We have no quarrel with the peaceful Polynesian people, unless, of course, you help our enemies. We will know if you make this loan. Remember, Nebbuchandezzar has stated he must have or destroy any city within twelve leagues of Babylon--how many of your cities does this include? Is this someone you can trust?

Pachacuti fights only to defend his honour. You have not settled our lands, nor threatened us with wholesale annihilation if we do not capitulate to unreasonable demands. So far, all we have seen from you is respect. :goodjob: Pachacuti wants nothing more than this.

Our continent is packed. West is occupied by danish, south by the spanish. There might be room in North Korea but are you willing to risk it?

At least the Babylon has honoured the part that he did not attack Inca when Pachucuti waged a 'limited' war against the English. Now see what we got: steamrolled. Not to mention we also agreed that the Inca can settle closer to our capital in hope that the Inca will be satisfied, and now the capital is in immediate danger.

It's a gamble that the Polynesia had to take, please state your demand, and we will fulfill it as soon as the situation gets better.

Seems to have a bit of action over there...

On our side it's pretty calm. ''We can hear a fly fly''(what is the idea in english to call a fly the same word as the verb fly? :crazyeye::confused: French expression : ''On peut entendre une mouche(fly) voler(fly)''...it means that it's pretty quiet)

We can hear a fly flies:lol: different words. Or flies fly

Anyway, back on topic:

Plea for help

Talking about investment that has 200% return or more.....:cringe:

When we discussed you not taking sides, I was planning a full scale war against the English. It was your threats that led us to see where the real risk lay. You made your own definition of limited, but we are no fools: take one low production city from the English, and leave them their capital to come back later with longbows and ships of the line? Nonsense. If you're going to make an enemy, make sure they're a broken enemy.

You let us settle there because it suited your own plans: stay small, build NC and IW, second city with observatory. Perhaps conquer us later? Why else allow settlement within your 12 league ring of nuclear terror? In any case, not competing for the area (and notice we did not attempt to take the cow or iron right on the border) was heavily overshadowed by your stated intention to take that city and our capital, and divide the rest with England. The trust and cooperation could have been built on, instead of resorting to genocidal threats.

What is the meaning of mouche, if it doesn't describe what a fly does? Is it like bug?

Is it not intuitive that you name something in terms of what defines it? A fly, flies. And the reason why the phrase you used is French and not universal (at least not in English) is because it would sound stupid in English (because of fly fly).

Instead we would say you could "hear a pin drop".

No, it would be "hear a fly fly". Because the action verb is hear. If you were talking about the flying, then it would be "A fly flies." It would be "flies fly" in the plural regardless of which verb was the action of the sentence.

About your offer. Naturally, I am not sure what to do. Your investment opportunity has a nice return, unless of course you win the war. Because then I lose, as you will probably return to outteching. If you lose the war despite my assistance, I am next on the chopping block (according to Onan's threat)

If I do not assist, Onan has said that he will not harm me, though I am sure it is probably in his best interest to wipe me from the continent as well. On the other hand, from what I have heard, if I do not assist you will surely fall, only making the Inca STRONGER. Then they will have BOTH your empires. Scary.

As I stated previously, the best option is obviously to give the losing side JUST enough assistance to stalemate you both so that *I* can pull ahead. And I have no concrete proof of who the losing side is. I will send over a scout next turn, and see what needs to be done.

Good luck to you both! :)

Edit: Furthermore, I am not sure if I even HAVE 200g. I will check.

A reasonable fellow, I like that.

Our main goal at present is to capture Babylon, which is the engine of the techmonster civ. Once this is done, and any further resistance has been put down, our people deserve a long period of rest and peaceful growth. Entering into a third war against a peaceful, respectful neighbour would serve no purpose, but to leave our continent a smoking ruin, ready to be rebuilt by whatever advanced civ arrives from foreign shores. There is enough room between us to live in peace and cooperate for the mutual benefit of both our peoples. If that means you gain some former Babylonian lands, so be it!

Send your scout, make your own assessment of the risks and rewards, as anyone should. Pachacuti sends his respects.

I don't think I've seen Walls of Babylon before. Do they look different?

Never built it before, but 6 combat strength is hardly a UB than normal 4 Combat strength wall. Maybe it can help against melee attack.

But the extra HP, that's what I'm worried about. :(

They are bluish. And they also make the city "do more ranged combat damage", though I thought all walls did. Read the civilopedia article, it actually says it makes the city do more damage, while normal walls don't specifically state it.

Nebby would like to make the last diplomatic attempt before he is captured by the evil Inca.

We will trade all our remaining cities for 400 cash from Polynesia. We can make one-off deal by gifting all the cities at once, or we can gift each city once the building in that city finishes (1-6 turns). We will top up the deal later by gifting an unsettled city if polynesians are happy to accept.

The deal will make sure we survive the Inca sneak attack, but not having enough production to pose any danger to either Inca or Polynesia afterwards. Babylon capital is the only purpose to defend in this game.
