Don Deity: Warlords 2.08, huge random continents map, epic speed

The Indian war V: Changing plans, Part 2

…

In 635 AD Georg Patton, another retired Great General started to build another War Academy, this time in London, by laying down the cornerstone himself. London and Coventry were both building now a Grenadier every 4 turns, preparing the English army slowly to face riflemen. Sill, another project in Coventry had to be to get a forge built there, because thanks to Mercantilism, they were running a free scientist there so far (which was pretty useless for the main English production city)… …and with the production bonus from the forge combined with the engineer they would be able to run then would probably allow to could cut down the production time of Grenadiers to 3 turns.

The same year, the English army reached another major milestone and Bombay fell.

The General in charge and some soldiers:

“And you really have searched the whole city?”

“Yes sir, we have.”

“And you are absolutely sure it isn’t there?”

“Yes, we are.”

“Search it again.”

…

12 days later, same General, same soldiers:

“We have finished searching the city again.”

“And?”

“Same results, not there…”

“Oh my god… …how am I supposed to tell Don Deity that… …one of the main objectives of our quest was to capture the Hindu holy city… …founded 4000 years ago… …and it doesn’t have the HINDU HOLY SHRINE… …search the city again…”

…

Another 12 days later…:

“Still not there…”

“Argh… …I’m dead… …I will never survive the meeting with Don Deity…”

“But we have found something else… …the Indians call it Versailles… …it is said to reduce the city upkeep in Bombay greatly… …might even help reducing the upkeep in neighbourhood cities…”

…

And it really turned out, that brickhead Ash never bothered building the Holy Hindu Shrine after he converted the whole continent of France to Hindu (like 50+ cities)… …but he had apparently decided to build the Versailles during the war for Don Deity, to compensate… …on a side note, from the author: “Ash, after this war, you can consider yourself as my “private hero”, honestly.”

…

After having lost Bombay, Ash also was willing to capitulate… …but Don Deity decided to finish the attack on Ligurian first and to advance on Calcutta, like planned, because not much Indian resistance was supposed to be left. And with a little timing, it should even be possible to take Ligurian and Calcutta at the same time (=turn) to prevent Ash vassalizing himself to Alex…

And in 665 AD finally, Ligurian and Calcutta fell easily and like planned around the same time, and Ash was accepted as England’s first vassal. And England should be known from then on as the “United States of England”. During filling out all entry forms necessary for this complicated bureaucratic process, it also became obvious, that Ash had researched exclusively economical technologies, despite the war. He had Economics, Constitution, Printing Press and Corporation on Don Deity and was currently working on Replaceable Parts (7 turns remaining), so he was in fact nowhere near Rifling… …all those worries about him reaching Rifling soon had apparently been for nothing…

…

Don Deity’s palace in London, Don Deity and the mayor:

“And you REALLY want to have Ash as vassal? He’s a complete idiot…”

“Yes, I know, but I assume it to be generally saver to vassalize Ash, then to carry on the war with him, like I already have pointed out before. And besides, I have a cunning plan, and to make sure we keep the timeline for that plan, it’s easer if we take Ash as vassal now…”

“Will you tell me what this “cunning plan” is?”

“Yes.”

“Would you tell me NOW what this “cunning plan” is?”

“Yes, off course…”

“Then tell me… …NOW… …what this “cunning plan” is!”

“Have you noticed that we switched from producing grenadiers to trebuchets some time ago?”

“Yes.”

“Have you also noticed that we are researching “Steel” right now?”

“Yes.”

“And that doesn’t ring a bell to you?”

“No.”

