Guys. Imperialism overall was good. I'd support the reconquest of Africa and certain parts of Asia. Long live the empire. Europe brought culture and industry to the rascal kin, half devil half child.

But colonialism is not simply to be set in the domains of history, which is political itself: history is political and colonisation is still a current issue if one looks at the treatment of the Mapuche in Chile or Tibet. Imperialism is not just of the past but rather a continued notion in the present as well and maybe even the future.

We were talking about it in a historical context though (the Raj). It's like Communism; it's contemporary, but you can talk about it in a historical context (the Spanish Civil War, for instance).

And that is only a problem if you're talking about modern imperialism. Something like the Raj is historic, and I'm talking about it from a historic viewpoint because the Raj doesn't exist.
There's also the fact that colonialism is a mix-bag. Like RC said, if you look at it as purely good or purely evil, you're missing the point entirely.
There's also the fact many IOTs are focused on the 19th and 20th century.

BTL is not a splinter of TvTropes. We left that awful place (serious: TvTropes is awful: SA (warning on language) and here will note why) for notable reasons.
Any rate we are not a splinter of TvTropes: despite efforts of a certain figure we have not seek to make our own wiki, instead setting as a community of humour and debate.
We are a fun place. Consider Beyond the Revolution and the madness of us BTLees.
