Hey,

Name: Ian Franklin Piper
Nationality: American
Pre-Change Occupation: Jack of All Trades
Pre-Change Background:
Spoiler :
I was the single child of seperated parents. Happened at age 4. My mother couldn't handle the
motorcyle club life style which my Father throw his full interest into. I love my mother for this.
Most likely saved my life. Strange how that I would think of that now. As my Father rose up
the ladder of command to a position called a Devil's Hand (Title has been changed, never know
who might remember him). I spend those years growing up at my Grandparents & visiting my
fathers side of the family on weekends (court appointed). I learned the fine arts of cooking &
of all the old ways to can & perserve foods. The smell of a fruit celler still bring memories.

My Grandfathers truly great men in their youth. Both WWII veterns. One a farmboy from
Pennsylvania. Well still Pennsylvania but how can anyone tell anymore. He gave me the lessons
of Fishing & bait. Bait. What a little word with such a devious meaning. Everything has a bait.
Good words to remember. He gave gave a military glint to everything. Giving me the hobby of
all things military. All eras of human killing & military engineering. You name it I have read it.
From Sun Tzu to General Paul von Lettow Vorbeck. From Forts of the Early Celtics to the
Aquaduct Systems of the Aztecs. From the German SS Handbook to But I rant.

Thinking back now it seems that my other Grandfather was the opposite of my fathers dad. He
gave me the lessons of physical fitness & love for studying all things. The smell of encyclopedias
brings memories of sitting for hours on the front room floor reading. Random bits of which I still
remember. Note Humor & laughter is a good thing. A ball game can do wonders. He was also the
man who taught me that one man can change the world. He also believed in a second language
& I learned to speak spanish. Not the latin spanish of the Americas. Which I found to be hard
to understand until the high school classes.

My stepfather was a high priced survyer. From him I learned how to read blueprints & the use
of plans. Hands on construction was the name of the game with him. From new rooms to barns
to docks & small bridges. Ever the builder. Funny how a little thing like line of sight or how
hydrodynamics can mean the difference between life & death now.

At age 8 I got a call from his father from prison.Seems he was convicted for some major crime.
One that I know I have to commit sooner or later. At age 14 father returned long enough to
reinforce his believes of the world. It was also at this time I was bought my first horse. I hated
those bastards from the beginning. But father purchased me a new one for the next 3 years.
Then he was gone but 2 years of learning the ways of the horse from its birth to its death by
friendly fire.

Years later I would spend one year of my life living with him & his family. I'm talking old style living.
You see he lived back in the woods on a 200 acres plot. No running water, outdoor bathroom,
goat herding & breeding. The only meat was killed on the land. Even saw a 6 point shot from
the kitchen table through a door to a nonexistent deck. Ever have homemade ketchup from
your own graden. Not pretty. During this year I learned the ways of tracking & the ability to
have awareness of my surroundings. I put to the test some of the knowledge of all that
military reading. Bait & Ambush. Cammo & concealment. Strange how my father would teach me
such things. Like the use of a tomahawk & how to throw it. How to make a bowie knife from
chainsaw blades. Best blade I ever had. Best pummel to. Solid brass thick enough to crush
a rotts skull. Note Look for hunting dog lic. in county files.

My teen years were spent crusin the backwoods roads. It would be a moonshine runners dream.
Roads twisting through dense forests & hollers. Note look for county road maps the older the
better. Topo maps to most updated.

I attended a local 4 yearer & was surpised to see my father applying that first day & his push
for me to learn german. It was required to know a second language to major in history. Once
again that strange oldman would teach me. His era of studies for his history major was the
American Civil War. The german was for studying the report from observers here from Prussia.
He also had not lost the need to lead & became a confederate calvary re-inactor. Of course
this meant the learning of saber & lance. Note any skill is life now.

Enough about me for now. The light is fading & don't want to ruin my eyes in weak light. I have
managed to gather a group. Some I chose & some that had the need to come with us. I figure
we have the winter, maybe 2 months before the hordes of Baltimore-Washington start to move
this way. Using the Highways as their main route of travel. Hopefully by then sickness & violance
will have claimed many. I must decide. Should I stay or should I go? I'm going to miss the radio.

Who, exactly? I thought I might have missed something.