“ARGH… …OK then, I’ll explain it to you in more detail… …only thing we need to do now is to find an English shaman, who will turn all the trebuchets we already have or are just about to produce into cannons, once we have finally solved the mystery of “Steel”… …then we are going to whip some cannons more… …and then we are going to backstab Alex… …and we are going to do this, BEFORE he has anything else then riflemen to oppose to our glorious army and take out his whole offensive army in one quick strike… …after that it doesn’t really matter what technologies he researches, because we simply will overwhelm him with numbers, once his main army is defeated…MUAHAHAHA…”

“Wow, this is a TRULY EVIL plan… …but it really could work out…”

…

Later the same day, the final meeting between Ash and Don Deity, with Ash signing the vassal contract:

“I’m happy that we have finally been able to settle our minor differences Don Deity… …you know… …you’re still my best friend after all…”

“So you’re not mad at me for taking 2/3 of your cities and slaughtering millions of Indian civilians?”

“You’re a good person Don Deity… …and that’s all that matters…”

“Umh… …well… …yes… …I think so… …you are right of course… …umh… …have you ever heard of a disease called “brain tumour”?”

“No, why do you ask?”

“Oh, doesn’t matter… …and you are really sure that you are happy now, becoming my vassal… …because you have been THE SUPERPOWER before this war… …umh… …I mean our minor differences…”

“Yes… …of course… …together we are strong and that is all that matters…”

“You never even bothered to switch to troop production during our wa… umh… …our minor differences… …nor have you ever bothered researching any military technologies at all…”

“Why should I? I knew from the start that our differences would only be temporary… …and that even happens to BEST friends now and then… …and now events prove me right, see? We are at peace again and will continue to prosper… …we even are about to strengthen our relations…”

“OK then… …that’s it, sign here… …and here… and here… …and here…”

“Wouldn’t it have been easier to make just one contract requiring only one signature Don Deity?”

“That’s not the way things work (at least not in Germany :D)… …sorry for that… …and here… and here… and here… …and here…”

…

45 minutes later:

“…and here.”

“My hand is hurting… …I can barley hold the pencil anymore…”

“Good news is… …you’re done now… …you’re now officially one of the states in the newly created “United States of England”… …and do me a favour please…”

“Yes, of course, whatever you whish my friend…”

“Go see a doctor… …and do it quick…”

…

In the end, Ash and Don Deity decided to take the afternoon off, after all the contract and paperwork had finally been done and had two nice knitting games together. Off course Ash won both of them… …he still was THE knitting champion after all… …and later that evening the friends even agreed to trade Constitution, Printing Press and Economics and a “No trade” agreement with Alex & Bren (form Ash) for Astronomy, Chemistry, Military Tradition (from Don Deity).

Ash wasn’t too happy about the “No trade” agreement, but after Don Deity had pointed out to him, that their own friendship would only be disturbed by the others, he was happy again. And Don Deity desperately needed this “No trade” agreement, with all his military technologies now also in Ash’s hands… …it had to be prevented by all means that all precious English military technologies would disappear in direction Alex and Bren… ….Alex was already THE techleader by far at that point anyways, having on Don Deity Theology, Scientific Methods, Replaceable Parts and Rifling (and maybe even some more techs), and he was the priority one target for the next expansion anyways. Bren still was a little backwards but it better remained that way...

…

This is what the map of Indian-England looked in the end, with the newly agreed border marked in red:

55.JPG

With altogether 9 cities captured, containing quite some beautiful land and some already gown cottages, Don Deity had more then doubled his empire (of his own 9 cities, only 8 were build so far, thanks to the forgotten English hardcore campers…). And with peace all over France (Don Deity simply decided to ignore Bismarck/Odysseus for the time beeing) Don Deity deemed it a good time to fully switch to Cottage Economy. So all workers were sent out and ordered to build nothing but cottages.

