Do wonders disappear when conquered?

i conquered the forbidden palace yet I didn't get a bonus card slot. I conquered potala palace and didn't get a card slot.

Am I going crazy or do wonders only work for the Civ that built them??

Policy wonders don't give you the extra slot when conquered. Have to build them yourself.

Does the builder loose the extra slot when the wonder is conquered?

I liberated a CS once, where the conquering AI had built Petra in it. After I liberated it and became suzerain, Petra remained as one of its tiles, but I could build another one in my cities. Once built, his Petra remained. No idea if it gave the bonus still to the CS, or just graphics, but it was in 2 places at once

I had the same, but with Stonehenge of all things. Needless to say I didn't bother building it to see what the effect would be.