Any descrepancies in the spending of points will be sorted out when I do Update 0. Incidently, that'll be tomorrow. If anyone else is out there, on the fence, you may want to consider creating your character sooner rather than later. With each progressive update it'll be harder for you to survive.

EDIT: To clarify, orders are not needed for Update 0.

Apologies, I was... out of it. :)
Edited for more sense!

Yarden Shavit
Nationality: Israeli
Pre-Change Occupation: Private grocery shop owner
Pre-Change Background: Male, 34. Yarden shavit is one of those people that prefer to enjoy life rather then follow strict guide lines for life. At the age of 21 after leaving the army he begun studying for a degree in agricultural sciences but before his last year he dropped out and took over his father's grocery shop with the man's death. He quickly found out that the grocery shop was more enjoyable then the university and quickly became friendly with the workers in the place. Is two latest workers are Shaul Yam (male 24) and Leha Rabinovich (female 25). He also discovered an inner ability to manage the shop and other groups of people. At the time of the change he was at the grocery shop working with his two close employees and his first order of business was to close down the shop and remain with his 2 friends inside.

Roger Martino
Nationality: American
Pre-Change Occupation: Postal Carrier, Volunteer Firefighter
Pre-Change Background: Roger had worked for the post office for most of his adult life, but even longer than that, he had been a volunteer firefighter in his town of Estacada, Oregon. Besides firefighting, his other hobby was raising horses and cattle, and he especially liked to read and learn about the way the "true" cowboys of the 1800s worked their ranches. He is a practical man, well liked in his community (he has many friends at the fire department, after over twenty years of service there he has been a lieutenant but is so knowledgeable, even the chiefs ask him for advice at times.) and ready to help himself, his two sons (age 20 and 18), and friends survive.

Important Words on the Update and all future Updates

This update only reflects the first twenty-four hours of the Change and the chaos which takes place, meaning no food is consumed and we are within the critical first stage of the failure of modern technology. Governments are more or less still functioning on a local level and though things may be bad in some areas, the majority of the world still isn't quite sure what is going on.

Updates will generally present your character's group with a dilemma or problem which they must confront and preserve against. This is fully linked to your own critical thinking and choices, choose poorly, and you will die. Your orders can be in whatever format you choose, there are no spending orders to be made or units to build. The question at hand is truly what your character will do to survive in the course of the apocalypse. I greatly encourage creative writing, and you're going to have to be clever to make it through this one alive. For the bare minimum of orders, all I ask is that you answer the dilemma present to you in the form of the update. For this first update, it'll be pretty simple, most local governments will be declaring martial law, and it'll be up to you whether you stay where you are or flee for whatever hills may be nearby. That is the first choice of the NES, and perhaps the most critical. Anything else you put on top of your decision is entirely up to you, there's no real limits except avoid the impossible, i.e., flapping your arms to fly to safety.

Each update will be a week's time chronologically, and in order to avoid real life time being equal to NES time, I hope to go for two updates a week, at the least. Ideally, updates will be on Sunday and Wednesday evenings, so keep that in mind when you're planning on sending or posting orders for the NES.

Any geographic aids you wish to provide for me in your orders would be greatly appreciated, otherwise you'll have to rely upon the accuracy of wikipedia and google maps from my end.

One last thing, I did change the date of the Change, mostly because problem with New Year's is that it would have been during a bunch of parties. May as well not interrupt the celebrations.

Prelude: The Change

You've just got to let me know
Should I stay or should I go?

Antioch, California, United States of America

A little past midnight on March 8th, 2010, the community of Antioch was awoken by the brilliant flash of light which would eventually become known as the Change. As a sleepy suburban community, many of the local population attributed it to unknown phenomenon and soon returned to bed. Several car wrecks took place among the various roads and highways, and local authorities responded the best they were able. Upon awakening the next morning, the locals soon discovered that their vehicles would not function to take them to work in nearby San Francisco or Oakland. Regardless, local businesses opened as usual as the population wandered about, trying to figure out what was going on. An emergency meeting was held by the city government, leading to the mobilization of all reserves by the police and fire departments. Later in the day, the fires which had begun to consume the larger nearby cities began to send their smoke to the sky, and a few battered bicyclists arrived in town, claiming that the disaster may have been worse than anyone in town believed.

Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom

Eight o'clock in the morning on March 8th, 2010, proved to be the bloodiest day in Belfast's brutal history of conflict and violence. The citizens of the community who were not already awake soon were disrupted from their rest by massive explosions from Belfast International and George Best Belfast airports. Planes crashed in takeoff or landing, and the gasoline fuelled fires quickly spread to the terminals, catching many in the great flames. In the morning commute, numerous cars crashed into each other, though the early traffic rush meant mostly just small fender-benders. The fires caused by the failure of modern technology and the lack of working fire engines, soon led to the local emergency response teams being overwhelmed. As the day drew towards its closure, and authorities continued to be overwhelmed, the local members of radical branches of the former Irish Republican Army attacked old rivals, adding human violence to the growing problems. Arson and murder ran rampant as retaliations took place throughout the day. Without guns and British support, the local police were easily overwhelmed by the sectarian violence, leaving many people barricading themselves in their homes as conflict and looting grew in the streets.

Reykjavik, Iceland

As with most major cities at the time of the Change, Reykjavik was interrupted in the morning by explosions at the local airport. Fortunately only two planes were in the air at the time, leading to easily contained fires, which failed to spread to the local terminal. Several car wrecks did take place, but results were minimal. Though the Icelandic population of the community were concerned about the incident, the only result was the deployment of the police reserves and an immediate city council meeting, along with the national government's leaders being called into emergency session, of those which could be located. The government has declared a nation-wide curfew, sending out couriers to establish the status of the other communities of the island. Food stores were closed during the day, as the police were rallied to prevent looting and civil disobedience. By the end of the first day, Reykjavik was one of the few cities in Europe in which order remained at the hands of the government.

Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

As most families were gathered around the television or otherwise engaged in dinner or going to bed, the brilliant flash of white light known as the Change struck Hobart, Australia. With most people home and no nearby airports, the average individual remained unaffected or unaware of the Change and its effects. Though some elderly individuals were killed when their pacemakers failed, no one really knew what to make of the sudden lack of lighting. The local police remained vigilant and several would-be looters were arrested when they attempted to use the cover of darkness to burglarize several businesses. The night passed mostly uneventfully, and most people slept soundly. With dawn the next morning and increasing concern over the situation, it became obvious that the problem may not quickly restore itself. The local government hastily met and various stores were placed under guard, as the authorities attempted to determine what occurred. Several crowds ultimately converged upon the Tasmanian state capital building, and no answer was given, as the governor appealed for calm, promising that all efforts were being made to ascertain the problem.

Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America

In the early morning hours of March 8, 2010, the people of Atlanta were jarred out of bed by the searing light which heralded the Change. The airport soon shattered the immediate silence of modern machinery, as explosions ripped through the night, as numerous planes crashed, and fires spread without any form of control. Fast moving cars and traffic on the local interstates soon resulted in other explosions and chaos along the roads, as the notorious speed of the city's drivers resulted in high speed crashes into several buildings. Downtown Atlanta soon raged in an inferno and chaos as parked cars exploded from the flames, and drowsy but panicked citizens fled in the streets. Civil authority was quickly overwhelmed, as the police were incapable of dealing with the rioting and looting which soon interrupted. Officers who attempted to preserve order were usually murdered by those they were attempting to halt. The suburbs of Atlanta initially escaped unscathed, but as the day progressed, the chaos entered into the surrounding areas around the downtown of the city.

Park City, Utah, United States of America

Park City was fast asleep at the time of the Change, as the people rested easy in the early morning hours of the day. As a quiet community, after the flash of light which was felt all around the world, only the telltale silence of modern machinery marked any difference for the small town. The morning power outage was attributed to many to a small earthquake or perhaps another natural phenomenon, and business continued as usual throughout most of the day. A small crashed plane outside of town did lead some to believe that the problem may have been more severe than otherwise believed, but the city government promised that help would soon be on its way from the outside world.

