
Third Knight is redlined and retreats, but takes spearman down to 2hps.
Last Knight in stack takes out Spearman, but a warrior is left.
Wake a Knight waiting in Caesarea and send him north. He takes the warrior, and we capture erdenet, liberating those 8 gold pieces he wouldn't give me just a short time ago... Set build to Rifleman due in 40?! MM to get it in 27. Change my mind, and instead whip 2 citizen on an explorer, then switch back to rifleman. I did it mainly to get rid of Mongolian population... I know they won't flip, but I hate to see not natives in our cities.:p

Now I tell Theodra goodbye...
Move Knights into her lands.
Move some Ancient Cav up there too, just to get them out of the way.
Knight vs Pike. Knight is redlined and retreats.
Vet Knight redline pikes, then dies. Spearman pops up.
Use the Ancient Cav to take on the Spearman. Ancient Cav dies.
Decide to pull out the Knight to take him out. He takes him out easily.
This really irks me. Have a 1 HP pikeman left inside Naissus. That's it. 1HP between us and a pure Korean homeland...

IBT
Some naval movement by the AI.
New York Rifleman ==> Worker
Atlanata Rifleman ==> Worker
Paegam Police Station ==> Rifleman
Someone's culture expands... not quick enough to see who.
Suwon Aqueduct ==> Courthouse

Madria completes Magellan's Voyage.
Persians Cascade towards Smiths. No idea how long til they build it. We do have that Palace pre-build already... *HINT!!!! HINT!!!!!*

Continue roading with workers. Going to try and get them in stacks of 6.
Fortify all units that just built.
Move Galley into Constantinople to be upgraded or disbanded.
Move 3 Knights into Erdenet and fortify them.

Vet Knight attacks 3/4 heals Pike in Naissus... no barracks?? We win, lossing 1hp.
Spearman pops up and use Ancient Cav to take him out. We got a Great Leader! Name him Ramerka because I like that name. Start sending him toward the Capitol to figure out what to do with him... Move rest of the Knights inot Naissus. We now have a Korean Homeland, true and proper.

Byzantinum is gone.
Turn Sci slider down a notch.

Turn 2 (1610AD)
Workers build railroads.
The Galley in Constaninople doesn't upgrade, and don't think we need much of a navy so disband the galley. Takes a turn off the city build.
Move Knights around between Naissus, Varna, and Erdenet to get 4 in each.

IBT
Spain wants MPP + ROP
Scientifc Method comes in. Go for Industriliazation so we can build some factories. We're going to need a ton of workers soon. 5 turns at 70%. Could do 4 in 80%, but think I can turn down later and gain a few beekers this way.

We lost ALL our luxuries.

Turn 5 (1625AD)
Scroll through and see that we didn't need any of those luxuries... we won't have WLTKD through half the empire though. Go half way. The Celts will trade us Spices, Dyes, 46GPT, 4g, and WM for Iron... They're at war with Spain, but Spain already has Iron... I think it's worth the trade... BTW- He gave all his GPT to get that. We'll want to talk to him again in 20 turns... see if he's making any more money for us.;)

IBT
Damn it. Karakorum riots. Going to scroll ahead and check all the cities. That was the only one who went.

Inch'on Police Station ==> Worker
Smyrna Aqueduct ==> Courthouse
Treizbond Courthouse ==> Police Station

Turn 6 (1630AD)
Railroads... (yawn)
Was able to finally make up the sci slider gambit, and got about 100+ gold from doing it that way.
Trade Theory of Gravity to Persia for Gems, 38 gold, Democracy, and WM. They won't give us 1GPT. Wonder if they're broke.
Trade ToG to Spain for WM, 70g, and 56 GPT.
Yes, they're in the same age as us now, but I wanted to get the tech pace moving...
Japan wants a fortue for his silks, and we don't need them unless we want to go WLTKD again. These last trades may do it.

Checks trades. Celts are the only thing out there... deal is Military Tradition, WM, +5g for ToG. Decide to take it. They still need Magnetism to get our of the Middle Ages. We can build Cavalry now though.

IBT

Suwon Courthouse ==> Police Station

*** NEWS FLASH *** Persians are building Shakespeare's.

Turn 10 (1650AD)
Just Railroad some more.
Upgrade 2 spearman to Rifles just because I don't want to see them anymore. Cost 180 gold.
hehehehe... found 1 last Privateer on Goto orders searching the North Pole. Send him back home.
I left the Military Leader active... you may want to build an army with him on your pre-turn.

Notes:
Just keep building Police Stations and Courthouses. Any cities that are size 12 should be skimming workers whenever we can. We have ALOT of land to improve... not even our core is complete. We grew to quickly, and unless we want to fall behind the wayside in the Modern Age we HAVE to build workers to get our land up.

Workers should be grouped so they're able to do a railroad a turn on plains or grassland. That's 6 native workers, or 12 slaves.

Sorry, no pictures this time... it's 1am and have work tommorow. If someone wants to, they can go ahead and take some from my save.;)

Again, I really recommend leaving all the police/courthouse builds. We should have one of each in EVERY city before we get into the modern age.

