Anyone else having display issues after downloading the australia update? All of a sudden the screen is very grainy in some parts, and literally the only thing that changed was I downloaded the new update. It's not an issue with my computer (no other display problems, and like I said the only thing that changed was the new update). The graphics options in game were all maxed out (as they were before the update). I also deactivated all mods, and returned all original art files etc. back to the root folders. I've searched around online and have not seen any others reporting this issue...

I have no idea what could be causing this graininess. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

At least I can say you're not the only one with that kind of problem, in the German civforums some have that issue as well. Other than recommending a driver update I have no ideas though.

Do you happen to remember where exactly you saw that? I've been going round and round with 2K support and they say they haven't seen any other reports of this issue... Thanks!

Got the problem as well. Well, the laptop I'm using is not exactly top-notch when it comes to graphics, but things did display fine before the Australia update. The Spring patch didn't fix it too. Were there any solutions, or ideas what causes it?

Sort of. Went round and round with 2K support. They ended up saying I just needed a better graphics card. Didn't make sense to me since it was the same gameplay issues that worked fine pre update and then screwed up post update. But they gave some crap excuse about how their minimum requirements are written higher than that is required for the initial release but that they expect to get up to those specs after updates. So basically even though it was fine before that was because the game wasn't utilizing those technical specs. So, get a new graphics card. That is not an option for me unfortunately. So no game playing for now.

As similar thing happened when Paradox released the first expansion for Hearts of Iron 4 -- in that case, the expansion eliminated any ability of Windows Vista users to play the game. Vista was never officially supported, but you could play vanilla HOI4 (to some extent) under Vista, but no longer after the first x-pac.

Well, ok. I'm not complaining too much though. The game is still playable, and it seems that these graphic issues actually made it work faster than pre-update :D

Ok, looks like I fixed it.

What I did was updating the graphics driver, but in a brutal way.

I had to uninstall the driver which came with my laptop (apparently it was some sort of 'adapted' version, which wouldn't just go and update itself from Intel, saying it was the latest version instead), and manually install the latest 'generic' driver from Intel (I have Intel graphics, as you might have already figured out). Now those parts that were showing as grainy are normal again.

So, if your computer was pre-build and had stuff pre-installed, this might be something to try.

The idea is:

1) Uninstall the graphics driver you have;
2) Install one from the graphics card manufacturer.

Of course, back everything up, do at your own risk, may cause issues, I take no responsibility :D