New York City, New York, United States of America

New York City was arguably the hardest hit urban center in the United States of America in the first few hours of the change. The first casualties were those who became trapped, perhaps indefinitely in the city's innumerable elevators and subway cars, halted by the lack of electricity. Inevitably fires started in numerous apartments and houses, as candles fell and fires became out of control. This was exacerbated by the usual array of car wrecks, and even an unfortunate plane crash into several buildings. Without working modern equipment and proper organization, fire department response was inefficient and unorganized. The fires of the disaster continued to rise and rise, and people fled their homes. Looting began quickly and the New York Police Department was overwhelmed, as the officers found themselves stabbed or beaten to death by street gangs and unruly citizens. Looting quickly rose up throughout the city, and throughout most of the day, the disorderly mob which the city became drowned in a orgy of blood and violence. Refugees fled into the surrounding parts of the countryside, overwhelming other smaller communities, and bringing looting and confusion with them.

Mexico City, Mexico

As the seat of Mexican government and easily the largest city in the country, the Mexican government declared martial law and deployed nearby military units to maintain order throughout the metropolitan area. The lack of viability of guns as a weapon ultimately became obvious to looters and locals gains, and smaller units were overwhelmed by thugs in the various parts of the city. Street gangs took the opportunity to both avenge themselves upon their enemies as well as looting various jewelry stores and malls. As in other countries and cities, the community was plagued by several plane crashes, which left the airport in ruins, and leveled several city blocks before several buildings were demolished by determined citizens. Though some resemblance of order has been maintained where the gangs were unable to overwhelm the military and the government is somewhat functioning, panicked looting of food stores soon led to growing unrest and violence throughout the city.

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Sydney was hard hit by the Change, as five different planes fell short of the International Airport, leading not only to the typical destruction on the tarmac, but massive fires and devastation in the city center. The situation grew worse as the water pumps which fed the city soon ran dry with electricity shutting down, and fires were far too much out of control for any repair. Military forces attempted to preserve order in areas where they were located, but panicking mobs and looters soon overwhelmed their best efforts. The impotency of modern law enforcement quickly became apparent and local gangs and criminals hastily began rampant looting and chaos throughout the community. As March 10th approached, the city continued to burn out of control and the populace remained in a state of frenzied panic.

Columbus, Ohio, United States of America

The light of the Change brought down fiery death upon the city of Columbus, as the city's large amount of airfields and airports soon led to numerous crashes throughout the region. The proportionately small population and emergency services did their best to contain the growing flames, but uncountable thousands likely died asleep as the fires consumed their homes. The devastation grew throughout the day, leaving many dead as the remnants of local civil authority disappeared into the chaos. As in other parts of the United States and the world, local gangs and ordinary civilians, in the initial panic began swarming over local stores, searching for food and other supplies. The average citizen has barricaded himself in his house, loading his guns, as most seem to be unaware of the full extent of the Change.

Smokey Mountains, Alabama, United States of America

The tranquility of the mountain ranges of the southeastern United States proved mostly undisturbed by the onset of the Change. Though some few campers were awoken by the searing white light, many returned to bed after assuring that the situation in their immediate vicinity had not changed. The next morning, the obvious failure of cell phones and vehicles caused further concern, but campers mostly stayed in place in their little section of the wilderness.

Western Maryland, United States of America

Moderator's Note to the Player: I had a devil of a time trying to figure out where "Tri-Towns" is supposed to be, and I proved unsuccessful in my efforts. Therefore, your section is generalized for the whole of western Maryland.

Western Maryland suffered several plane crashes after the change, starting some small brush fires, but urban areas were left fairly untouched by the Change. Despite the awakening of the great white light, many local residents soon returned to sleep, to awaken to the stark reality of the new world the next morning. Local community governments kept a close watch, as the first refugees from the eastern coast of the United States began to arrive. By the closure of the day, it became more and more apparent that what happened may not have been an isolated incident.

Tel Aviv, Israel

Tel Aviv was fortunate to survive the initial onslaught of crashing vehicles that plagued much of the world during the course of the first stage of the Change. Though the fires and smoke from Ben Guron International Airport were eventually seen, the city itself only suffered through several minor car crashes, which produced no initial fatalities. The power outage and failure of modern technology resulted in several deaths scattered through the urban area, and martial law was soon declared by the local military garrison, and police and soldiers were deployed in full riot gear. Without working cars or public transportation, the home commute occurred essentially the same, but slower. When night fell, the true bloodshed began for the Israel city. Islamic agitators used the opportunity to attack the Israeli soldiers, who were unknowningly left weakened with the lack of working firearms caused by the Change. The Islamic leaders discovered this earlier and used it to their advantage, and several Israeli police and military units were overwhelmed. Fires started during the evening from botched civilian efforts to provide lighting as well as civil disorder. Tel Aviv soon became backlit by a series of gruesome urban infernos, while religious violence began to dominate the streets well into the morning of March 9th.

