Did I blow a speaker?

A few days ago, I inadvertently had both the system and speaker volume up at the highest level. I turned it off within a few seconds though. (Normally I have the system volume low and the speaker volume higher, but I was watching a video with very low audio level and forgot to turn it back down.)

Anyways, since then, I've noticed audio coming out of my speaker sounds... I'm not sure if this is the right word, but "wobbly." Like the volume & pitch keeps going up and down minuscule levels. A lot of people wouldnt really notice I dont think but it's bothering me.

At first I suspected my ear had fluid in it again (I was temporarily deaf earlier this year because of that) but then I tried my headphones and portable CD player and it wasn't that.

The other alternative is that since I moved house, the room size is different and that is affecting it.

I've not been able to identify whether its the right or left speaker that's doing it.

What do you people think?

Check connections and drivers, but yeah you can bust your speakers if you turn them up to full power---meaning the physical power/volume/bass knobs. The knobs should usually be set to 50% of max. If you want better output than that---buy better speakers.

Depends on the speakers - good speakers use logarithmic control, in my case 50% on the volume knob is about 1/16 of the maximum volume.

I was poking around the computer with a can of compressed air (it picked up quite a bit of dust on the move and I just found the compressed air) and noticed somehow the speaker cord had worked loose. I plugged it back in fully and the issue went away.
