DMI VII - Team Vanilla

I have a very slight preference for 1S simply for the River connection and extra river squares in our BFC but would be very relaxed about settling in place (Yes Ozbenno I am passing the buck) cant see anywhere else I would settle though.

Tech path sounds good.

Plenty to keep our worker busy with rice + mines and keeps the focus on the COL Slingshot.

Build Worker, Warrior, Warrior, Settler ??

Options are settle in place (my preference), settle 1S or settle somewhere else.
I'm Ok with either in place or 1S. Don't really see a big reason to go wandering off, though.

Agriculture (for rice), Animal Husbandry (for horses) and Bronze Working (for copper) and then to Priesthood (for Oracle) and then to Writing (for Code of Laws)?
Looks good! Although, I'd probably delay AH for a bit. Possibly until after Writing, but at least after BW.

We may need to slot another Scout into the mix, as well. Kinda depends on what the first one uncovers (or doesn't).

Yes mine have a habit of uncovering Bears which usually leads to the need to build another one!

Settle 1S and build a scout while growing to size two. Then worker-> 1-2 warriors-> settler.

Well after staring at the map for a while, it seems that there is a slight preference in the team for 1S rather than on the spot, so that's what we do.

Not the best spot I've ever seen it must be said but 6 hills will churn out them cossacks, if we can just get the research done :mischief:.

Research on Agriculture and building a scout. There's a hut down south so I head the scout towards that.

It gives me a map that shows the jungle isn't far to our south and another hut to the SE so head that way. It also has a map that shows us lots of sea.

Another hut saves us 3 turns on Agriculture :goodjob:

I start us on Bronze Working.

Luckily I started building a scout as my first one gets eaten by a lion.

When he finishes we're 4 turns short of size 3 in capital so delay worker until we hit 3.

The second scout has better lion taming abilities.

I played 21 turns to get to the end of Bronze Working. Here are our choices.

I think AH would be good as we need to know where the horsies are. The other choice would be to go Wheel --> Pottery.

Worker completes in 5 turns and scout should recover from his lion altercation in 1. We may as well complete the warrior afterwards and then a settler maybe (or grow to 4 first and then settler).

Here's the world as we know it.

There is nowhere really great that jumps out as a second city site I must admit, its all a bit resourceless. Maybe the corn/copper but certainly no research city or GP farm. Anyone want to try some dotmapping?

Haven't met any of the neighbours so we may be isolated (maybe an island) but with the scout getting eaten the scouting hasn't been that great.

Ralph is UP. He can play either 19 to get us back to an even number of turns or play a bit more or less if there is a logical stopping point for discussion. I just used the same roster as the last game and addes tuge at the back end. When are you unavailable stuge? Do we need to bump you up the roster?

Yeah, the copper/corn site looks good. Can't really tell from the pic, but what about the pigs/rice/sugar down south? Could a city pick up all three? Might make a good GP farm. And the corn and cows look to be a good coastal city for Ralph's navy. :p

Techwise, I prefer to head towards Priesthood next.

The pig/rice/sugar is in the jungle but one city can pick up all three. Definately would be good as a later city.

As for Priesthood, we need to get a settler out before starting on The Oracle, so if the turns for both Priesthood and settler are equivalent, it might be best.

Ok this is my got it.

Thoughts posted later.

The roster spot is good. I have only one week left in school and I'll have no time restrictions after that, until the end of January.

Well thoughts / Plans.. Views Welcome

1. Get the Slavery revolt done with straight away.
2. I probably won’t whip the worker as it is half built. saving the pop for a 2 person settler whip later.
3. Worker will obviously farm the rice after that I prefer the grassland hills first for mines as although 1 :hammers: less than the plains hill they will help the city grow. We will mine both anyway so only a small difference. I see no point in looking at farms as we will probably cottage the river grassland squares later.
4. Build Order, Worker, warrior, warrior till size 4 (May finish in time but cant do the calculation after work!!), Settler 2 pop whip who is destined to seize copper
5. The first warrior can finish scouting the copper site as still some fog and no obvious “settle on this spot” from what I can see.
6. Research. I think I will start down priesthood straight away as opening Oracle early lets us build it in copper town if we decide to keep capital’s gene pool pure for scientists once we have our civil service prophet.. Unless the team disagrees I will go down the slightly more expensive Polytheism route as its needed for Literature and the AI can be reluctant to trade it if they are building Parthenon.
7. Scout will well scout and try to avoid bears!!

Will play and report tomorrow stopping at a natural break point and not worrying too much about an even number of turns

So :smoke: detection gratefully received

Ralph

p.s Ozbenno some of your screenies weren't loading up for me. Didn't matter as I just looked at the game but

I can see the logic for a second prophet at some point but not sure we want to delay the first scientist(s) for it as the shrine income will be quite low for a while and we will want to bulb philosophy and half of education....

A minor suggestion ... If you're not going to :whipped: the Worker, then I'd suggest holding the revolt until after the Worker is completed. That way the Worker is at least being productive during the anarchy period. Otherwise, it all looks good ...

And Ozbenno's lion! :p
