In SMAC you can ask a faction to cease war with another faction. Also you don't start war automatically with anyone who is fighting your pact brothers. You declare it manually.

Why is that missing in Civ3?!

In my current game, MMPs lead to 100+ years of world war:

Situation:
France (me), Greece, Germany, Japan, India on huge island.
Russia on a small one. English on another small one.

Russia has MMP with English.

I declared war on India, who does not respect my borders. I signed MMP with Japan, and Military Alliance (MA) with Greece, Germany and Japan against India.

20 turns passed and Greece and Germany made peace with India. I thought "okay, 2 civs out of war, no big deal".

I was wrong. India signed MA with Greece and Germany against *Japan*.

Since I had MMP with Japan, I was forced to war with 3 civs. Greece and Germany was kicked off planet. Originally I intended to keep them alive, as buffer between me and India.

Then India signed MA with English and Russia against *Japan*.

I was able to bribe English to fight on my side. So now I am fighting India on land, and building bombers and carriers to bomb the *%&^$# out of Russia.

It's very intelligent of India to sign MA against Japan, not me. I was too strong for other civs.... OTHO Japan was very weak (my little pet civ).

I think I should have a choice to ask other civs to cease war with Japan, and I should be able to choose to declare war or not with those who declared war on Japan --- as in real world.

I think this should be included in the next patch.

Your opinion?

this one`s been kicked around since original release, and it stays one of the most important things that need a fix..... :(