Estacada, Oregon, United States of America

Estacada was small enough not to grasp the whole consequences of the Change in the early hours of the day. While not far from the larger city of Portland, the lack of any overhead planes or significant automotive traffic meant that the rest of the evening passed essentially uneventful. The next morning, upon the discovery of the failure of modern technology, a town meeting led to no cause, though the town government deployed police guards to the local grocery stores and banks. Limited normal business occurred during the day, as most of the population awaited word from the outside world, word which had not yet arrived by the next evening.

Miami, Florida, United States of America

As the fourth largest urban area in the United States, Miami was quick to devolve into the fiery chaos which typified the world's cities during the change. Miami International Airport became a cauldron of flame, as did any surrounding suburbs and businesses, causing a spreading fire which began to consume much of the outskirts, pushing fleeing people into the urban frying pan. Gangs soon overwhelmed any police attempts to maintain order, and South Beach and other wealthy parts of the city were overrun by looters. In a way, Miami was fortunate as only two plane crashes occurred within the metropolitan area, but fires spread out of control throughout much of the day as people tried to flee or embroiled themselves in the erupting gang violence.

World Map

As a word of advice, it'll be hard to actually locate the dots on the map which represent players. My recommendation is to simply use the text location description in the stats post over the map. I'll be simply updating the world map on the first post, until we reach the second phase of the NES.

Nice update, probably should have mentioned that Estacada doesn't have a police force, but instead only has 1 county sheriff patrol around town every day around 1pm-3pm but hey we can change some things to make it more interesting ;).

Story will probably come tomorrow as I'm busy as heck today.

Just warning that the next update will be in 48 hours as previously stated.

Hey,

Ian Franklin Pipers orders sent.

Storyline (All information is subject to change pending Mod update)
Spoiler :
Early on day 2.
The Town council of the town of Luke was called to meeting with open invitation
to the town to attend. The city build was a construction of the 60s Coldwar.
Built to stand as a bastion of freedom & with a full town Fallout shelter.

At the openning 4 council members, the mayor & one Chief of Police, only officer of
the town police force. The 300 pound ass that sat & collected a paycheck. A few
hours later there was a new mayor Mr. Jim Stone. He was the boss of the town
crew & a pasted resident. This gave him the right to be elected. I was then
appointed as the new Chief of Police.

Marshel law was declared & I moved to deputize 5 of my 10 followers. These
would start by setting up roadblocks to the town. The town council now
disbanded was put in charge of new projects.

Informing the town of the change. Moving the elderly to a one of the big old
houses once used by visiting millionares to the lakes in Oakland. One was to
organize the town into a search party into the Huge Pulp & Paper Mill localed
in the town. They would look for any workers taking names & asking information
as to family & job at the Mill. Then they would be shown the way out of town.
A collecting of foodstuffs cans & dry goods in piles of frontrooms for relocation.
Looting will be the death of many to come. 6 horses will be used for this.

The Mill. It was more then that now. It was our start in this krazi world to come.
It had been here for over 100 years. Until about 10 years ago it was a mass
producer & biggest employer with in 100 miles. Now with cheap overseas paper the
plant had been sold & production was reduced & streamlined. Which is good for us.
Machines had been removed creating open space for living or safty. Basically it
was a huge Metal Fortress. Surrounded by 10ft fences topped in angled barbwire.
Guardboxes were localed & every enterance.

Two sides of the Factory sat behind a 20 foot riverwall. The complex also had a
full metalshop, pipeshop, hosipal ward, toolshop & fire department. Across a
railroad bridge over the Potomac was its Lumberyard & charcoal plant. The lumber
stacked & denuded of branches. less then a mile up the rail line was the plants
massive stockpiles of coal. Used to fire the steamboilers that produced the power
for production. It even supplied the lower half of the town with heat.