…

Everything was going fine, but then Alex decided to annoy Don Deity by squeezing in a city between Old-England and India-England, cutting Bangalore, the most important Indian city captured, off from the rest of England:

56.JPG

He would pay for that… …soon… …but right now, with his power still being a tiny little bit too high for that and Don Deity scientists still working on “Steel”, it would have to be delayed, but only for a short time, because Don Deity had plans, brilliant plans… …which, at that time, still were valid (for something like 4-5 minutes real time more)…

57.JPG

…and then:

…

23. March, 680 AD, around noon, deep down in the cellar of Don Deity’s palace:

“Common Don Deity… …it is absolutely no solution at all to hide yourself in the cellar… …besides, you’re down there now since almost two days… …aren’t you hungry or thirsty at all?”

“No, I’m not… …I’m beaming up to “Chez Leon” every now and then to have a little snack and some drinks… …but apart from that I will never ever leave my cellar again…”

“Cheer up a little… …it wasn’t that bad… …you only ordered a revolt from “Hereditary Rule” to “Representation” immediately when that stupid window popped up… …and the anarchy lasted 45 years (=3 turns)… …off course it would have been clever to have also switched from “Mercantilism” to “Free Market”, like planned long ago, to recover our research (which we desperately would have needed)… …and the anarchy would only have lasted 60 years then (=4 turns)… …but apparently you have forgotten complete when clicking on that damn “Revolution now” button and now you have to wait at least 75 years more (=5 turns) before you can change government again and it will take another 45 years of anarchy (=3 turns)… …and we don’t EVEN know IF and WHEN we’ll be able to afford another 3 turns of anarchy again… …and besides, we have now stupid Ash as vassal, and I fear we will never again get rid of him… …well… …after considering it… …you ARE right… …you messed it up big time… …better stay down there some more…”

…

Before this stupid revolution issue, the next English research project had been set to Steel, like said before, because Don Deity had decided before moving into his new office (=the cellar of his palace) that he would only need some slightly better siege machinery to start the war with Alex as soon as possible (with 21 battalions of highly promoted cavalry surviving the Indian crusade)… …so Don Deity had been starting to build some more trebuchets to have an English shaman upgrade them to cannons later (he had planned to upgrade about 10 trebuchets altogether and to whip about 10 cannons more), after he had finished building something like 6-8 grenadiers some time ago (to protect his advancing cavalry and cannons from riflemen assaults)… …this very likely would have done the trick to correct the continental power situation with Alex having only rifles to face cannons, grenadiers and cavalry… …but thanks to his stupid little Mercantilism problem, researching Steel (3 turns invested + 3 turns revolution + 10 turns remaining + 3 turns revolution form “Mercantilism” to “Free Market”) would simply take too long now to compete with Alex in warfare technology for sure (Alex was getting a new tech every 4-6 turns…) and besides, saving the money for upgrading 10 trebuchets to cannons WHILE running Mercantilism would be something completely impossible… …so Don Deity’s plan was bound to go down the drain this time before he even was able to start with it…

…

The same night, Don Deity couldn’t find much sleep in his cellar. Too many thoughts were spinning around in his head… …what was he supposed to do now?

Should he still try invading Alex, like planned, at the risk of facing Greek cavalry and/or grenadiers, or should he now switch to invading Bren to use the small English techlead still remaining over the Celts and face their incredibly huge army while trying to conquer their (still) mainly crappy land, or should he even build up a fleet and start a (very long) journey and make a naval invasion on Bismarck, because Germany was something like 10 technologies behind England?

So many questions, but although Don Deity didn’t find no sleep at all this night (in his cellar), he couldn’t find any answers…

...

I’m happy for any feedback, suggestions, tips and hints concerning this game...

See you Soon

Ash techs fast, too. Being great friends he is almost certain to share all those nice techs he's going to research. Plus he's allied with DD in the war against Germany.

In Warlords the worst thing about anarchy is you can't research techs. The best is you don't pay maintenance, so you'll get all that money. Wait 3 turns to come out of anarchy and another 2 and you can change again.

