I sometimes surf to CFC from behind a corporate firewall :mischief:

And on some occasions a popup causes the firewall to give a message that "Access to the internet is not allowed".

Is it possible that one of the pop-ups is trying to read info off my PC and post it back to the internet? (only to be stopped

If so, then it seems like a bit of an invasion of privacy to me....

It appears to be the Download Windows Messenger Now popup.

Windows already has Messenger permanently burned into my hard drive, what else do they want? :grr:

(Actually, I use Opera, and never see a pop-up... ;))

But, would your firewall only block sites trying to get your information? This could be worse then the infamous talking ads.

Yep - it lets all the other pop-ups through.

It doesn't actually 'block' this pop-up, but I think it does force an error when the popup tries to send info about my configuration back to the net. Probably its the OS so that the 'right' version gets downloaded, but its still a bit dodgy. :(

the matrix ad used to lock my system up when I used my main page bookmark.

Heh, caffiene fan there ainwood?
