DisNES II "A Twist of Fate"

OOC: das, I just want to let you know, defeat and fear are not in my lexicon. I was willing to let things go. But no. Now I will not stop until I have bled out every last drop of Turk blood and turned the Black Sea into the world's blood bank. Even if in the end I do not triumph, there will be nothing left for you to rule either. Welcome to your own personal Afghanistan. Revel in the carnage, for I know I will.

Are you sure that was supposed to be OOC? :p In any case, I am not intimidated. We have withstood far ruder death threats. ;) As for Afghanistan, its way overrated. Only a few people failed to conquer it - far more often than not, it was ran over with surprising ease. So, thanks for the promise but I'd rather have a real fight. ;)

Also, what's all this about "I was willing to let things go"?

moves his capital north to the recently recaptured Kiev

Something is wrong with this sentance. ;)

Christiania? Unless GM renamed it...

Anyway, good update. Am very pleasantly surprised with Azale's actions - most players, especially the self-declared Confucianists ;) , tend to foster commerce and introduce reforms. Admittedly, that's what would've gone comparatively well with the populace in Nan Ming, but meh, this is just as good. Also interesting is the fact that the colonial age was put further on hold in favour of destructive wars at home.

And very epic wars they are, too. Very good read. Also, Turkey attacking Russia just as it begins to gain an upper hand over its enemies is becoming a proud DisNES tradition.

EDIT:

The Russian Church was never involved in politics, and scourned the idea of a "religious war" and crusades.

The Russian Church, in this world even moreso than in OTL, does as ordered. ;) Plus here its a pretty different church - far more fanatical than in OTL due to a different religious history.

Hey! Commerce and reforms are good, azale's Emperor just too nearsighted, blame all those inbreeding in the Ming Dynasty... :p I mean, I heard a rumor that Japan will be given a free hand in America and recognized Japanese rule too

P.S. Красная площадь and Новая Проспект will be quite pleasant compared to what will happen to you.

Naturally, the Russian Orthodox Church - now united under the Patriarch of Kiev as opposed to the Muscovite one - blessed all and any actions taken by the tsars.

The Russian church is completely subserviant to the Tsar in the ATL...now weither thats enough to declare a holy war, or merely strongly urge the faithful to rise up, is something I'll need to consider. Not least because the one person can say for sure has a vested interest in the answer ;)

Новая Проспект

Новый Проспект. Oh my god, how scary and intimidating a "new perspective" sounds! :p

Not least because the one person can say for sure has a vested interest in the answer

That person has already said for sure. Religious wars are fun, this world hadn't had too many of those so it deserves a compensation now. ;)

Given what's happened to everyone else who's defied his will for the past three updates, the answer to that one is not hard to guess.

Daffodils and butterflies, now those are scary. Remember, the best creepy and evil things are the ones that don't seem creepy or evil at all.

@alex, reforms and colonization are hard with hordes of pirates :p I find the pirates more of a foe than you at the moment...

We are sorry we were unable to aid you in any way this turn, but we were given an excellent oppurtunity to rid the world of these mongols once and for all and could not miss such a great chance.

You filthy dogs, how dare you invade the great land of China! Damn you all, damn you all to hell!

*secret* Excellent work. A bit of propoganda never hurts, I'm sure you understand ;)

From: Nan Ming Empire
To: Populace of Mongol Qing State

For too long we have let you be under the power of these mongols, only now have we been able to grasp enough power to overthrow them! Still, one cannot deny thier barbaric-like fighting capabilities. Revolt! Rise up and destroy the foriegners who attempt to rule Chinese lands forever!

Oh pish posh, they are close enough. And were the last foriegn dynasty to rule China, so poo, they are mongols now :p If you dont like that, then add an r after the g and replace the second o with an e.

We completely understand, it was a great victory and the Thai people wish you many more victories. However, our current position is tenuous at best and desperate action* will have to be taken if we cannot count on Chinese aid soon. If you cannot, we again understand. Chinese issues take precedence over foreign ones. We eagerly await your reply.

*Note that we do not mean desperate action against the Chinese.

Ouch. That must have hurt.

Whats the new offer?

From the Dai Viet
To King Mom Pi

If you are so willing to give up your territories why do you not simply give us and other parties back the lands you have annexed and sign peace? We are honestly puzzled by your actions. We never wished for your destruction fool.

From The Bengals
To King Mom Pi

We are hurt, but you are hardly better off; We are willing to concede you the south of mandalay province, including the city cluster if you acknowlegde the freedom of the Arakan Prince. And we will only retreat if you call off your Gujarati dogs.

OOC: Ah, the refreshingly bitter taste of an unparalleled failure. Here is some of what I was originally gonna post, but I figured I'd see what was up with China and Bengal. As it is...

To the Kingdom of Dai Viet
From King Mom Pi of Ayutthaya

We offer a new border along the Mekong River in return for aid against our northern rebels. We will grant our half of the rebellion a large degree of autonomy in return for laying down their arms and returning to the fold. The half on your side of the river will be given to your kingdom. As previously stated, the Arakan rebels have broken peace with us. We have agreements that keep us involved in that area and cannot trust them to leave us at peace.

To the Bengalis
From the Ayutthaya

The freedom of the Arakan prince cannot be ensured under the current circumstances. I will need to discuss things with him before this mess can be resolved. We will discuss things with our Gujurati allies and if this is agreeable with them, we will resolve to accept the offer.

To the Arakan Rebels
From the Ayutthaya

For the moment, you are in a position of relative power. We are willing to discuss peace with you. What do you have in mind?

OOC: So many people to kill... So many people to kill...

Unparalled? Hardly I think your overrating yourself here ;). Needless to say you didn't do that badly, and your diplomacy was top notch - being attacked from 5 directions would have been troublesome for nearly every player ;).

We will have to consult with our White Malay allies, we will not broker a peace without their satisfaction. However your terms are more than enough to satisify us, though we assume you are returning our lands on the delta to us as well (current gains)?

Yes, many have done far worse as a matter of fact.

OOC: A) I like the word unparalleled, B) Unparalleled for me, I've read of much worse falls from much higher places. Thanks though :)

There has been enough senseless bloodshed. Let us turn from fighting each other and focus on the pirates that have plagued our people. What say you?

We hope to provide a refuge for you from the ravages of war. We offer you asylum until your peoples decide where they would like to settle. We also offer Thai citizenship, though we by no means demand it.

The wars that have recently ravaged our lands, combined with the increasing threat of the pirate raiders, have caused untold hardship on the people. And is it not our duty to protect our people? We propose steps be taken towards a peaceful, prosperous Southeast Asian unity, that we may stand together against our common enemies. Let us stop this internal warfare and look outwards.

SUDAFRIKA!

Oh wait, I lost that.

I had to fight off only three - maximum four - enemies, most of which were utterly incompetent. :p :p ;) So it doesn't really count. My Mongol Empire in Amenhotep's NES is better; I held out against improbable odds and only lost Pakistan (even that I recovered later on), though in the process my entire core territories were devastated and the situation was made ripe for a revolution.

Really the best example is silver2039, he tends to scare all his neighbours into allying against him and ultimately killing him altogether, though often enough with sheer numbers - both their own and those of anti-silverite rebels crying for his incarnation's blood.

Considering that LittleBoots is far from defeated and has the chances of getting away with some gains - or even reversing the whole thing if his allies press on - I'd say he's doing quite well, for a newbie especially.

OOC: I'm starting to think he's another nes incarnate trying to hide his identity to catch unsuspecting players :p