I think you're going to need to run some culture to pop those borders. Between Bangalore and Enlgish territory there looks to be space for 4 cities. Since the territory is still wholly Indian any cities Ash founds will quickly take back its squares. Grab a GP and found the Holy building

Bren's usually up for a war and will often jump in for a song. I think Bren's too powerful to take down alone. If you can take techs off Alez and make him your vassal, you'll have another help in fighting the many headed celtic monster. Taking Argos and the two other cities puts you right on the coast and then you can attack Bizzy.

I have just one word : Reload.
Hey, it's an honest mistake, it's not considered cheating.

@ Scarredroman:

I have just put some of your points on a postIt at my monitor, so I wont forget them when playing the next turnset:
- Run a zillion of priests in Ankor Wat city to get shrine up ASAP
- whip theatres in borderland cities and assign 2 artiests ASAP in each (makes first boder pop in 2 turns without running culture) to prevent Alex/Ash from squeezing in more cities
- Check relations Bren/Alex to help deciding what to do next

...

@ Izipo:

I have no inbetween saves, so reloading would mean to replay the complete last turnset (changing plans 1 & 2) which took quite some time to play (if I remember right, about 1,5h+)... ...and I dont like doing it anyways... ...so I fear we have to live with the current situation

...

@ ALL:

I will do a short bar-blah episode next, to give you some more details about the current situation (relations, army, plans, possibilities etc.), then I think I leave it up to you again to vote what to do next:)

Those of you who want to get an even better impression about the actual situation also can have a look at the actual save, it it here (or will be there soon)

And a minor corretion to the story post: DD has finished producing his trebs, the 6-8 grens are in producition right now. And most of DD´s units are already stationed in (or next to) Chinook, to have all options

wow that sucks. whenver i do something like that i usually just reload the autosave. I mean, it's one thing when you do something deliberately and it doesnt go well and reload, but when it's a genuine mistake that has the potential to alter the game significantly...I dont think it hurts that much lol. but if you don't have any autosaves...then ohwell. good luck ;)

Oh yeah, sure, I hate replaying whole turns just for a stupid mistake, too.
But on the other hand my autosave is set on every turn...
Anyway, fear not, we have faith in DD and is golden whip;)

I mainly play this game on my laptop, whenever I´m on tour, and because it is usually loaded with heaps and heap of completely unimportant work-related data, I turned the auto-save off some time ago due to space/performance problems while handling huge maps...:(

An update!! :), .... I have Deutschkurs ... will have to wait 'till night.

EDIT: After reading...

...fear not, we have faith in DD and is golden whip
Amen!

.. Imagine the power, the unrivaled power!!!

And the MONEY!!!, the unrivaled MONEY

...I have no inbetween saves, so reloading would mean to replay the complete last turnset (changing plans 1 & 2) which took quite some time to play (if I remember right, about 1,5h+)... ...and I dont like doing it anyways... ...so I fear we have to live with the current situation

Yeah, I do the same, I live with my actions, and carry on.

Now, just a side note, for the next war, Ash do not have enough troops, maybe not even to defend himself appropiately, so DD, should have some units to defend Ash's territory. And, be aware of any incursion of Ash's troops in the next war, I once happened to do all the clean up, just to have my ally easily taken over the city (that strategicaly located city) that costed me a few bunch of units.

Applause...

If I were you though, I would definitely go straight as you can for a Great Prophet and activate a shrine... Imagine the power, the unrivaled power!!!

May be both Prophet and attack Ben. Land area is needed for Domination vitory I guess. Anyways would be interesting even to loose.

@ Bis-Mark:

Attacking Bren is something that I´m considering myself right now... ...he´s not having rifles at that point, and even if DD isn´t able to pull of an easy victory against him because of the sheer number of units Bren is having, the kill ratio there would be probably the best... ...attacking Alex after the last development, whenever DD will do it now, will be an uphill battle for sure, with very high losses and a bad kill ration... ...DD will have to do it with numbers I fear

...

@ Premier Valle:

A good point... ...if DD would attack Alex within the next turns, Ash is bound to be overrun with his small and outdated army within only a few turns

...

