39. Shaka/Zulu 4 [7-3] Say the Zulu are good at diplomatic victory because they can eliminate the other races until there is only one opponent left is like saying the Zulu are the best at science, culture and religion as well because they eliminated all competition. I find it hard to believe that this got upvoted twice other than to try and counter my vote.

1. Alexander/Macedon [5] (8-3) Macedon is fueled by constant or near-constant conflict. This is the antithesis of diplomacy.
2. Amanitore/Nubia [20]
3. Catherine/France [22]
4. Chandragupta/India [11]
5. Cleopatra/Egypt [23] (22+1) Previous poster noted that Egypt is surprisingly good for DV. I am playing Egypt now on my second GS game. Cranked disasters up to 4 and enjoying the floods. Extra alliance points and spiced up trade routes too. So, I concur with the person who suggested Egypt.

42. Tomyris/Scythia [17]
43. Trajan/Rome [20]
44. Victoria/England [8]
45. Wilfrid Laurier/Canada [23] (22+1) Not likely to fight in many wars, gets extra favor from tourism and emergencies, and may choose to settle lands noone else wants rather than forward settling neighbors.
46. Wilhemina/Netherlands [20]

1. Alexander/Macedon [5]

22. Kupe/Maori [21]
23. Lautaro/Mapuche [14]
24. Mansa Musa/Mali [23] 22 + 1 A strong faith and trade/gold economy allows you to satisfy pretty much every city state quest that comes your way. You can also buy additional favor from your rivals.

39. Shaka/Zulu [0] Eliminated (1-3) Yeah so this could be a domination victory elimination thread in disguise and killing everyone bar one so you win DV is probably the best strategy for winning it. I don't think that's the spirit of this thread though. So I'm going to vote as if I'm role playing a peaceful DV strategy. Feel free to disagree. Getting rid of a warmonger though.

Well the end result of this thread won't be very surprising but let's have fun

1. Alexander/Macedon [5]
2. Amanitore/Nubia [17]
3. Catherine/France [22]
4. Chandragupta/India [11]
5. Cleopatra/Egypt [23]
6. Cyrus/Persia [17]
7. Dido/Phoenicia [21] (20 + 1) From personal experience (I heavily favor playing for Diplomatic Victory), settling everywhere means you are readily available to protect city states from aggressive AI without having to resort to exploits as well as access to convenient alliances with all those trade routes without gimping your empire. Also massive gold income, like Mali, means you can fulfill any and all requests while draining other civs of their DF.
8. Eleanor/France [20]

27. Mvemba a Nzinga/Kongo [14] (17-3) - I'll double on @Lily_Lancer vote. The inability to get a religion is definitely a huge weakness for DP, because of the Mahabodhi Temple. You're basically starting with a 2 diplo points penalty, turning Kongo into the worse Civ for DP by far. Kongo is a powerful Civ that would do well otherwise.

41. Teddy Roosevelt/America [25] (24+1) - Has the most reliable source of favors. It's also one of the only two Civs with an ability that give favors per turn directly, without the need to suzerain city-states or level up alliances.

28. Pachacuti/Inca [20]
29. Pedro/Brazil [17]
30. Pericles/Greece [25] 24+1. Perhaps best for diplomatic victory, rivaling only Kristina. Acropolis will give you a head start on city-state suzerainty, while it adds more culture to your civ, and culture = more envoys. The extra wildcard policy slot is good for any type of victory. Everything works perfectly fine here.

37. Seondeok/Korea [15] [14+1] I am fully aware that neither Korea nor Seondeok provide any bonuses towards a diplomatic victory, but I don't think they should go out this early, especially with other warmongering civs (Aztec, Persia, Mongolia, Chandragupta) still on the list.

1. Alexander/Macedon [ELIMINATED] Yes, you can conquer half the world and bully the rest for a cheap Diplomatic Victory, but if it is that easy, you can probably win any victory condition with relative ease. Macedon, the Aztecs, Norway, Scythia and others all are so narrowly focused they can only be upvoted in a Domination victory elimination thread.

27. Mvemba a Nzinga/Kongo [6] (5+1) Not really buying the fact that you can't build Mahabodhi as Kongo is enough to vote him out before all the warmongerers, especially considering as Kongo you'll avoid ALL religion-based grievances (which in my experience seems to be one of the biggest sources of grievances outside of warmongering) and the fact that you can't exactly count on getting these wonders on higher difficulty levels anyways. This isn't the deal breaker I think some of you are making it out to be, especially since jumping out to that early DV point lead just screams "please vote to take my points away" to the AI.

Come on guys, really? What puts you at a bigger disadvantage: not having the 2 DV points from Mahabodhi, or not ever having enough favor to win any DV points through a vote because you've racked up so many grievances through warmongering? Let's not overthink this just to try to throw some shocker result into the mix. Besides, if you're playing as one of those warmongerers you're probably not focusing on founding a religion either, so you're not getting Mahabodhi Temple anyways.

I do agree that Mahabodhi will have an impact on our results... but not this early and not when there are so many grievance-hoarders left on the board. I look at Mahabodhi as being a way to separate those who on the surface seem to be on equal ground. For example, someone said Hojo is a warmongerer, and that may be true... but he's got an easier route towards founding a religion and building Mahabodhi, so IMO he should stick around longer than other warmongerers like Genghis and Harald who don't.
