Well, do you? I, for one, like to use this underused form of punctuation; it also matches my thinking process quite nicely.
I also tend to write long sentences when writing eassys, which normally could be separated into many little sentences; so I need to use the semicolon in this rarely used method, which is separating two independent clauses connected with and/but/or/for/yet/so/nor when a comma is present in both of the clauses, like this one.
Also, don't argue; the above sentence seems to be correct.
Speaking of clauses, have a merry Christmas; then a happy New Year!