@ ALL:

I will check if the Ankor Wat city captured from India is already out of revolt and then assign as many priests as possible there ASAP once this happens to get the Great Priest needed to build the Hindu Shrine

...

I´m working right now on the final bar-blah, with detailed strategy information (thanks to the hindu holy city DD has a good overview over the neighbourhood armies;))so that the voting what to do next can start

I used to do stuff like the revolution thing all the time (often I would build the Pyramids and then not switch into Representation for 40 turns or something), but my solution is to always click the 'see big picture' thing if the new tech is one that I know I will eventually move into. It serves to remind me of what civics are active and available. I also tend to switch during Golden Ages or with Cristo in BtS, but this isn't BtS unfortunately. You are in a strong position anyway, but it's up to you if you want to reload.

Also, you can research stupid little stuff (that takes 1 turn to research) that you might have missed, if you research them before Revolution and let the overflow beakers research them during anarchy.

A bar… …somewhere strange… …somewhere VERY strange…

…

“Hi Don Deity… …haven’t seen you around for some time… …hope everything is going fine with your little civilisation project?”

“Well… …yes… …basically it is… …I conquered India and turned it into a vassal state…”

“Didn’t you plan to conquer it completely?”

“Umh… …ahem… …but then I decided to save some time and vassalize them, so I could focus my attention on Greece in time, to attack them with cannons, before they have access to cavalry and/or grenadiers themselves… …but then I sort of fell in love with Mercantilism, which, to everybody’s big surprise, killed my own research and economy completely… …now England is running a minus of 169 gold per month (=turn) and Steel is still 10 month (=turns) away… …but I fear England will run broke BEFORE ever reaching Steel… …so the war with Alex wont take place very likely… …which makes me very sad…”

“Hm… …sound like a big problem, Don Deity, but perhaps I can help you a little… …what is the general situation on your world?”

“My English have made contact with all other civilisations now… …there are altogether 4 continents out there, very similar to the one we live upon… …and our continent is by far the most advanced… …oh, and we are at war with the Germans… …they were bribed against us by Ash…”

“Hm… …mildly interesting… …I’m more interested in the development on France… …has Bren already discovered “Rifling”?”

“No, he hasn’t. And he’s even lacking “Replaceable Parts”…”

…

Some beers later…

“After thinking some more about your situation Don Deity, I think I can cheer you up a little… …you have about 20 decent cities now… …when you switch your economy to “Cottage Economy”, what you are apparently already doing, you should be able now to keep up with most of the other civilisations out there, except the BIG ones… …and there are usually more then one opportunity to wage a war in your favour, when you focus on military techs from now on.

Besides, having a plan is a good thing, but adapting to changing situations sometimes (like it might be necessary here) is even more important, because you will NEVER be able to plan everything ahead…

Like you already proved, cavalry against medieval units works great, but enough cannons against all sorts of renaissance units does the same… …and later, there are gunship’s or artillery that will usually give you a technological edge… …and when it REALLY should turn out, that you can’t wrestle down an enemy like Alex with superior technology (because he sadly IS one of the BIG ones) then you can still bring them down with numbers… …by the way have you secretly started to build the Globe Theatre like I advised you when we met on work last week?”

“Yes, off course, like you said, I started it in the city with the most food available… …and it should be ready in 7 turns…

58.JPG

I started to build it in Canterbury, and the English are working on it for quite some time now... …they started on it immediately after they had chopped the needed theatres in all cities right after the warfare preparations had been finished for the Indian war (around 300 AD). As you can see, the city is REALLY strong in food, once I have the English workers farm along the river, which I will do pretty soon.”

That’s great news Don Deity… …and once the Globe Theatre is finished, Canterbury can draft one unit every turn without any unhappiness… …but you have to adopt the “Nationalism” civic first… …and next time, when doing a revolution, please don’t forget to switch from “Mercantilism” to Free Market” also.”

