Kuchiki glanced at K'inich out of the corner of one eye, head cocked to one side and cheek resting upon an elevated hand, her elbow on the desk. The Chancellor was sitting up straight in his chair, twiddling a pen in one hand but apparently paying rapt attention to the presentation. She could not verify the truth of such surface appearances however, as he was situated such that the light shone off the silver rims of his glasses and the glass itself; for all she knew he may have just been staring off into space. But he seemed interested. She shifted her eyes back front and center, toward the whirring projector and the images it splashed across the white screen, its hum providing a suiting backdrop to the droning of the Army Intelligence Officer who was giving the presentation. She was astonished both that the Chancellor was, for once, actually sitting in on a military briefing, and that for the first time that she could recall, she did not know the full content of briefing before walking in the door, and it was still boring. It was decidedly the fault of the Intelligence Officer. He was presenting interesting facts, but in a very dull way. She forced herself to tune back into the sound of his voice and make sense of the words, using the slide as a focus for her attention to draw herself back into the dry presentation, a new one clicking into place right as she resumed paying attention.
"--finally, the last vehicle based on the new Jaguar chassis is the Cakulha Artillery Platform," continued the officer. He used his pointer to demonstrate at the image "This particular prototype is seen undergoing live-fire exercises in the Chibirias Testing Range."
"The platform retains all the mobility the Jaguar chassis affords, and as a result can keep pace with the Cabrakan, Cabaguil, and Coyopa platforms mentioned earlier.
"In terms of performance, the gun is a 155mm rifled cannon with an effective range of approximately 12,500m, and is technically classified as a howitzer due to its ability to fire shots at high ballistic trajectories to have them land on top of targets.
"It also mounts the standard minimum of one 7.62mm machine gun in a forward-facing, hull-mounted housing for self-defense."
The officer clicked the slide button again, and the projector whirred, the image going to blank white in the darkened room, before a new image took its place.
"This," gestured the officer, "is the Camaxtli Tank, the first vehicle to utilize the newly developed Panther chassis; this particular one is also seen undergoing field testing at Chibirias."
Kuchiki leaned forward a little, staring at it. She didn't notice K'inich and the others assembled doing the same. The previous vehicles had all been quite large in their own rights, each standing well higher than a single man, but this vehicle was definitely big, although its size did not seem vertically exaggerated. It also looked very heavily armed.
The officer sipped at the glass of water he had handy, before nodding at the screen "This tank utilizes the lessons learned with the Jaguar chassis with regard to drive-train, internalizing and armoring the gear assemblies to make it more difficult to disable them.
"Combined with refinements in armor technology, this tank is a match for virtually any other in the world in terms of survivability, while boasting higher than average maneuverability, range, and speed.
"As I'm sure you've all noticed, however, its main feature is firepower; the Camaxtli mounts two 50mm semi-automatic cannons in the turret, with a full 360° of traverse, and a maximum of 8° of down-angle, allowing the tank to fire from concealed positions if necessary.
"It also mounts a 100mm high velocity gun in the hull, which has a 30° firing arc, and is capable of punching through a maximum of 6" of steel at 2000m, enabling it to easily defeat any known tank fielded by any nation on earth from stand-off range."
"Finally, the Camaxtli also houses two 7.62mm machine guns for self-defense from flanking infantry attacks."
"The combined firepower package this represents makes the vehicle the most well-rounded and powerful vehicle known on the Asian continent, if not the world," concluded the officer.
K'inich immediately responded with a question, asking "What is the state of the development of these vehicles?"
The officer paused for a moment, before clearing his throat and replying "All these vehicles have been prototyped by their respective developers, put through field trials, and are essentially ready for manufacture, Chancellor."
K'inich nodded a little at the answer, at which time Kuchiki made her own inquiry, "Pardon me, Colonel, but despite the supposed benefits of internally storing the drive-train mechanisms for the caterpillar treads, doesn't the current system of having the treads loop all the way around make them more exposed to enemy fire?"
The Colonel nodded with a "Yes, ma'am," before continuing on with "however, the arms firms responsible are also developing add-on armor plates for the upper halves of the tracks which will alleviate that issue without compromising access to the treads by using a permanent method of protecting them."
Kuchiki mulled this over for a moment before nodding and leaning back in her chair, staring at the slide image in contemplation. Beside her, K'inich picked up the various manila folders in front of him and tapped their edges on the desk to straighten them, before setting them back down and saying to the Colonel "Thank you, Colonel Yakinzk, this has been most informative and you may alert your superiors that I will be authorizing full scale production of these vehicles immediately."