Note. Mill forges located in Pipeshop & metalshop. Testing the combustion of coal
& the heat. If it is possible weaons maybe able to be made.
There would be lumber enough to Fortify the roads & constructed the walls the will
be needed.

Sorry reader my mind tends to jump sometimes. Plus please for give my poor spelling.
If you don't like it. You can aways stop reading.

It has been a long week. It seems that the world is back to the middle ages.
Early on what I'll call day 3 a few people from the outskits of Baltimore had
managed to pedal their way here. Here being the Blackhawk Tribe Post #131.
Here where the members were the true power of the town of Westernport.
The townworkers, mill employees, council members & the mountianmen.
Coalminers to schoolteachers. Many were veterns. Here I would find the type
of people who would support the ideas I would ask them to adopted. All would
bring ideas to the table. If this was to work they & their family would need to
be involved.

The stories of mass fires, looting & violance reinforced the mindset of most
members of the Blackhawk. It had finally happened. Home & hearth were going
to need to be defended. I pushed this mindset. I would have to work every angle.
As night came & by the light of candles the Blackhawk council was called to
meeting. Over the course of the night plans were layed out. Fought over &
rewrote. The basics. Most basic result was the creation of for lack of a better term.
Militia. Families of these members would relocate to The Mill & Luke for safety.

Families will be required to support the transforming of the Mill to a fortified position.
Those of the age 17 & up would join the Militia. This Militia would be the Law
enforcing body & under direct control of the Chief of Police of the town of Luke.
Westernport would be placed under control of the Blackhawk Militia. Note.
Good thing only one mayor didn't eye to eye.

The Militia would keep law & order in the Tri-Towns, Luke, Westernport & Piedmont.
3 Command posts will be set up. Westernports in the Highschool another building
built for the Coldwar. Full Bomb Shelter. Though not in use for many years. It is
located up away from the valley of the town. High enough to see the eastern
approaches into town.

Roads blocks of cars supported by 24 hour guard. One horse will be use at each for
quick alerts of trouble. A home close to the post would be used as a barracks.
Warning signs listing sickness & plague are to be used. All information from outsiders
is to be brought to a centralized command post for gaining a better view of what is
happening. Deadly force can be used.

The confiscation of weapons would be enforced. This would be trouble. But many
of those with weapons worth anything will already be in the BlackHawk.

The confiscation of a Typeset printing press from a small printers shop in Piedmont.
The printing of a the Law & projects. Propaganda calling for support in defending
the Towns. Note. The Mill is not to be used except in dire emergencies.

Using the records from the city halls all livestock was located & would be confiscated.
Put underguard in fields closer located closer to Luke.

Churches will be visited on this 1st Sunday & preachers asked to meet with the Blackhawk
Council. Preachers can play a big part in any adventure. Note. Beware the fanatic.

Tentative plans for Forger groups. Sending Militia to surrounding towns to get information.
Scouting mission to Cumberland. I figure there is trouble there but with a Engineering group
stationed there its under Army Control. We must make contact with them. A mission to
invite Keyser into the defense. Word has that lack of police has Keyser on edge.

A special mission planned for contacting the backwoods families. A most have support.

Day 5
Planned raids on the Potomac State University's Library & livestock farms. This was a must.
I will personally carry out one of the raids. I had gone to school there & worked on those
damn farms. Traveled the backroads & rode the rails to them. Dad would be proud.
I figure I'll be seeing him soon. He was born for this type of world. I wonder how he
knew what to teach me growing up.

I hope this is the way to do it.

Make my way north along state highway 189 until we get to echo utah. (Just looking at google maps.)It seems pretty far so I don't think I need to explain where from there.
stop at any abandoned houses or cars or buildings and look for supplies, food, warm clothes, etc. Walk about 5-10 miles a day, have the adults carry the 2 kids.. try to help anyone who needs it, injured people, a few elderly, alone children. (elderly and more injured people less, slows us down.)

"Dammit Benedikt, it isn't going to work no matter how many times you try it. Nothing works." Adam pleaded with the captain, "We're going to have to find another way."

Captain Benedikt Margeir pounded on the hull of the boat and let out a long sigh. Slowly, he gave his response. "And, what other way are you proposing? Swim out there with our own arms and legs?"

