I am on the Liberal Left.

Support a wealfare state, social justice, liberalism and democracy.

You might call me an extremist in the USA*, but in Britain you'd call me a Liberal Democrat, which are afterall one of the 3 mainstream parties.
I'm only an extremist if everyone else is.

*Then again what counts as a centerist in the USA is pretty right-wing in Europe;)

Then you'd be a centrist in Sweden.

This highlights a problem with this thread, that being that Centerists in Sweeden fall under the 'extreme commie liberals' catergory in the USA.

It is indeed hard, even if you try to do it in a world context you may still find it difficult to understand what that is.

As I said in my earlier post, I believe the Canadian centre lies pretty much in line with the world centre, but I might be wrong.

Isnt there anything else in between ?

Am I allowed not to think as centrists without being called extremist ?

I agree with your point carniflex and that talking in such absolutes is in itself extremist, see my post in response to Elrohir earlier in this thread.

That said, I'm sure bozo didn't quite mean it to be taken in such an absolute way even if that's how it did come off.

I am a rational centrist. I can see both sides of an issue and see that there is more than one view in the world. Sadly my view has little representation in government.

I do tend to think of myself as a centrist as far as the CFC OT political landscape is concerned.

Edit: grammar

Another thing: What does that OT acronym mean?

haha, well I took that political compass test, and according to that I am FAR from being a centrist.

On the horizontal scale (economic policy) I got -7.75, on the vertical scale I got -4.87 (social policy).

OT means Off-Topic, as in the Off-Topic Forum.

The problem with that test is that it is entirely based on ideaolgy and ideal situations. I always get -9 for both scores, but fact is alot of it is not practical in this world. The test doesn't take into account different circumstances for different countries.

Half-in, Half-out, Half-ass*d ... no thats not me, although if you average out my beliefs I end end up somewhere in the center, I dont hold many "centrist" positions.
