Pah! My first ever job was testing a batch of 300/300 modems.

Dialup then was NOTHING like dialup today. Wasn't even a Hayes code to autodial - you had to plug a phone into them and wind the dial around.

Of course, OS weren't the bloaty beasts of today either. And the Web was unheard of.

Count your blessings YOU weren't around in the dark ages of IT, OK?

Some of us were. :p 300bps was godawful slow, but all it was pushing was ASCII. At least I'm free of the audiocassette "mass media storage" where you had to manually FF or rewind to your program, then hit Play to upload it.

Oh, and cable broadband at home, thank the potentially fictitious higher power(s).

The good old days, when the creeks were clean and sex dirty.;)
Before email, internet, heck even computers. Then getting on and pay 1000$ for a 20MB hard drive :D.

Ditched dial up a long time ago. Refuse to use any computer on a dial up moderm. In fact about three months ago I upgraded my modem so I can take advantage of Comcast's 6mb of bandwith.
