Actually only all minorities opposed it (Serbs, Turks, Gorans, Romas) and only 1 wanted independence (Albanians)

So I'll go settle at Albania I'll be living there for 30 years and then I'll proclame my home to be independent...

Cause many Albanians from Kosovo are even the first generation of immigrants ;)

So all minorities should have equall say in the lives of the albaians. That's just stupid. What if all the minorities in Serbia just decided to declare it a albanian, greek, turk, and Bulgurian country.

Does any one else see that Kosovo independence has many similarities with the partition plan of Palestine in 1948:

* Many serbs are saying the Kosovars are recent immigrants just like the Arabs said about the Jews living in Palestine in 1948
* The two equations "I live here, it's my land" to "It's my ancester's land, thus it's mine even if I do not live on it any more" just like Arabs and Jews have been throwing that argument at each other for decades
* The never ending "who was here first?"
* The great powers involvement, when 90% of the world do not care
* The impression "outsiders" have that every one has a point and everyone is right, well at least that is my personal feeling

Israel is illegal like Kosovo

I was being sarcastic. I know one person one vote. And in Kosovo majority want independance.

@Partizanac: England without Scotland, maybe... But Scotland without England I vote for it!!!

it doesn't have to, it should how ever make you wonder... ;)

And people I know many of you are OK if some countries from that list gets independence and I understand you, but this is nothing to do with you its about those countries governments getting to keep their territories in their full borders and Serbia is loosing one by one? and the main word is WHY?

Yes but the majority of the people in those areas don't want to secede. (Except for Basque which I support independance for.) A much bette anology for the united states would be puerto rico. Which has around 48% independance wanting.

First, Kosovo will only start a trend that will end up with the dissolution of the idea of the nation-state. Second these ethnic enclaves are too small to continue as viable nations, minus Kurdistan and a few other places that should have autonomy. Third if the U.N. declares Kosovo independent I am going to Chicago and declaring myself the ruler of New Warsaw and the greater country of The Michiganland minus Little Egypt, we don't want you.:king:
But in all seriousness Kosovo should not be a country, but rather it should have a Hong Kong-like relationship with Serbia. I just hope that this issue doesn't destroy the EU, with them gone it's a cold war all over again. This time the Americans might just be crazy enough to actually use nukes.

P.S. if anyone remembers me I play AOE3 now but I'm still gonna stick around.

P.S.S. May the flaming (with me included) begin.

That's where you and Kosovo part ways. The citizens of Michiganland don't want you as their ruler. They would either run you out of town on a rail, run you out of town on a dirt road, run you out of town tied up in a potato sack being towed by a pickup truck over an extremely bumpy road full of potholes, hang you, shoot you, beat you to death with tire irons, or, worst of all, tie you to a telephone pole and bring me over to say "hi" and talk to you about global warming for three weeks (which, by the way, has caused eight deaths in CFC over the last two years).

The people of Kosovo do want independence. The people of Michiganland don't.

But in all seriousness Kosovo should not be a country
You only have the right to say that if you're a Kosovar. Well, actually you can say anything you damn well please in here, but if you're not a Kosovar your words will not and should not carry any weight.
