- Game is down to 2 other civs now (Japan and France).
- Japan needs Motor Transport. to get out of IA; France is up Rocketry but down Miniaturization.
- 1612 G, make +3 gpt, Fission in 6.
- Some minor MM actions:
- Hire some CE in Cadez and Entremont to speed up builds (both have surplus food and are stuck at size 12).
- Research slider to 90% for addt’l gpt (still get Fission in 6).

Turn 1 1832AD:
- Worker stuff and few more MM tweaks.
- We will lose gems next turn.

- What to do about the UN? Somebody suggested ‘Ally the world’ as a possible approach. Both France and Japan would be happy to sign MPP, but they make me nervous (never know when you will be dragged into some silly war).
- Investigate Paris (UN city) for 162G: size 12 (with 9 fpt surplus!) makes 40spt (20 turns to complete UN); defended by 2 mech. inf., 4 inf., 2 cannon, 3 bombers, 1 fighter.
- Utica has 323 shields towards SETI, it would need 13 more turns to complete UN, so I decide to switch it to the UN when learn Fission next turn.

- We have dyes and silks we can trade, but Japan has no gold and I didn’t want to help France by trading them luxes.
- Utica builds UN in 8 turns; Theveste has 95 shields towards Manhattan Project (intended as a pre-build for Wall Street once a couple more SE are completed).
- Personally, I dislike nukes (just diverts resources away from SS builds); France may cascade to Manhattan anyway once they lose the race for UN (which would be idiotic since they are the only civ without uranium).
- Have 113G, make –57 gpt, Nuclear Power in 7.
 
lurker's comment: France needs Uranium to build the Manhattan Project. Unless the Japanese sell them Uranium, they can't cascade.
 
Carthage 1850
About the only thing I’m not too happy about are those 4 Japanese units on our home island (next to that former Sumerian city). Guess I’ll build some more units.

And, I’ll mine the Uranium near Carthage, but will not connect it (so it can neither deplete nor getting demanded).
Since Carthago can not grow anyway, I sell off the Granary.

*Don’t give Sanitation to France, they could really grow.

Preturn: A few minor tweaks.

Early: I think I will wait for Laser for Space Flight.

Mid: We cannot trade Laser for Space Flight. I will build up some money for a steel.
Will also build more troops. We are weak so they won't hesitate to declare war if we fail.
Refuse UN Elections.

Late:
The steal is a success! We get Space Flight.
France got Laser (and can research faster than us it seems).
France builds some more space parts.

We build Apollo next turn.
France has 3 parts and is building 1.
If we continue to steal then war is likely. We want to continue to prepare for that.

IHT: Not much to do but press enter.
Turn 1: Build the Apollo Program. Go through and get some parts building. All 4 possbile parts are under construction.
Turn 2: We lost our supply of gems. Start another part prebuild in Cirta.
Turn 3: Not much, upgrade our galleon for the heck of it.
Turn 4: Real builder turns here. Start adding in native workers.
Turn 5: We learn robotics, start on Sats due in 6. Swap a lot of builds to robotics plants. Upgraded our cannon to radar artillary, just becasue I have never seen a radar artillary.
Turn 6: We lost incense, but discovered uranium next to Utica. Hooray or something. French pop out ecology. Get incense, WM and 40 gold from the Japanese for Space flight. We can get ecology and gems for robotics, but I hold off for now.
Turn 7: Pollution is really hitting us.
Turn 8: Cleaning pollution.
Turn 9: We lost a huge gpt payment and wines from the french. I will attempt to renegotiate. We get gems and wines, 40 gpt, 72 gold, WM and ecology for robotics. Best I could get.
Turn 10: Satalites are due in 1. Prebuild in Utica and Cirta, as these are the only 2 cities with robotics plants.

- We get satellites in 1, then we need only 2 more techs to build all SS components.

- Up sanitation on France, up sanitation, nuclear power, and ecology on Japan.

- 1190 gold, -226 gpt; we are weak vs. everybody and they are both furious.

- My guess is France is researching synthetic fibers, so I plan to research superconductor and steal syn. fibers once France gets it. Coordinate prebuilds for the remaining needed SS components:

SS exterior casing - 640 shields
SS storage/supply – 160 shields
SS fuel cells – 160 shields
SS life support – 320 shields
SS thrusters – 320 shields
SS engine – 640 shields (already under construction in Entremont, due in 5).

Turn 5 1920
- I wanted to finish this game nice and peacefully, but Japan has put a monkey wrench into my plans. We are outnumbered by both Japan and France, so I decide to enlist France’s help. Give France dyes for MA vs. Japan. France is still furious and it is not beyond possibility that they could switch sides, so I sign a MPP with France, just in case. Joan is now just annoyed.

- France knows synthetic fibers, but doing a steal now would be unwise (we don’t have enough gold yet for a safe steal anyway). Do a little analysis, we can research superconductor and get all SS components built or prebuilt within 4 turns. Trade France satellites and sanitation for synthetic fibers and 93G.

- Switch Utica to SS exterior casing (due in 4) and Theveste to SS storage/supply (due in 2); prebuilds in Cirta (for SS life support) and Lugdun. (SS fuel cells) will be ready in 4 turns.

- Airlift forces into horse island to deal with Japanese forces there, and switch all non-SS builds to military. We will have several modern armor coming online during the interturn.

- Bombers, atty. and forces on-hand pound SOD by Hippo (several killed, the rest are redlined).

Greebley, what do you mean? This start on a Mountain/Hill/Tundra island would be better than a start on an all-Tundra island? :lol:
I don't think the Map generator gives all-Tundra starts; we did have a few Grassland tiles...and of course, we had one good city spot.
 
I am not sure about conquests. I haven't gotten an all tundra island. On the other hand I haven't been playing huge maps where it is most common.

In the past in PTW, I remember one that had a single grassland tile not next to water. The rest was all tundra and mountains (maybe hills). That one grassland and a few forested deer squares were the only squares with 2 or more food (other than the ocean of course - but thats not until you get a harbor).

That game was a loss for me. It was a while ago though. Might be able to win it now at emporer. Not sure.