“Well… …I SURELY will…”

…

Some more beers later…

“As I see it, there are three routes you can go down now, Don Deity. The first is to stick to your plan and to declare on Alex, as you have planned. Please show me his land again, will you?”

“There you go…

59.JPG

Beautiful land, isn’t it? And thanks to the Hindu Holy city, we can see ALL of Alex’s cities and therefore his army… …he has more or less a mobile army (4 city defenders per city subtracted) of:

40 riflemen
15 knights
15 trebs/catas

So I have not really a decent plan, how to take him down once he upgrades his knights to cavalry or starts to build additional grenadiers…”

“Well, the only way I see is to wait until you have researched “Steel”, although this means facing cavalry and grenadiers for sure… …and to bring LOTS of cannons… …and drafting additionally about 1 million of muskets would also help… ...but this could get hard… …REALLY hard…”

...

“And this is what Bren’s land looks like:

60.JPG

Sort of stinky, compared to Alex’s land… …mainly desert, tundra and ice… …I REALLY don’t want to go there… …but nevertheless, some more info’s about Bren’s army… …but I only have detailed info’s about a third of his cities, not including his capital, where I suspect most of his troops, so I must relay a little on guessing:

Around 40 mobile units are visible to me, a mix of maces, knights, trebuchets, crossbows and catapults… …so I guess his WHOLE mobile army might contain about 80 - 100 units…

Quite some troops to defend a worthless piece of reale estate, if you ask me…”

“Yes… …this ARE lots of troops… but you would be able to field about 20 - 25 cavalry, 6 - 8 grenadiers and 10 trebuchets yourself, so you would only be outnumbered about 2 to 1 when attacking Bren. And you have to keep in mind that you have a clear technological edge over Bren… …and IF you don’t approach his capital too soon, he might keep some units hanging around there NOT facing you…”

“But his lands will only drain my money… …it is soooooo crappy…”

“Then don’t capture it… …only take enough to make him your vassal… …like that you might even be able to keep some bigger Celt stacks alive, you can use later, when you have to go to war against Alex… …simply gift all your techs to Bren, he pays next to nothing for upgrading…”

“I still don’t want to go there…”

“Then there is only one option left… …start to build some ships and face Bismarck… …but I have to warn you… …just take another look at the power graph (see “Changing Plans, Part 2”)… …after that, Bismarck WILL even have about 30% MORE units for sure then Bren, so you need quite some ships and time (about 20 turns of sailing) to sail ALL the way up there… …and you will leave France completely undefended while your men are shipped towards Germany…”

…

Some more beers later…

“Look at it this way… …IF you should decide attacking Bren now, it doesn’t really matter how much land you gain… …just destroy the bulk of his army while teching to “Steel”, then go directly for “Replaceable Parts” and then “Rifling”… …and once you have reached “Rifling” yourself, you can draft Redcoats (the special unit of the English, replaces “Riflemen”) and clean up what’s left of him…”

“But his land is soooooo crappy…”

…

“Oh, and one last thing before I leave… …please show me a picture of Delhi, the city with the Angkor Wat”

“There you go…”

61.JPG

“Good job Don Deity… …you have set it to run as many priest as possible… …bad only that London has generated so many Great Persons during the Liberalism Race… …so it will take another 47 turns to generate a Great Prophet (very likely even more, because London will produce another Great Person first, no matte what we do…)… …by the way, what have you decided to do with the Great Artist, appearing lately in London?”

“I wanted to turn him into stone immediately… …you know… …I HATE Great Artists… …but the mayor in London had sent him to settle in Jaipur, the most central one of the new borderland towns towards India, before I could catch him, … …look, there he is, hiding somewhere in Jaipur, and mocking me:”

62.JPG

“Stop running merchants there… …and in all other borderland towns… …whip theatres there IMMEDIATELY, then have them run artists…”

“But I hate artists…”

“That doesn’t matter… …you will need your new borderland cities to produce CULTURE… …lots of CULTURE, or they will never be able to work enough tiles due to the culture pressure of your neighbours and keep revolting all the time… …but I really have to leave now… …see you around Don Deity.”

to me, it looks like delhi has a lot more food than cantebury, are you putting it in cantebury because it wouldnt be good for much else and that delhi is pretty much already set up for CE?