Here's the save .

Cool, Cool. We do need more workers and the police stations should help.

The palace prebuild was meant for the ToE though i do believe. Don't know if we want to do that or keep it for Hoover.

Good set.
RE Smith's, I think a well-timed GA is worth more than that wonder... We should have the Internet trigger our GA, as I've said before.
RE Palace, we can use the leader to pop a palace wherever we want... I doubt we could really use an army any time soon, though we can always keep the army empty till our next conquest and then load it up with the latest military hardware...
RE Factories, I usually wait with factories till I've got the city's radius completely railroaded... It's just not worth the bother if your workers have to go off of the railroad network for the pollution...

Is that what the palace is for? Thank god, because I don't see it helping with corruption where we are moving it. Don't see it doing anything in fact, but eatting up another 40 turns. So, we're going to wait for a *LATE* GA this game? Is that the only reason we're not building smiths? umm... Didn't we already go into a Golden Age? I could be mixxing it up with another game, but I could have sworn we fought our wars, or some of them, with our GA.

As for the leader... I didn't think we could use Military Leaders to rush any wonder type items... does this exlude the palace? I'd rather keep the Palace now for a Pre-build for Hoovers. That one, as well as The Internet are the only 2 wonders I see as crucial... That and Apollo's of course.:p

Palace can be rushed by MGL.
And the palace gives its own city zero-corruption.
And we'll need our GA much much more as we enter Modern Times, when we'll be trying to get as far ahead as we can and start building spaceship parts.

I think we want our GA when we get The Internet, as this will give us fast tech pace for the space component techs, as well as hightened production for said Components :D

The palace is an "improvement", so it can be rushed by MGL. By the by, can MGLs rush small wonders? It'd be nice to rush Apollo so we could start building our spaceship parts ASAP..

Yes, MGLs can rush anything short of a Great Wonder...
Speaking of...
Just completed my latest solo game, Domination as Communist Britain. My score was higher than the total of the scores of all the remaining opponents... Anyway, earlier on, I had in a very short number of turns, the SGL Isaac Newton rush Newton's and then the SGL Charles Darwin rush the Theory Of Evolution. :D
That was humorous.

:lol: Wouldn't happen in my game, as Mr. Darwin suddenly vanished from the English SGL list. ;)

Nice set! :goodjob: Yup, I started the Wonsan palace pre-build for ToE. Definitely NOT to put the palace there.

Nice set of trades. Did you try trading ToG to Celts for those luxes before trading iron? I think iron will allow him to build gallics for his golden age. Kind of handy in battle versus Spain, I suppose. Although that may not be in our best interest. It is rather late in the game though. Your trade order to Persia before Spain should probably have been reversed too. Persia has been broke. Spain has moola. Spain might have been able to give a little more. But, hey nice trades all the same. And as it turns out ToG a few turns later nabbed us Military Tradition. Sweet. :cool:

So, I say we use that leader for an army, send it and some cavs to visit the Vikings so we can get our army victory and build the Military Academy. You never know when we might need it. Too bad we didn't get the leader before vanquishing the Mongols. Then it would have been a no-brainer.

Privateers - yeah, crazy privateers all over the place. Someone must stop the madness! :lol:

Sooo, SmellinCoffee - You're up!

1)SolarKnight
2)SandrockLQ
3))SpikeIt
4)-Oblivion-
5)alerum68 <== Just Played
6)Smellincoffee <== Up
7)Blasphemous <== On Deck

Anymore discussion on what to do with our MGL?

By the by, whoever was confused about having our GA: Oblivion and SpikeIt are in another Korean thread that sparked their GA with wonders (Magellan's Travel).

Switch the palace build in Wonson to something that takes a while... at least 10 turns to make sure we can get Hoovers with it. Then we use the MGL to move the Palace to a more secure location. We are on "builder" mode, IMHO, for rest of the game. We may do a war if things get boring, but if that's the case we can go leader hunting once we start the war. Just find 2 evenly matched oppopents, where ours is elite, and theres a good chance there will be a leader. I'm looking at the game now, and the best City I see for the Palace move is Inch'on. Is deep within our terriorty, and this area has always been more productive then our core. We got shafted with starting position on this map. Chonju would be a good choice, but we'd have to wait 10 more turns for the Iron Works to complete. I'd say go with Inch'on.

EDIT: Be careful! Smith comes in 8 if you switch, so make sure you MM to slow it to at least 10 turns.

*sigh* :blush:

I um, spent the day working on a library in The Sims' downtown. I have got a good sidewalk thing going on. :goodjob:

:(

hehehehe... Oh well... I'm probably going to be pretty bad over the next few weeks... my girl got me an X-box for my birthday!!! needless to say, Civ3 is going to be cut back a bit...

I've got an out of town trip coming up near mid-June, so I would like to get my next turn done before than. :p

Have no fear, I'm not going to TOUCH that library until I play my turns in DGT today. ;)

I'm sorry to do this, guys, but you'll have to skip me until next Saturday. I just received a phone call...my senior pastor's wife just died. :(
