I have never found that Cathy is a backstabber... unless you count always refusing to join me in war, even when she is friendly, has no other wars going on, and the enemy in question is her worst enemy...

I don't hate Izzy. While she can be a pain, if you get her religion or Theocracy, she's a trustworthy ally.

The same cannot be said for Catherine.

Her most redeeming quality? The ability to attack almost anyone when bribed. Useful for keeping everyone's scores down.

If you have Ghandi declaring on you, you're doing something seriously wrong. He builds few units, won't declare until furious and he usually goes for culture.

I just realized that I am playing with random personalities on, I don't remember turning it on so it has probably been on for a long time. That is probably why Gandhi is always such a crazy warmongerer (spelling?) in my games. He will usually go to war at the drop of a hat, he spams units like crazy too most of the time.

This would explain why the leaders act so differently from what I read about.

Cathy, I've found, makes an excellent vassal. She helps me in both research and war. One of the few AI vassals I've found that will actually take the cities you tell her to attack. With her habit of Rexing her economy usually isn't too bad.

However, up until that point she's a danger. But, Emurcis may have the best reason for including her.

She's usually an easy target, and the fact that her shrine is usually the most profitable, I actually am very found of her. If she doesn't build the AP and gets everyone to DOW on me, it's great. That's why I always try to get CLOSER relations with her early in the game, if you catch my drift.

If she didn't try to spread it everywhere, she wouldn't be Izzy. I think 20% of her production goes into missionaries.

Izzy is annoying, but most of the time when she declares war on me for no reason other than I have come "under the sway of a heathen religion". However, 9 times out of 10, she is backwards and has no army, so I usually end up conquering or vassalizing her.

I like her in my games, she is good at making diplomacy interesting especially when Saladin is there too