@ MrFelony:

When DD started to build the Globe, Delhi wasn´t captured (if I remember right, the Globe was started even before the first Indian city fell), so at that time Canterbury was the English city with the most food.

...

But even if Delhi would have been English already then, DD would still have build it in Canterbury, because

a) Delhi has already some beautifull cottages to grow into, Canterbury is only a sad and neglected place due to worker shortage (like you already have pointed out yourself) and

b) Delhi is the only English city, that can run more then 1 priest, thanks to the Angkore Wat so DD is trying to generate a Great Priest there to build the Hindu Shrine (so building a courthouse and then more temples for more priest while growing Delhi is prio 1 there)

Decide what to do next:

Again it’s time to decide about Don Deity’s fate, since his plan to backstab Alex didn’t work out... ...so there must be a new plan. (For details about army strength of each nation, tech-situation and relations please read the last bar-blah):

One additional information:

Bren and Alex are best friends, so they wont declare on each other (won’t declare on close friends message)

…

1 a)
Go on like planned, declare on Alex within the next turns (entering suicide mode…)

1 b)
Go on like planned, but wait until at least 10 cannons are ready (about 15-20 turns, but DD’s army will not only be outnumbered but also very likely outteched then)

1 c)
Go on like planned, but wait until at least 10 cannons are ready and DD has researched rifles and drafted about 20+ redcoats (about 25-30 turns, DD’s army will be equal in numbers but VERY outteched)

…

2 a)
Change plans and declare on Bren right away (DD’s army is outnumbered but has a clear technological advantage)

2 b)
Change plans and prepare to declare on Bren, but wait for 10 cannons (a BIG gamble… …IF Bren reaches rifles in the meantime, DD is dead… …if not, Bren is toast)

2 c)
Change plans and prepare to declare on Bren, but wait for 10 cannons and about 20+ drafted redcoats (DD will have to face Celt rifles for sure, but the chances of winning the war would be probably quite good)

…

3)
Build about 10 ships and start to ship the whole army towards Germany. This will take about 10 turns for the ships, and about another 20 turns for the voyage (suicide mode again… …not only would France be completely undefended, even worse is the fact, that DD’s army would be outnumbered and cut of from any reinforcements once in Germany… …and Germany would have about 30 turns to tech happily towards rifles…)

...

I will wait for some days for the voting results and again continue the game according to the general plan... ...and if the plan turns out to be only half as good as the last time when we voted (we decided to backstab India, what DD then succesfully did...) it would be cool:goodjob:

EDIT:
And please write some lines again, why you voted that way for better understanding and to fuel the discussion, thanks in advance, Snaaty

EDIT2:
Oh, and after only a little more then one year, I have found out how to make a signature:lol:

I will vote again first, to show how it works and to give you my opinion:

2a) Declare on Bren ASAP

...

For me it is clear, that the window of opportunity to attack Alex has passed with my little faux pas... ...and declaring on Bismark is sort of... ...umh... ...well...

So the only alternative is Bren. I struggled hard between 2a) and 2b) (wait for cannons before attacking), but then I decided against it, because it would be simply too risky in my opinion to wait that long with attacking, giving him too much time to tech towards rifling... ...facing 80-100 riflemen with 25 cavalry and 10 cannons wouldn´t be funny...

And attacking Bren now has the BIG advantage, that DD doesn´t even have to win the war, doing heaps of damage and killing most of Bren´s army and then begging for peace would also do... ...once DD has cannons and redcoats Bren would be easy pray with his main army destroyed pre rifling...