Adam Kucinich was a typical sailor boy. He had elected not to enroll in University, and instead follow the footsteps of the great Icelandic fishermen heroes. His experience was limited, but he knew his way around. His dad and the captain had long been friends, and as thus he got an easy ride to a place on one of the prime Icelandic fishing ships at the harbor of Reykjavik. Nevertheless, he knew his place in front of the captain, especially when things weren't going so well.

"There's, um, gotta be some wooden canoes or something in storage. It's not like anyone would be stupid enough to rent one of them on a day like this."

Another one of the younger sailors normally under the command of Benedikt, Gragir, decided it would be an appropriate time to butt in, "Heh, you never know. Lotta fucking psychos on this island."

Benedikt shook his head, staring down, "Never mind that. How the hell do you expect to get three miles off the coast in a damn canoe?"

Adam replied hastily, "Well it's the best option we've got. Besides, I'm a well-trained sailor. I can handle it! If we don't get out there soon Einar and the others are as good as dead!"

After a few seconds of contemplation, Benedikt nodded, "Alright, you and Gragir take some canoes and get out there. If anything goes wrong...god bless ye. You mine as well bring a third person who's up to the task."

"Aye cap'n."

Benedikt continued, "Also, I want you and, presuming all three are alive, the guys you rescue to meet us back at the mess hall. Me, my wife, and Adam's parents'll be staying there in one of the rooms. We've got a greater, more ready supply of food, and strength in numbers. Even though things seem to be under control, I don't exactly trust the people of Reykjavik to be anythin' less than a band of unruly savages in a time like this, if you catch my drift."

Gragir smirked at this, "I gotcha cap'n."

"God be with ye." The captain remarked, sending them off to save the lives of the trapped sailors.

Orders:

Spoiler :

Benedikt Margeir: Civver_764
Nationality: Icelandic
Pre-Change Occupation: Head captain of a large fishing ship
Location: In the suburbs/outskirts of Reykjavík
Followers: 10
Food: 10
Survival Skills: 4
Organizational Skills: 2
Scientific Adaptation: 1
Archaic Knowledge: 1

The followers of Benedikt are as follows(lol):

-Benedikt Margeir, captain of a fishing boat and a pretty cool guy.
-Anna Margeir, Benedikt's wife.
-Adam Kucinich, one of the lower ranked sailors on Benedikt's main fishing ships.
-Gragir Eydis, same as Adam
-Jakob and Karen Kucinich, Adam's parents
-Eir Leifur, another sailor boy who is trapped out at sea 3 miles off the coast after his boat broke down. He's been stranded at sea for over 24 hours now.
-Magnus Sigmundur and Oskar Steinn, stranded at sea with Eir.
-Baldvin Eysteinn, goes with Adam and Gragir to rescue Eir and the crew.

All ten of them will be staying together in one of the mess halls near the atlantic coast in the city of Reykjavik. It should be fairly uninhabited with people not wanting much business there due to the change.

Over the course of the week an "ambassador" will be chosen from amongst the followers to receive regular reports from the city hall in Reykjavik and the government there. Once it becomes clear that this is no short power outage, Benedikt will offer him and his followers to man a large, engine-less Galleon to get in contact with those in Europe to find out what is going on. Wood from the surrounding forests will provide lumber for this ship(which will be placed in the hands of government engineers), and also to construct small fishing boats so as to keep the food supply steady.

I think I'll come up with a story shortly. Until that time, my orders are to have my followers scavenge what they can using the salvaged military supplies to do so by force if necessary.

:crazyeye: *waits for story inspiration*

Here's my first story: btw I apologize In advance for any typos I'm on an iPod touch it ain't easy!

____________
Timothy woke up at 6 am Mountain Time to call his wife to tell her he'd see her later today as his flight back home was later that day. He woke and swore it freezing, he went to go turn on the light but nothing happened he cursed and said "Dammit! The powers out!" He then decided he'd better call his wife to warn her that their flight may be canceled. He picked up his cell phone and held the end button to turn it on, after waiting for what seemed like forever and it didn't turn on.. So he thought his battery was out but he remmbered plugging it in and charging it, he always forgot those things so maybe he did forget. after thinking about it for a few minutes he decided he'd better go to sleep and stop worrying about a routine power outage... Boy was he wrong

This'd be the 24 hour warning
