Disney buy Lucasfilm, Episode VII for 2015

I'm actually excited for this change personally. I'm hoping that Disney will do for Star Wars what they did for the Marvel cinematic universe. This could work, people! :p

 Terrifying prospect.

one word: crossover
More words: Old Republic Sith against Justice League, Iron Man against Darth Vader... sigh

Actually, I was thinking how great a Smash Bros style game Disney could make:

Mickey Mouse
Donald Duck
Han Solo
Wolverine
Jack Sparrow
Shrek
Pooh

They have a lot of great characters to make a game out of.

I don't always get the hate all the newer Star Wars movies get. Even if they're bad, they don't make the older ones any worse, do they? Anyway, I guess the bitstorm was, and still is, inevitable.

That being said, there's no way VII can be as groundbreaking as the first movies, but it could turn out to be an entertaining movie IMO.

Latest rumor: Lawrence Kasdann to be involved as a writer in ep. VIII-IX, and as a producer overall.

That's a good sign. To those of you too lazy to look him up, that's the same guy who wrote Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and Raiders of the Lost Ark, as well as a number of other well-received movies.

So the guy who wrote Ewoks
:mischief:

I'd bet my skin that the Ewoks were Lucas' fault. It totally reeks of his work, just like the greaser monkeys from Crystal Skulls.

Hey, compared to Jar Jar, meesa thinks da Ewoks were tolerable.

Not really. Jar Jar was awful, but the Ewoks were little teddy bears who used flint spears, rocks, and bows to defeat an entire legion of stormtroopers. It was ridiculous.

*lapidates*

That said wookieepedia indicate that having primitive people defeat the empire was indeed GL's idea.

Although the drama surrounding the ewoks get overplayed a great deal by Empire fanboys IMO. As CIV has long since taught us :

:spear:

Of course they were originally intended to be big hairy monsters (Wookies) not little teddy bears.

That would have been a huge improvement, yes.

Even so, you have to admit the Ewoks were resourceful little buggers. :p

Yeah, and it was cool to see them win, at least as a kid.

Then again, I never minded spearmen beat tank as a game mechanism.

So J. J. Abrams is directing Episode 7. Could work...I was really hoping for Brad Bird, though.

I liked Abrams Star Trek... inb4 a horde of trekkies reduces my being into a pile of shredded clothes and tissues.

Or Microsoft's becoming Apple's :mischief:
